"I'm busy. If your mother has a doctor's appointment, you and your brother can take her," Jocelyn replied coldly.
Without waiting for a response, she hung up and immediately blocked Jeannie's number.
For three years, whenever Ursula was even slightly under the weather, Jocelyn was the one rushing her to the clinic, handling the paperwork, picking up prescriptions, and tracking down specialists. Yet the Graysons treated her hard work as a basic expectation and never showed an ounce of gratitude.
Today was supposed to be Ursula's eye exam follow-up.
"Who was that?" Lana asked.
"Carter's sister. Ignore it," Jocelyn said.
Half an hour later, however, Carter called. "Jocelyn, you better get down to the hospital this instant. If anything happens to my mother, I will never forgive you!"
Jocelyn frowned but eventually decided to go. After all, their divorce wasn't finalized yet, and she didn't want any unnecessary complications.
The second she walked into the lobby, Jeannie charged at her furiously. "Jocelyn, did you block me?! I couldn't get through to your phone at all!"
"Yes, I blocked you," she admitted bluntly.
"How dare you!" Jeannie was absolutely livid.
She was especially furious because she had confidently marched her mother into the doctor's office, only to be chased out by the staff for not having an appointment. She had stood there in the hallway, calling Jocelyn a dozen times with everyone staring at her. It was humiliating!
"Why wouldn't I dare? Are you the president or something? Am I legally required to take your calls?" Jocelyn retorted.
Jeannie was rendered utterly speechless.
Carter stepped in, scowling. "Whatever issues we have are between us. You shouldn't use my mother's health to get back at me."
"How exactly am I getting back at you?" Jocelyn found his accusation absurd.
