Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 90

Chapter 90
Immediately Caster left the Orion group, he went back to his office to speak with the board of directors.
Outside his office, he was curious to see that Cynthia wasn’t in her usual spot outside. He asked his assistant, “Did Cynthia take a day off?”
His assistant hesitated before replying, “No, she’s actually in the ICU. She was hit by a truck while crossing the road last night after leaving a nightclub”
Instantly, Caster suspected Georgia had something to do with it. He dismissively gestured with his hand, “Get a new secretary immediately, and send Cynthia some flowers. With that, he proceeded to the boardroom for his meeting. Cynthia’s fate not weighing on his conscience in the slightest.
The boardroom was filled with ten visibly grumpy faces that weren’t thrilled to see him upon his arrival, not that he particularly cared at the moment.
Taking his seat at the end of the table, he feigned ignorance, “May I know why I’ve been summoned?” He asked, fully knowing the reason.
“Did you just ask that? In the last two weeks, the company has suffered significant losses under your management. Don’t you think you deserve to be summoned?” One of the investors spoke up.
“In every business, losses are acquired at some point. I reassure you that this is just a small hurdle, one I will fix in no time.” The dismissive response drew a scoff from a board member, ‘Small hurdle? You were taken into custody this morning for the illegal trade of oil. How can you fix that? The company has lost almost half a billion already!”
“Not to mention, the lack of revenue we’ve acquired. Walker corporation has never been at its lowest for the past two generations.” Another added.
“Even our rivals are mocking us. Look at Orion Group, blossoming under the hands of a young amateur actress with zero work experience. What do you have to say for yourself?”
“If this continues, I’m afraid you might have to step down and have your father take over now. I heard he is coming back. He should be able to solve this.”
Caster’s fist and jaw clenched at the words pouring from every corner of the room. With every passing second, his rage only grew. If only he could shut them up for good.
For years, he had been managing the company without a hitch, making it one of the best in the country. And they all turn on him now because of a silly mistake. A mistake that was completely out of his control.
It wasn’t his fault Felicity stole all their good deals, and it wasn’t his fault that his land was trampled upon. If he had the power to stop these incidents from happening, he would have done so in a heartbeat. But he was a victim too, you know.
“Everyone, let’s calm down and not jump to conclusions. Mr. Walker has been doing a great job so far, I’m sure he can find a way out of this right Mr. Walker?”
Caster’s eyes darted to the one who spoke up for him. Xander, Mario’s representative, who had managed to become a board.
member himself.
He was the youngest in the room, and the most mysterious. He was voted in because of his tremendous financial contribution to the company, and the fact that he was working for a foreign businessman. He was probably one of the most Important board members also.

The room went calin in his words, and everyone tomed to Cauter for an answer.
Brushing His sleeves. Onster sai upright and responded, 111 admih the last couple of weeks have been terrible but I’m taking measures to fix it. We will revisit our market strategies, and release new products to the market.”
“What about the case currently against you? No one wants a criminal as a leader”
eves narrowed at the old man who said that. He growled, I am not a criminal,” making the man shrink in his seat. Clearn his throat he continued. “As I speak, the police are searching for the real perpetrator of the crime, and when that’s done, our stocks will go up.”
No one bought his words because deep down, they knew Caster was guilty. It was quite obvious.
“That’s a probability. We need assurance.”
Before Caster could argue, Xander spoke up first, “How about I propose anerger?” His words caused a string of murmurs around the room with everyone shooting glances at him.
The one glance that caught his attention though was the one Caster was currently shooting at him. It was unnerving, like looking like a bottomless pit. The fact that Xander couldn’t read his expression made it all the more annoying
The merger was Felicity’s idea. When Caster’s stocks declined too much, Xander would swoop in and save the day by proposing a merger with Mario. Since Mario had gained popularity in the market, Caster would be tempted to accept it.
was a smart move, he must say.
A merger? A board member asked.
Xander gave his signature innocent smile, “Yes. A merger with Mario would surely make everyone forget about the current investigation, and elevate stocks. We have a very good relationship with the public,” He said smugly before lifting his eyes to gaze at Caster, both of them studying each other righteously, “What do you say?”
Caster tried to read Xander but he couldn’t. The man looked like an open book but at the same time, a wolf. He could never figure out what Xander was thinking and he hated it. He hated losing control like this
“I’m not that desperate Caster blurted out, challenging Xander to oppose him. He was not ready to share his power, especially not with someone like Xander. He was far too calculating.
The tension in the room was thick as everyone glanced between the two men like they were expecting a fight.
But without a flick in his demeanour, Xander nodded, reclining in his chair like a lazy cat, “Fine, it was just a suggestion. I won’t push it.
Finally looking away, Caster stated, “I’ll make a list of strategies we can work with for now. We don’t need to take drastic measures because of small slip-ups like this. My father will be coming back soon, and I promise by then, the company will be doing totally fine. He said with conviction in his voice. “Meeting adjourned.”
Shaking their heads, one by one all the board members filtered out of the room including Xander, leaving Caster to his brooding thoughts.
