Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 9

Dominic rushed forward to check on her. When he saw what his daughter had just thrown up, his brow furrowed in anger, and he immediately slammed his hand onto the call button.

The doctors arrived quickly and rushed Lily out to pump her stomach. Lily bawled in agony, her cries so loud they echoed down the entire hallway.

After a grueling ordeal that lasted long into the night, Lily finally quieted down, lying pale and exhausted in her hospital bed.

The doctor pulled Dominic into his office, his tone severely reprimanding. "The child already has severe inflammation in her gastrointestinal tract. What on earth did you feed her? Sticky rice, heavy grease, and sugar? Are those things you give a child during an acute flare-up? If you had brought her in even a little later, she would have been severely dehydrated. What kind of parents are you?"

Dominic glanced through the window at his haggard daughter on the bed, his brow knitting into a deep scowl.

For the next few days, Lily was strictly restricted to plain, watery soup.

She stared at the incredibly bland liquid and burst into fresh tears. "I don't want this! I want Mom's soup..."

Dominic pressed his lips into a thin line and dialed Seraphina's number on his phone, but no matter how many times he called, no one answered.

Lily continued to whine and refused to eat. Dominic cast a cold, sharp glance in her direction. Intimidated by his stern gaze, Lily immediately snapped her mouth shut, shrinking her neck back in fear as she obediently picked up her bowl and started eating.

Dominic then withdrew his gaze, staring at the blank screen of his phone, his grip on the device tightening noticeably.

Lily forced down the rest of the bland meal, her little face scrunching up as if she was about to cry again.

She couldn't believe her mom was actually ignoring her. Her mom was usually the one who worried about her the most.

She sniffled, grabbed her smartwatch from the nightstand, scrolled to her mom's contact, and pressed call.

Beep—Beep—Beep—

Whenever she used this watch to call her mom, it was always answered instantly. But this time, it really went straight to voicemail.

She aggressively threw the watch onto the bed. "She won't pick up! Mom is so mean! I'm mad! I'm so mad! Even if she tries to apologize, I won't forgive her!"

She crossed her arms tightly and turned her face to the wall.

A few seconds later, though, she sneakily peeked at the watch again. There were no missed calls, no text messages, absolutely nothing.

Her eyes reddened once more, this time filled with a mix of fury and overwhelming self-pity.
