Unloved Unwanted Unstoppable (Seraphina and Dominic) novel Chapter 26

As soon as Seraphina walked in, she saw her mother-in-law, Winifred, cuddling Lily on the living room sofa, while her sister-in-law, Yvette, lounged beside them.

Dominic sat on a single armchair off to the side, looking at his phone and occasionally glancing up at his daughter with a faint smile.

A picture of perfect family harmony.

Seraphina took a deep breath, walked over, and called out, "Mom."

Winifred acted as if she hadn't heard a thing, keeping her head down to play with the child in her arms.

"Lily is such a good girl. Grandma loves you the most," she cooed, cupping Lily's cheeks and kissing her.

Lily didn't even spare Seraphina a glance. Wrapping her chubby arms around Winifred's neck, she replied in a sweet, childish voice, "Grandma, Lily loves you the most too."

Yvette leaned in. "Tell me you love your aunt too, Lily, and I'll buy you candy."

"I love you, Auntie," Lily chimed obediently.

Yvette laughed triumphantly. "So well-behaved. Much better than your mother."

As she said that, her gaze drifted over to Seraphina.

Seraphina's palms grew clammy, but she ignored the jab and walked over to find a seat in the corner.

Yvette turned to look at her again, letting out a scoff.

"Mom, you have no idea how arrogant my sister-in-law is these days. She's out there parading around using the Lockwood name, acting like she owns the place. She even skipped the line to eat at The Imperial."

Winifred's eyes went wide. "What? The Imperial? That place costs thousands of dollars a head. Where does someone like Seraphina, who doesn't earn a single dime, get the nerve to eat there?"

"Let me tell you something. A wife should know her place. From now on, you are forbidden to waste a single cent of this family's money."

Seraphina lowered her eyelashes.

She woke up early and went to bed late every single day, cooking, doing laundry, and raising the child. For six years, she had been an unpaid maid in this house.

And in the end, she was just a freeloader who didn't earn a dime.

A faint, almost imperceptible smile curled the corners of Seraphina's lips.

She couldn't even be bothered to argue.
