The Return of Special Forces Queen novel Chapter 12

But in the very next second, the sharp edge of a steak knife was pressed flush against his throat.

For a moment, the air in the room seemed to freeze.

Right at that moment, a squad of armed police officers burst through the doors.

"Nobody move!" an officer shouted.

Edgar froze, and Jocelyn finally let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding.

"What is going on here? Who called the police?" the lead officer demanded.

"I did!" Jocelyn replied loudly, pulling back the knife and standing up.

Edgar kept his eyes fixed on her as he slowly got to his feet.

The officer stepped forward and immediately recognized him. "Mr. Barrett, are you injured?"

"I'm fine. This man tried to kill me. Here's the weapon he used," Edgar said smoothly, handing the gun over.

The officer took it, then glanced at Jocelyn and the knife still in her hand. "And your weapon...?"

"It's just a steak knife from the table. An emergency happened, so I grabbed it for self-defense. That shouldn't be an issue, right?" Jocelyn said, proactively handing it over.

While the officer inspected the cutlery, the corners of Edgar's mouth suddenly curled upward. "Ms. Quinn, you are far more interesting than I anticipated. I hope our paths cross again."

Jocelyn pressed her lips together tightly. The man was too dangerous. Every instinct screamed at her to keep as much distance from him as possible.

Due to the severity of the incident, Jocelyn and the others were taken to the police station to provide official statements.
