The Return of Special Forces Queen novel Chapter 43

"I refuse," Jocelyn said without a moment of hesitation.

He frowned. "Are you still throwing a tantrum?"

"I'm not throwing a tantrum," she replied firmly. "When I resigned, I never planned on going back."

Carter's face darkened. "Do you realize that by joining Azure Dynamics, you're violating your non-compete clause? I could sue you. You wouldn't just have to pay for all of the company's losses—every project you touch at Azure Dynamics would be legally compromised!"

Jocelyn froze, staring at him in sheer disbelief. She couldn't believe those words were actually coming out of his mouth.

Carter avoided her gaze, looking slightly guilty. "If you don't want to drag your friend's company down with you, you better quit immediately and come back to work."

Jocelyn let out a scoff. "Carter, I used to think that even if you were a mess when it came to women, you at least had some integrity in business. Now I realize I gave you way too much credit."

He paled. "I just want the company to survive this crisis! Since our partners are threatening to pull the project because you left, you coming back is the fastest way to fix it!"

Over the past few days, he had hired professionals to rewrite the project proposals, but the clients firmly stated that unless Jocelyn was leading the project, they were pulling out.

They even knew she had moved to Azure Dynamics, heavily implying they might just take their business there instead.

He needed her back at Grayson Tech, no matter what it took.

"I am not going back to Grayson Tech," she rejected him coldly once more.

Carter flared up. "Are you really not afraid of getting sued?!"

"You can only sue me if I actually signed a non-compete. Carter, the only thing between me and your company is a standard, entry-level employee contract!" Jocelyn retorted.

Carter's face turned incredibly ugly.
