Chapter 223
Felicity was all over the headlines. Every news anchor reported the incident. The internet nicknamed her the ‘Usurper‘ because of the way she dethroned Caster from his position.
Calmly, she stood strong and answered all the questions the Press had. She revealed her involvement with Mario and introduced Xander as the new CEO of Walker Corporation. She even announced that the company’s name would be changing soon under new management.
Some fans praised her and said she was the face of women’s empowerment. An inspiration. They marvelled at how she, the enemy, had successfully crept up the ladders of Walker Corporation and stole leadership.

Amidst the praise, Felicity also faced a torrent of backlash. Others called her a snake and lamented at how she had ended the Walker family line by putting the only heir in jail. The details of Caster’s crimes had been viciously exposed by her, and he could spend years, if not a lifetime, in prison.
Netizens reprimanded her for dragging him through the mud like that for ‘no good reason: Others assumed it was because of their generational feud and called her extreme.
Felicity was ready to receive backlash for what she had done. After all, in the eyes of outsiders, her action was bizarre, excessive, and out of bounds.
In fact, she wouldn’t have forced Caster out this early if it wasn’t for his threat. She had to silence him before he could silence her. And she did just that without regret.
Now on her bed with an ice pack to her neck, offering scant relief from the throbbing pain, she listened to Cassandra’s incessant rant about the consequences of acting rash.
Tuning Cassandra out, the weight of everything weighed on her
From an actress who had fallen from glory to a successful CEO with two companies under her management. If that wasn’t success, she didn’t know what was.
Caster was also locked behind bars. Finally, she could have a sigh of relief. Her grievances were almost settled.
As for the hate she was currently receiving, it didn’t matter to her. This wasn’t the first time the internet had criticised her. Whatever they said was the least of her concerns.
Suddenly, Felicity’s door creaked open and Noah walked in, cutting off Cassandra’s yapping. Cassandra quietly left the room to give them some privacy.
The silence hung heavy in the air between them. It was Noah who broke it.
“What did you do?” There was a frown on his face as he watched her from the edge of the bed. His eyes fell to the bruise on her neck and his scowl deepened. “That bastard.”
Seeing the concern and anger in his eyes at her bruises, Felicity felt a flutter in her stomach. She quickly coughed to hide her fluster and said, trying to sound casual despite the wobble in her voice. “Don’t act surprised. I warned you I would be on the news.”
Noah’s voice was serious, but his face held a hint of amusement. “But you didn’t tell me you were going to erase a family from the social ladder. Socialites are pissed.”
She snickered, unbelief lacing her voice. “The same socialite who had abandoned the Walkers in their time of need? I don’t care if they’re pissed. They can shove it up their asses. Pretentious bunch.”
Noah raised a brow. “So you can manage two conglomerates on your own? There is more to Walker Corporation than what meets the eye. The place is filthy.”

“I know and I am already on it. Purging all the corrupt employees was the first thing I ordered.” Felicity countered. “Why do you care anyway? I thought you were avoiding me.” She added, irritated.
“I care because I’m your husband and I promised to keep you safe. Seeing you being strangled on national TV isn’t the slightest bit entertaining,” Noah snapped, the anger he felt when he saw Caster’s hand wrapped around her neck resurfaced. God knows he wanted to end the unfortunate soul there and then.
“And I’m not avoiding you.” He added.
Rolling her eyes, Felicity massaged her neck as she sarcastically replied. “Oh really? You rarely speak to me nor do you look at me.”
Noah smirked, all previous traces of anger vanishing. “If you want to spend alone time with me, just say so. No need to throw a tantrum.”
Felicity took a deep breath, turning her gaze from his handsome face. “I’ll pass. As for this issue, I’ll be fine. Worry about yourself. You’re in bigger trouble than I am,” she spat, referring to Kagen. “Have you found him yet?”
“I’m on it.” He responded, hands in pockets. “I think he’s in hiding.”
“Of course he is,” She sneered, recalling the huge scar she had drawn across his face. No doubt he was still recovering from
Her gaze shifted to Noah whose eyes were still fixed on her. “If that’s all, you can go. I need to rest.” Her words were dismissive and curt.
Instead of leaving as she requested, Noah stepped closer to the bed, lowering himself until they were face–to–face. “I’m all for women’s empowerment,” He began, his tone gentle yet firm, “but next time, before you pull a stunt like this, you tell me. I don’t like seeing you with bruises.”
“I’m not your property,” She snapped, eyes flashing with defiance. “I can do whatever I want.”
The corner of Noah’s mouth twitched, a terrifying smile spreading across his face. “Are you sure about that?” he asked, his voice an icy whisper. “Don’t forget, I kill for fun. Try this again and I won’t give you the satisfaction of eliminating your enemies yourself.”
The words hung heavy in the air. With a quiet confidence, he straightened up. “Apply ointment to that and get some sleep. I’ll be home late.” He said over his shoulder before leaving the room.
Dazed, Felicity finally came to her senses and swore under her breath. She had forgotten about Noah’s dark side and had to admit that she found him sexy when he threatened her.
“What’s wrong with me?” She hissed as she chastised herself for her reaction to him. She blamed her prolonged celibacy for her shamelessness. One night with a man should bring her back to her right senses.
The shrill ring of her phone snapped Felicity out of her musings, the caller ID bringing with it a jolt of anxiety.
“Hey, Dad,” She answered cautiously, dreading her father’s reaction.
“Felicity Orion,” Connor’s stern voice came. “What in God’s name is wrong with you? Do you know how much trouble you’ve caused?”
“Dad, calm down.” She tried to placate him.
“Calm down?!” He yelled and she winced when she heard him slam the table in the background. “Don’t tell me to calm down. First, Caster confronted us yesterday, now he’s in jail. What exactly did he tell you for you to act this way? And since how long have you been planning this?”
“But Dad,” Felicity protested, “they threatened to kill you several times. They’re all pieces of shit!”
