Chapter 73
The next day. Felicity woke up feeling nervous, her reflection in the mirror mirroring her apprehension as she twirled in front of it for what felt like an eternity.
Dressed in a sleek suit with a black skirt, she was preparing for her first day at the company, determined to make a good impression. She finally sighed and put her hair in a low bun. She was ready.
Grabbing her bag, she went downstairs where Noah was waiting for her, also dressed for work.
T’ll be going now. Wish me luck,” Felicity muttered, forcing a smile despite her nerves.
“You look beautiful, and I know you’ll ace it…” With his hands in his pocket, his eyes trailed down to the slit on her skirt which gave a clear view of her s**y legs. “But I’m not a fan of your outfit,” He remarked.
Felicity’s eyes widened in concern. “What’s wrong with my outfit??
“I don’t like it.” He answered bluntly.
“Well, what’s wrong with it?” Felicity flung her hands in the hair in frustration.
He looked her up and down again before answering, “It’s going to distract your employees..especially the males. He whispered the last part..
Felicity glanced down at the slit on her skirt. It wasn’t too open and she was comfortable with it. If that was the only problem, then Noah would have to live with it.
‘T’m leaving, she declared.
Noah blocked her path and asked, “You aren’t changing?”
She lifted her purse and smacked him in the head, ‘Go away!”
Rubbing his head with an aggrieved look, Noah was slightly disappointed. This was what he got for caring.
When Felicity noticed his dejected expression, she felt a twinge of guilt and reached for his head to check if she had left a bruise. “Are you okay?”
Her actions brought a wide smile to Noah’s face. He suddenly felt better. “Don’t worry, I’m not hurt he cheekily reassured her, looking down at her.
As Felicity met his gaze, she realised they had drawn closer during their exchange, their proximity suddenly noticeable.
With her hand still gently resting on his hair, Noah’s eyes trailed down to her lips involuntarily, and he started to inch closer to her.
Subconsciously, Felicity also moved closer to him, their noses almost touching, their lips mere inches apart. A single movement from either of them would seal the kiss.
Just as Noah leaned in to connect their lips, Felicity abruptly snapped out of her reverie. Panicked, she slapped Noah on the face with her handbag again, breaking the moment.
“Get away from me. She yelled at him, cheeks flushed with embarrassment. She was mortified that she had almost willingly kissed him again. It was as if she was under a spell.

Chapter 73
Felicity couldn’t shake the memory of the kiss they had shared at the hotel and how she had let her exhaustion make her behave unusually, but she wasn’t about to make the same mistake again. Their relationship was simply a contract, She couldn’t afford to let things go out of bounds and be hurt in the end.
Noah, on the other hand, winced as he held the side of his face, “You didn’t say that two nights ago.” He murmured to himself but Felicity caught it.
“What happened two nights ago?” Felicity demanded, and then remembered how she had woken up with swollen lips the previous morning. It didn’t take long for her to connect the dots together, and she gasped inr ealisation. Eyes wide and pointing at him in accusation, she said, “You took advantage of me, didn’t you? How dare you?”
Noah’s eyes widened in disbelief at the accusation. “I took advantage of you?” he echoed, shaking his head. “No, it’s the other way around. You took advantage of me.”
Furious, Felicity scoffed. “I would never do that. It’s absurd. You’re definitely lying, you piece of *sh*t.”
“I am anything but a pe***rt who takes advantage of vulnerable women, Noah retorted defensively.
“Says the sc**bag who just tried to force a kiss on me,” Felicity shot back.
“No, you inched closer too. You totally wanted that to happen.” Noah countered, a grin playing on his lips.
Felicity was unable to counter him because deep down she knew he was right. Instead, she stormed up to him and delivered a swift kick to his shin with her stiletto. As Noah recoiled in pain, she took the opportunity to escape the awkward confrontation.
Shipping into her car, Felicity heard Noah call out behind her, “I pick you up after you’re done with work to celebrate.
Good luck!”
A smile slowly crept up her face, transforming into a toothy grin. But as she caught sight of her reflection in the driver’s mirror, she swiftly composed herself, acting as though nothing had happened. Without responding, she drove out of the
estate.
Arriving at the company, she donned on her dark shades to complete her fearless look and took confident strides into the building.
An official statement had already been released by her dad’s assistant about the temporary change in position, so the press were currently camped at the entrance eager to capture a hint of vulnerability from the ‘dainty- actress but Felicity didn’t spare them a glance.
As she entered, murmurs broke out among the employees, but they quickly subsided when Felicity’s dad’s long-time assistant, Beatrice who was waiting for her, shot them a glare, commanding their attention.
“Good morning, ma’am. The shareholders are waiting.” She politely informed Felicity before leading her to the elevator.
Beatrice was a forty-five year old woman who had worked for her dad for almost fifteen years. Felicity had only met her a handful of times and every time, she always spotted an emotionless look that even Felicity couldn’t read. But Beatrice was her dad’s most trusted ally so Felicity would have to trust her for now.
Similarly, Beatrice studied Felicity during the elevator ride. She had heard all the pasty rumours about her, but she refused to judge based on hearsay alone. Depending on how Felicity behaved, Beatrice would either stand by her or keep her
distance.
The two ladies stepped out of the lift with conviction in their hearts and determination in their steps. Their next hurdle; facing a room filled with wrinkly old men who think they know everything.

Felicity sighed as Beatrice opened the door. The shareholders all turned simultaneously to stare at her with disapproving
looks on their old faces.
But Felicity smirked instead. What a great time they would all have together.
