Chapter 8
Felicity received a text message from her father the following morning reminding her about the party they were hosting that evening when she woke up.
Leave it to the Orion family to throw a party without prior warning, out of the blue.
Fortunately, this party provided her with the means to achieve her goal. From this. point forward, she would slowly fix her reputation.
She got out of bed and was shocked by the state of her apartment. It was a mess. She was so tired yesterday that she hadn’t noticed.
Dust, plastic, and wrappers were everywhere, owing to the fact that she did not use the apartment on a regular basis.
First, she cleaned the house, and then she cooked and ate. After which she went to take her bath. She decided to wear leggings and a hoodie. She didn’t apply too much makeup.
She was going dress shopping and Georgia offered to come with her. She had no choice but to agree. They met at Ever Mall, an upscale mall that was situated at the heart of the city.
Georgia was already there when Felicity arrived and they went to a fancy dress store.
Top families from all over the city were invited to the party and as the host, they had to -look nice. It was a necessity.
Felicity particularly wanted to look good because she knew they would be making the headlines tomorrow after what she had planned tonight.
“This will look good on you,’ Georgia said, gesturing to a dark, sparkly ball gown that had so many frills on it that even Cinderella would be embarrassed to wear it.
It was a house party, not a royal ball.
But of course, Felicity wasn’t surprised. Georgia would always persuade her to put on the ugliest of things and as the fool that she was, she always went on with it.
“It will look better on you,” Felicity said with an innocent smile as she signalled the attendants to bring down the dress for Georgia to try it on.

Georgia’s eyes widened when she saw that her plan had backfired, “No, I think I will keep looking.”
When Felicity saw that Georgia had rejected the dress, her expression fell. “Oh, Okay, if you insist,” she said, and she carried on looking for a dress.
Georgia frowned as she watched Felicity walk to the other side of the room with attendants behind her. Although Felicity’s reputation was ruined, she was still the only daughter of the Orion family and the heir to the business. She wasn’t to be mes 1 with and people naturally treated her with respect even though they sneered behind her.
There was something different about Felicity, Georgia noticed. She couldn’t quite place a finger on it. Felicity always used to listen to anything she had to say but that had changed in the last two days. Felicity was no longer wearing her twenty-four-hour award-winning smile; instead, she was aloof and defiant.
She was different.
Georgia could no longer read her since Felicity’s face was always masked with a cold. expression.
‘Did she find out about Caster and I?’ Georgia unconsciously kneaded her forehead, deep in thought while the attendants behind her were getting impatient that she hadn’t picked a single dress.
Felicity on the other hand had picked a dark green off-shoulder mermaid dress. She fell in love with the dress and went to the changing room to change.
The dress fitted her like a glove, hugging her slender hourglass form. She nodded in satisfaction and went to purchase the dress.
“I will take this one,” She handed the dress over to the attendant for packaging. Suddenly, Georgia’s voice rang through the store drawing everyone’s attention.
“Felicity, are you sure you can afford that? Remember you have to spend wisely since Uncle cut you off. I can take out a little money from my savings and pay for you to lessen your burden.”
The few people in the store recognized the two girls immediately. In the entertainment business, they were well-known as the Blossoming Rose and the Man Chaser, Felicity being the latter.
Whispers started round the room as everyone threw Felicity’s snide looks.

“How can she come here without any money? What a freeloader.”

“Her father cut her off? Serves her right. I too would be ashamed if she was my daughter. Did you see the article yesterday?”
“Poor Caster was dragged into her schemes.”
“Georgia is such a wonderful person. Always looking out for the less privileged.”
Felicity paid no attention to the murmurs. Their mindless talks wouldn’t hurt her. She had been through worse.
To everyone’s surprise, she disregarded Georgia’s words and pulled out a platinum card from her purse.
The cashier used it and it worked.
Felicity took the packaged dress before announcing, “Even if my father cuts me off a hundred times, buying this store wouldn’t leave a dent in my account.”
She threw a cold look at the girl who had referred to her as less privileged. The girl cowered when she felt Felicity’s piercing gaze.
Felicity recognized her.

Her family was invited to their party tonight. She was one of those girls who used other people’s weaknesses as an excuse to feel better about herself.
Felicity shook her head. If only that girl knew that her family’s business would go bankrupt in two years and she would end up marrying a man twice her age to save it. What a pity.
“Georgia, you should save your money and stop worrying about me. I can take care of myself.”
“Sure.” Georgia turned in embarrassment as she handed her card to the cashier. Felicity. had just spelled out the difference between them.
While Georgia only had a few savings, Felicity could buy a whole store if she wanted to. This made Georgia grit her teeth in anger as they left the store.
They proceeded to two other stores to purchase shoes and jewellery before going their separate ways. Felicity drove straight home after the long day.

She kept getting the feeling that someone was following her while driving, even though she could not see any cars that were actively pursuing her. After some time she shook the feeling off.
Collapsing on her bed, Felicity gazed at her credit balance.

She groaned as looked at her screen.
Truthfully, Felicity was broke. She was an actress who hadn’t acted in a decent role in two years while spending her money extravagantly on clothes. Of course, she was penniless. She had just said those things at the store to shut those girls up.
This made her realise that she had to get a role soon or she would die of starvation.
