But before Ursula's hand could even graze Jocelyn's cheek, Jocelyn snatched her wrist in a vice-like grip.

Ursula shrieked in outrage. "Do you see this, Carter? I just wanted to teach her a lesson, and she dares to lay her hands on me! Are you really going to stay married to a woman like this? Divorce her!"

Jocelyn stared coldly at her mother-in-law. "If we divorce, he has to give me half of his assets. Are you prepared for that?"

"Bullshit! You cheated! You should walk away without a dime!" Ursula cursed.

Jocelyn finally understood. This was exactly why Ursula had privately signed the divorce agreement but was now deliberately blowing this out of proportion.

This was her game plan all along! She didn't even want to pay the one hundred million they had agreed upon.

Carter's face darkened as he strode over to Jocelyn. "Let go of my mom right now. She's your elder. Even if she scolds you, it's her right. You have no right to treat her this way!"

"Scolds me?" Jocelyn let out a bitter laugh. "Do you honestly think she was just going to 'scold' me?"

"Even if she did slap you a few times, so what? My mom has sacrificed so much for me. As her daughter-in-law, is it really that hard for you to just bear it?" Carter snapped in displeasure.

Jocelyn's smile grew even more mocking. Right. She had heard this sob story countless times. How Carter's father had passed away early, and how his mother had endured endless hardships to raise him and his sister all on her own.

That was exactly why she had always tolerated Ursula's abuse in the past.

"Carter, she may have sacrificed a lot for you, but she hasn't sacrificed a single thing for me. I tolerated her before because I loved you. But now? I won't hold back anymore," she declared.

Carter's expression turned incredibly grim.
