Her tone was completely demanding. She was already furious that her mother hadn't taken her to school the past few days, and now her mom was intentionally teasing her. She was so angry that she decided she wouldn't forgive her mom unless she cooked a ton of her favorite meals.
Lily huffed angrily, her eyes locked onto the container.
It was her familiar food container. She felt like she could already smell the delicious aroma of the warm soup inside.
Seraphina's voice was freezing cold. "I didn't make this for you."
Lily's eyes widened in utter disbelief. "If it's not for me, who is it for? I want to eat it!"
Seraphina looked down at her. "If you want something to eat, ask your mother. Didn't you just call someone else Mom? From now on, I'm not your mother anymore."
Lily froze, her eyes instantly welling up with tears.
Lauren practically leaped from her chair and grabbed Seraphina's arm. "Seraphina, even if you hate me, you shouldn't act like this. She's just a little kid, she doesn't know any better. She just said it without thinking. Why are you arguing with a child?"
After she spoke, she lowered her head and dabbed at her eyes, looking like the ultimate victim.
"Seraphina, stop being completely unreasonable." Dominic's icy voice cut in from the side. He stood up from the sofa by the window and walked over to Seraphina, his eyes as cold and dark as ever.
"You abandon your child, and now you think you have the right to blame her for not feeling close to you?"
Dominic's voice wasn't particularly loud, but the hospital corridor was quiet, and nearly everyone nearby heard him. People started turning their heads, whispering and pointing at Seraphina.
Seraphina felt completely and utterly chilled to the bone.
She had nearly died in a car crash to save their daughter, spending a month bedridden in the hospital, and neither he nor Lily had shown a shred of concern.
And now he had the nerve to accuse her of abandoning the child?
Dominic was always like this. No matter what the situation was, he immediately blamed her without ever bothering to ask for the facts.
