You Had Me, You Lost Me, You'll Never Find Me novel Chapter 109

Ashton scoffed loudly. "What kind of fiancé is he? Have you even had an engagement party?"

Sylvia bit her lip. "That's none of your business."

...

The car pulled up to an amusement park. Even at this hour, the park was ablaze with neon lights, loud and bustling. It was packed with just as many adults as children.

Ashton pulled Sylvia out of the car. "What do you want to ride?"

Sylvia thought he was completely deranged. Dragging her to a theme park out of nowhere? To get it over with, she pointed randomly at the closest attraction.

Ashton followed her finger, entirely unfazed. "The carousel? Not bad."

The suggestion violently shoved a memory to the front of Sylvia's mind. She remembered a photo she had once seen, a picture of Rebecca Winslet sitting on a carousel, smiling brightly.

Thinking about it now didn't trigger the soul-crushing agony it used to, but it still made her stomach churn with revulsion.

As Ashton tried to pull her toward the ticket booth, Sylvia forcefully ripped her hand out of his grip.

"I changed my mind. Go ride it yourself."

The spark of amusement in Ashton's eyes instantly died. Left grasping at empty air, he slowly slid his hand back into his pocket. "Then what do you want to do? I'll ride it with you."

"I don't think any of this is fun. I just want to go home."

She didn't realize that in her frustration, she had referred to her current apartment as "home."

Ashton's lingering smirk vanished completely. He stared her down.

"Pick a ride," he ordered, his voice dangerously low. "If you refuse, I'm taking you straight back to my home."

It was glaringly obvious that his definition of "home" was very different from hers.

Catching his threat, Sylvia frowned deeply. "The Ferris wheel."

Comparatively, it was the least nauseating option.

Beside them, Gideon let out a massive sigh of relief. "The Ferris wheel is a fantastic choice."

Ashton shot his assistant a deadly warning look but stayed silent, leading Sylvia toward the massive illuminated wheel.

Stripped of the blinding illusion of love, he really was nothing more than her sugar daddy.

"What are you staring at?" Ashton stood up, towering over her as he blocked her view.

Outside, fireworks suddenly exploded across the sky. Sylvia looked up at him in profound annoyance. "Can't you look out the window yourself?"

Ashton found her attitude darkly amusing. He reached out and pinched her cheek. "What's the attitude for? Weren't you the one begging to come out and play before?"

Sylvia was beyond sick of him constantly manhandling her. She viciously swatted his hand away. A loud slap echoed in the cabin, leaving a bright red welt across the back of his hand. Her own palm stung from the impact.

Ashton's expression darkened into something deadly. He stared intensely down at her. Surprisingly, he didn't explode. Instead, he reached down and gently grabbed her wrist.

"Let me see. Did you hurt your hand?"

Sylvia hadn't expected him to keep his temper in check, leaving her completely defenseless as he captured her hand.

She violently ripped herself out of his grasp. "Don't touch me!"

Ashton locked eyes with her, his gaze terrifyingly still. "Sylvia, have I been treating you too well lately? Tell me if you just want to be taken. If you're tired of this romantic charade, I can easily do things the hard way."
