Seraphina looked at the scene unfolding in front of her, her heart turning to pure ice.
Lauren had a rosy complexion and looked perfectly healthy. Anyone paying the slightest bit of attention could see she was faking her illness.-
On the other hand, Seraphina was pale and still had a bandage wrapped around her arm. Even the nanny had immediately noticed she was unwell, yet this father and daughter duo were completely blind to it.
Lily began stomping her feet again, crying out with tear-filled eyes, "Mom is mean! Mom is so selfish! I don't like Mom anymore!"
She then turned to support Lauren, her voice instantly dropping to a sweet, milky tone. "Lauren, I'll take you upstairs. Just ignore her."
Seraphina felt completely numb.
This was the daughter she had raised with her own two hands.
Beside her, Dominic nonchalantly walked past, his strides steady and composed as he headed for the sofa, radiating an aura of total detachment.
Seraphina stared at his cold, unfeeling back and suddenly let out a sharp scoff. "Fine. If that's how it is, I'll give you exactly what you want."
Dominic didn't even look up. His brow furrowed slightly as he asked in a flat tone, "What are you trying to do now?"
Seraphina couldn't even be bothered to explain anymore.
She had explained herself too many times over the years, and he had never believed her once.
She pulled a file folder from her bag—containing the divorce papers—and handed it to Dominic. "Here. Sign this."
Dominic cast a brief, dismissive glance at the folder, not moving a muscle to take it. Suddenly, Lily's voice echoed from upstairs. "Dad! Dad, come quick! Lauren isn't feeling well!"
Dominic immediately stood up and strode upstairs, not sparing another glance at the folder.
Seraphina's hand lingered in mid-air holding the papers before she slowly let it fall.
She could hear the harmonious, familial chatter floating down from the second floor. Standing alone downstairs, she felt like a completely irrelevant outsider.
She dropped the folder onto the coffee table, hoisted her half-empty tote bag onto her shoulder, opened the front door, and walked out.
