The Lockwood estate.

Dominic woke up in the study, his cold gaze sweeping across the room.

He rarely slept at the house, and when he did, it was usually in the study, so this was nothing out of the ordinary.

Yet, something felt off. Usually, even when he slept in the study, he would wake up to find his clothes, shoes, and socks neatly laid out for him.

Today, there was nothing.

He frowned, his eyes darkening slightly. Before he could dwell on it, the door was suddenly pushed open by Lily.

Lily rubbed her eyes, her voice tinged with a whine.

"Dad, where's Mom? Why didn't she wake me up? I'm going to be late."

Dominic checked the time. They were indeed running late. Seraphina hadn't woken their daughter up?

Wasn't this what she cared about the most? To ensure Lily was never late for school, Seraphina always prepared everything meticulously and dropped her off perfectly on time. She had never missed a single day.

What was she doing now?

The nanny hurried over, clutching Lily's backpack.

Dominic frowned. "Where is Seraphina?"

The nanny kept her voice low. "Mrs. Lockwood left last night and never came back."

Dominic's gaze stalled. "Never came back?"

She had just come back from a month-long vacation, only to throw a massive temper tantrum.

All over a single guest room, she was throwing a fit and staying out all night.

Lauren had mentioned that Seraphina needed time to clear her head, which was why he hadn't reached out to her for a month. Now it seemed all that free time had just made her wild.

He suddenly remembered her talking about 'giving them what they want' the night before.

So, she was putting on an act now?

Dominic's lips curled into a faint sneer as he let out a dismissive scoff, his gaze turning icy.
