Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 66

Chapter 66
The next morning. Felicity began preparing to visit her father.
“How are you feeling?” Noah asked, still concerned about the previous night’s events,
“I’m alright, don’t worry, Felicity reassured him. “I was probably just stressed.”
“Hmm.” He hummed in response, still not entirely convinced. “Doctor Gerald will be coming to examine your father today”
“Doctor Gerald?” Felicity exclaimed with wide eyes, “That’s the doctor you were talking about? Doctor Gerald?” She asked

Noah nodded. “Yes, Doctor Gerald,
Doctor Gerald was renowned as an international heart surgeon, with a flawless track record. If he operated on her father, the chances of survival were high.
Felicity squealed with joy and hugged Noah. “Oh, my God, thank you so much. This means everything to me.”

“I’ve said it before, he’s my father too,” Noah reminded her. “And I don’t like seeing you sad.”
“I won’t be sad anymore,” Felicity muttered as she wiped tears of happiness from her eyes. “What can I do for you. in return I promise, I’ll do anything.
„Noah’s expression turned sombre at her words. He didn’t like it. I don’t need anything in return.”
“You must want something. Tell me, and I’ll get it for you, Felicity insisted
Noah sighed, his jaw clenched. “I’m not doing this because I want something from you. I did it because I care about you.”
Felicity was visibly taken aback by his candid admission of caring for her. It was the first time he had openly expressed it.
“You do?” Felicity asked, surprised by his declaration.
“Isn’t that obvious?” Noah’s tone softened, revealing his sincerity
“Everything comes with a price,” Felicity countered, sceptical. There was one thing she learned after everything that has happened to her, it was that nothing came freely.
“Not this,” Noah asserted firmly before leaving the room.
Felicity didn’t like the way things ended but she needed to finish getting ready to see her father. Noah had just helped her, it didn’t feel right to upset him so s0011.
She sighed before heading to the hospital to see her dad. Upon entering the wards, she found her father, Connor, and her Aunt Patricia in the middle of signing documents.
“What’s going on?” Felicity inquired, curiously.
“Your Aunt brought some paperwork from the oflice for me to sign,” Connor explained, squinting, struggling to read without. his glasses. His reading glances were still at the mansion.
Felicity approached to examine the documents closely.

“Thank goodness, my eyes are aching.” Connor exclaimed in relief. “Pour me some water,
“Have some tea instead, Patricia suggested, attempting to pour him tea from the flask as Felicity reached for the documents. Suddenly, the cup of tea tilted and poured on the documents, dyeing them brown. “Oh no, my hands shook. Old age is really getting to me. Patricia lamented, trying to clean the mess, but she only made it worse.
Felicity silently withdrew her hands as Patricia threw the ruined documents in the trash. “I’ll bring fresh copies tomorrow,” she assured Connor.
“No problem,” He replied casually, taking a sip of his tea.
Felicity sat beside her father, holding his hand. “Dad, I arranged for a doctor to see you today. He should be arriving soon.”
“What?!” Patricia exclaimed in anger, rising abruptly from her seat “How yould you make such a decision without informing
us first?”
“Why are you so upset? You should be grateful. I don’t need your permission to seek help for my dad,” Felicity retorted. “And besides, he knew about it.”
Patricia sinnered her anger slightly upon hearing this. She turned to Connor with a pleading expression. “Brother, why didn’t you tell me? These matters shouldn’t be left to children. Who knows what kind of doctor she invited. He may be a quack.*
“I trust Felicity. She’s not careless,” Connor reassured her, putting his faith in his daughter’s judgement.
“But brother, this is your health we are gambling with. The doctor here is a personal friend of mine, he reassured me that there is a ten percent chance of you surviving the surgery, Felicity might ruin that ten percent.
Felicity slapped a table in anger and glared at her aunt, “Can you even hear yourself? You want me to bet my dad’s life on a measly ten percent? If you really cared for him, you wouldn’t have uttered those words.” She spat.
Patricia raised her chin haughtily, her tone condescending. “Watch your tongue, young lady.”
“And if I don’t?” Felicity challenged her.
Before their argument could get worse, their confrontation was interrupted by the alarming sound of Connor’s heart monitor beeping uncontrollably. Connor clenched his chest in agony, his face contorted with pain.
“Dad!” Felicity rushed to his side in panic. “I’ll call the doctor. She wanted to leave but Connor stopped her, firmly gripping
her hand.
“Don’t go,” He managed to say between gasps. “Stay with me.”
“But dad you’re in pain.” Felicity protested.
“Connor, she is right. Patricia begrudgingly agreed.
“I know but it’ll subside soon. I’m used to it.” He said to them.
Felicity brushed her hair in frustration, feeling helpless as she complied with her father’s request, staying by his side.
In that moment, Felicity empathized with Noah’s frustration the previous night. Did he feel this powerless when she refused. to see the doctor when her chest was aching? It was infuriating.

“Nice to meet you, Miss Felicity. So, this is the patient,” He said, approaching Connor on the bed, who eyed him warily. He extended his hand, but Patricia slapped it away before he could reach Connor
“Felicity, take this quack and leave before I call security, Patricia ordered, pointing toward the door.

“You can’t just waltz in here and put your filthy hands on my brother. He already has a competent doctor, so leave.”

“Is this real? Doctor Gerald in the flesh?”
“I sure am. Nice to meet you,” Gerald replied.
“Doctor, do you know him?” Patricia asked, turning to the doctor. “My naive niece invited him. I’m afraid he might be a fraud”
“Who in the medical field doesn’t know him? He’s a legend,” The doctor responded with reverence. “Doctor Gerald, I just want to say that we are honored to have you here. Let us know if you feel uncomfortable in any way. Are you here for Mr. Orion?”
Patricia was stunned by everything that was unfolding. Could it be that this man was indeed a professional?
“Yes, I invited him to check up on my dad, Felicity informed him.
“Good, if Doctor Gerald performs the surgery, your father’s chances will greatly improve. The doctor said, excitedly.
Patricia clenched her fists tightly under her dress. Everything was going smoothly. Why did that spawn of the devil have to ruin everything?
She forced a smile. “I apologize for my earlier behavior. I’m just very protective of my brother, you see. He’s all I have left. Please, go ahead and check on him.”
Gerald nodded and retrieved his personal tools from the bag he brought with him. While everyone huddled in a corner, conducted a series of check-ups on Connor and performed blood tests.

Patricia smirked inwardly. “That’s the same thing the other doctor said. I guess we wasted our time and got our hopes up.”
“But” Gerald butt in, cutting her off, “If I perform the surgery. I’m confident he will survive.”
A smile creeped unto Felicity’s face. That was all the assurance she needed. “When do we set a date?” She asked, excited.
