Jocelyn's eyes instantly lit up. "That's incredibly rare! You can't even borrow it from the library anymore. It's completely out of print!"

The book was filled with meticulously detailed avian illustrations. Because of her love for birds, she had heard people mention it and had wanted to borrow a copy to read. When she found out it was out of print, she had given up hope.

She never expected to see it right here, in Edgar's hands.

"The contents are decent. Would you like to read it?" he asked.

"No, thank you. We're almost at my place anyway," she replied.

A few moments later, the car pulled up to the front of the villa she shared with Carter.

Jocelyn stepped out. Before she could walk more than a few steps, Edgar's driver hurriedly got out and rushed over to her.

"Ms. Quinn, my boss instructed me to give this to you." He extended *The Avian Manuscripts* toward her.

Startled, she immediately waved her hands. "That's not necessary. Please thank Mr. Barrett for me, but this book is far too valuable. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to accept it."

"My boss said that if you don't want it, you are free to throw it in the trash." Without waiting for a response, the driver turned on his heel and walked back to the car.

Jocelyn was about to chase after him when Jeannie Grayson suddenly sprang out of nowhere and blocked her path.

"Well, well, well, Jocelyn! I knew there was something sketchy about you! Having some random man drop you off at your doorstep? I caught the whole thing on video! And he gave you a book? Let me guess, it's some sort of trashy romance, isn't it?"

Jeannie sneered and reached out, trying to snatch the book from her hands.

Jocelyn sharply smacked her hand away, her expression turning ice cold. "Don't push your luck, Jeannie!"

Jeannie cried out in pain, cradling her instantly reddened hand. "You actually hit me? Fine! I recorded you getting out of some guy's car. Just wait until my brother gets home. We'll see how you explain your way out of this!"
