Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 74

Chapter 74
The boundroom was tense as Felicity walked to the head of the table. She did a slight bow to the shareholders as a form of rest before taking her seat
Among the faces she recognized was Henry Lyon, her dad’s friend, who looked at her with pride and encouragement. She gave him a nod of a knowledgement in return.
Unfortunately, Patricia was also present. Despite the fiasco yesterday, she deemed it important to be present to the meeting as she also had shares in the company.
When their eyes locked. Patricia threw her the fakest smile ever which Felicity returned with one of her own before looking
Searing ber throat, she began. “Good morning, everyone. I am Felicity Qion, and I will be running things in my father’s stead, who is undergoing treatment and would be temporarily unavailable to fulfil his duties at the moment. I’ll be overseeing the company for the meantime.”
The shareholders erupted in whispers most of which were unpleasant. They exchanged murmurs between themselves before one finally spoke up.
“With all due respect. Miss Orion, you are new to the business world and incapable of running the company efficiently. Why
hand over this responsibility to the seasoned adults, like your aunt, Patricia?”
don’t
Felicity sighed as she expected this. It would be unlike Patricia to not pull some strings in her favour on a special day like
tening her posture in her chair, Felicity locked eyes with the man who had voiced his doubts. “I understand your scrpticism, but rest assured, my father has been preparing me for this moment for the past twenty-five years of my life.”
“That’s not enough to convince us
Well I have my university certificate to prove my claim. Do you want to see it? I assure you my degree in business is spotless.” Felicity said, confidently. “While I may be a bit rusty, I have Beatrice by my side to guide me through every step. If you doubt me, then trust her. We won’t disappoint you” She pointed at the old assistant.
Another shareholder voiced out, “That may be true, but the market is ruthless. You may have a spotless degree, but you lack practical experience. We need to see results, can you provide that?”
know that I don’t have my father’s knowledge and experience but I assure you I will do everything in my power to keep
company stable and thriving How about this? If you don’t see any improvements in the next two weeks, I’ll willingly step down from my position.”
The room went silent at her bold statement. Some shareholder’s frowns deepened at her demeanour. Wasn’t she getting a little c**y for an amateur! How could she possibly do anything remarkable in two weeks! Impossible.
Patricia, however, was delighted by everything, feeling Felicity was digging her own grave. If Felicity failed to fulfil her promtuse, the shareholders would turn on her and by then, even Connor’s words would mean nothing. After Felicity failed, the company would fall back in her hands. It was simply exciting.
“Are you sure you can uphold that promise?” Patricia tried to hide her scom. “The public opinion of you is already quite bad. We don’t want to diminish it any further” She wanted to remind everyone of Felicity’s bad reputation
Feberty saw through her Patricia made one mistake though. This was a room filled with old men, and Felicity had made significant changes in her reputation. They didn’t quite care anymore.

Yes, Aunty, I’m sure,” She affirmed.
The share
shared one last sceptical look before nodding

We hope you don’t go back on your word when the time comes We’ll give you a chance to prove yourself. Know we are monitoring you very closely.”
Felicity nodded, gratefully. “Of course, thank you for your support.” She said.
“How is Connor, Felicity? Is his condition very serious?” Felicity turned to Henry who asked the question. Her eyes softened a little when she saw a hint of concern in his eyes. He was the only one in this den of wolves who asked about her dad’s well- being, she was grateful,
“He’ll be fine. He just needs a month or so to rest,” She reassured him before turning to the others, “Is there anything else? If none, this meeting is dismissed.”
As the others dispersed, only Patricia, Beatrice, and Felicity remained in the boardroom.
Felicity threw her Aunt a curious look, “Is there anything else you want to say? I’m afraid I have work to attend to. She said, rising to leave the room.
“Do you really think you can pull this off? Stop acting tough, I practically raised you. I can see through your facade. Why don’t you hand the company over to me and end all this unnecessary drama? Patricia said, haughtily.
Without turning back, she replied, “Firstly, you’re mistaken. You didn’t raise me, my father did. And let’s wait for two weeks before you judge my competence, shall we?” She paused, “Even if I fail, I’ll ensure you never lay a hand on my father’s company.
“Why the hostility? We are family. I wouldn’t do anything to harm your father. This is our business, and I’ll ensure its well- being. Leading a company at your age won’t be easy,” Patricia insisted
“I never claimed it would be,” Felicity replied over her shoulder, then left Patricia alone in the room, with Beatrice trailing behind her. She looked at her dad’s assistant, “Did I do well?”
Beatrice led her to her father’s office and opened the door, “I just hope you live up to your word, ma’am. If you really love your father, you wouldn’t let his hard work go down the drain.”
“I don’t plan to.” She affirmed.
Stepping into the sp***us office, she was in awe. Due to her busy schedule, she didn’t get to visit her dad much in the office, it had been a long time since she came to the company.
Several awards and books were hanging from the shelves. There was a great view of the city from the glass windows, and the wall above her father’s desk was a large picture of her. She was almost moved to tears by this. It was obvious how much her dad cared for her despite her foolish behaviour all these years.
She smiled, brushing the leather chair softly before sitting on it proudly. This was her responsibility now, maintaining the Orion legacy.
Beatrice entered the office with a mountain of files for Felicity to review and sign. Felicity thanked her as she accepted the
stack.
With only a hum in response, Beatrice left the room. Felicity knew it would take some time before they warmed up to each
other.
Felicity had a determined look as she gazed at the heap of paperwork. She took off her jacket, rolled up her sleeves as she
