"What horrible luck. Why do we keep running into these two?" Lana groaned.
Jocelyn gave a faint smirk. "Just pretend they don't exist."
Unfortunately, Carter and Yolande had already spotted her.
Carter instantly urged his horse over, stopping right in front of her with a deep scowl. "What are you doing here?"
Jocelyn scoffed. "Better question—what are you doing here? So this is your 'urgent, highly important meeting,' huh?"
A flash of extreme guilt crossed his face.
"Wow, hosting emergency board meetings at the equestrian club now?" Lana sneered. "I wonder if the next one will be held in bed."
Carter's face went completely black. "Watch your mouth. Even if you're her friend, I won't let you get away with talking like that."
"Go ahead and sue me then, big guy!" Lana challenged, jutting her chin out.
Carter's expression turned murderous.
Jocelyn immediately stepped forward, shielding her friend. "Carter, if you lay a single finger on her, I will publicly release every shred of proof about your affair with Yolande!"
"You wouldn't dare!" he growled.
"Try me and see!"
She knew he had just shelled out a massive amount of cash to suppress the recent tabloid scandal. The absolute last thing he wanted was for the fire to reignite.
