Jocelyn immediately stepped out of the stall, but all she saw was the back of a figure exiting the restroom.
By the time she rushed out into the busy mall corridor, mingling with the dense crowd of shoppers, it was impossible to pinpoint who had just made that call!
The voice had explicitly stated it would blow when the timer hit zero.
They had planted a time bomb!
If Edgar was the target, the bomb had to be located somewhere in his immediate vicinity.
She needed to get back to him immediately, and she had to evacuate the entire mall!
Without hesitation, Jocelyn dialed a number she hadn't called in a very long time.
"Jocelyn?" The deeply familiar voice answered on the other end.
"It's me. I'm at Silver Mall right now," she said, rapidly summarizing the French conversation she had just overheard. "Whether the threat is real or not, we need to evacuate the building immediately to prevent any casualties."
"Evacuating an entire shopping center based on a single overheard phone call is extremely risky. One wrong move and we trigger a mass stampede," the man replied.
"I know you have the authority and capability to handle this smoothly. Please!" she urged.
"If this hadn't happened today, were you ever going to call me again?" he asked quietly.
"...I'm sorry!"
"There's nothing to apologize for. I told you before: whatever your orders are, I will execute them without question!"
The call disconnected, and Jocelyn finally let out a breath she didn't know she was holding.
As long as he was willing to help, getting everyone out of the mall safely wouldn't be an issue.
The only thing left to do was get back to the rooftop and find Edgar!
She sprinted toward the elevators, but the display panels were entirely blank. The system was completely dead!
Damn it! The assassins must have cut the power to them.
