Chapter 67
Patricia struggled to conceal her frown beneath her forced smile feeling her carefully crafted facade begin to crack under scrutiny. From a hidden comer, she sensed the piercing gaze of the grinning man, unnerving her with its intensity as if he could see right through her.
She didn’t know who the man nor did she know his name. A friend of Felicity perhaps? She didn’t care, she just wanted him
gone.
Ian keenly observed Patricia’s behavior. Why did she seem displeased by her brother’s impending recovery? Was Connor’s illness really a coincidence?
lan wasn’t the only one that found it strange. Felicity also sensed something was wrong with her aunt’s demeanour. It couldn’t possibly be right? Didn’t her aunt want her father to recover? Why?
After bidding farewell to Gerald and Ian, Felicity returned to the ward. “Dad, did you hear? You’ll be getting better soon,” she announced with a hopeful smile.
“I’m glad.” Connor said with a smile. Before, he had given all hope of living but now he was told that there was a chance to survive. Of course he would jump at it. As long as he would get to see his daughter’s face for a longer time.
“Have more tea, Patricia interrupted, filling the cup to the brim with tea.
Felicity thought that it was too much but Connor gratefully accepted it.
“Aunty, have some too.” Felicity filled a cup and handed it over to her aunt, but she refused.
“No, I’m not thirsty.”
“This is medicinal, aunty. We don’t want you having heart problems too.” Felicity urged pushing the cup in her face.
“My heart is perfectly fine. I don’t want to drink. Patricia refused again.
Felicity pouted, “You keep feeding loads of this to my father but wouldn’t even take a sip? You should try it at least once.”
“I said no!” Patricia snapped, shocking everyone with her outburst.
“You didn’t have to yell.” Felicity muttered.
“Felicity, stop bothering your aunty. If she doesn’t feel like drinking then she shouldn’t drink Connor reprimanded his daughter.
Felicity nodded, “Then can I have some, aunty?” She asked Patricia.
Patricia nodded hastily, “Of course, you should take a whole cup
“Really? Then I will give Georgia some too when she comes.”
“No!” Patricia yelled once more, causing Felicity to cast a strange glance her way. Seeing their scrutiny, she attempted to regain her composure. “Well… um, Georgia doesn’t need the tea. She’s very busy, and it might make her drowsy,” she hastily explained before grabbing her bag. Im tired, I should go home. Connor, I’ll bring the paperwork for you to sign -tomorrow,” she said before swiftly exiting the room.
Felicity’s expression hardened instantly as she set her cup of tea aside. She also took her dad’s cup and poured it onto a plant by the window,

“Hey, what was that Tor” He shined.
For your own good” She replied. There was a nagging feeling within her that her aunt had done something had to harm them. The thought was an strong she couldn’t seem to shake it of Now, the needed something to confirm her suspicion.
Striding over to the trash, she retrieved the paperwork Patricia could discem most of the words

off.
Idishier. The paper was dry now, and Felicity
Her eyes widened immediately she read those words and as she read more, she grew more angrier that she wanted to bear someone. Her grip tightened around the crumpled pages.
She couldn’t believe it. Patricia was attempting to deceive her dad into signing over all his shares in the company. She was exploiting her dad’s condition to seize everything from him. It was the ultimate betrayal. How could she!
Felicity had found it suspicious that Patricia had been behaving weirdly. Spilling tea over important documents? Patricia wasn’t that sloppy. So, this was what she was planning. This was why she offered to take care of the company on Connor’s behalf. She wanted to take everything for herself.
Felicity scoffed. She shouldn’t be surprised, after all this wasn’t the first time. Patricia had also once shot her father’s door on her face. That scheming witch!
The painful part was that Patricia almost succeeded. If Felicity had wasted even a minute in coming to the hospital. Patricia would have gotten away with all her father’s shares.
“Are you alright?” Connor asked, noticing Felicity clenching the dirty paperwork angrily.
Felicity quickly composed herself. “I’m fine, Dad,” she replied, placing the documents in her bag before sitting beside him. “Daddy, do you trust me?”
Connor nodded without hesitation. “Yes, why do you ask all of a sudden?”
Felicity grasped her father’s hands firmly, her expression grave. “Promise me you’ll do as I say without question.”
“Why are you speaking like this? Is something wrong?” Connor asked, concern etched in his features.
Felicity shook her head, a dark smile playing on her lips. She couldn’t bring herself to reveal Patricia’s betrayal to him in his fragile state. The shock could be too much for him to bear.
“Nothing’s wrong. Just promise me you won’t sign any documents Aunty gives you,” She urged.
“But I need to sign the paperwork for the company to function smoothly, Connor protested.
“You need to focus on resting for your surgery. Leave everything to us. Don’t sign anything, especially when I’m not there,” Felicity insisted.
Connor sensed the gravity of the situation, though he couldn’t quite grasp the full extent. He nodded slowly. “I promise.”
“Good,” Felicity said, planting a gentle kiss on his forehead. Soon after, a nurse arrived, with medication, and Connor drifted -off to sleep.
Before leaving. Felicity grabbed the flask of tea. If her aunt could stoop to stealing a company from a sick patient, what else was she capable of?
