Everyone was talking over each other. Meredith rubbed her temples, clearly overwhelmed by the disaster.

Seraphina stood off to the side, her eyes fixed on the email.

After a few seconds, she spoke up. "Ms. Cross, I know how to execute these changes."

The room went totally silent.

Every eye turned to her.

Meredith looked up, saw it was Seraphina, and scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain. "You? Why don't you stick to wiping desks and sorting files. Don't cause trouble here."

A senior designer beside her chuckled. "Seriously. None of us professionally trained designers can figure it out, and you think you can, after not touching a pencil for six years?"

Another woman crossed her arms. "Ms. Cross, she did pass the official assessment. Maybe she actually has a few tricks up her sleeve?"

She said the words, but the sarcasm in her voice was unmistakable.

Seraphina ignored the noise, her gaze locked on Meredith.

"The cut the client is asking for isn't on the market because it's not a standard technique."

"They don't want a mass-produced, cookie-cutter product; they want an entirely new setting method. The curvature isn't decorative—it's for refracting light. They want the piece to display completely different colors under different lighting."

Meredith's fingers twitched.

Seraphina continued, "I've done this kind of design before. If you give me a chance, Ms. Cross, I can draft a new design that meets their demands."
