Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 65

Chapter 65
Felicity, I told you to marry him in the first place, but you refuel, Connor complained, glaring at his daughter. “You see, a Tather knows best”
Yeah, you know everything.” Felicity accepted.
Connor huffed, glaring at Noah. “I don’t care about your background. I promise to avenge my daughter to the last drop of my blood if you hurt her. I’m not bluffing”
“I promise to take good care of her,” Noah reassured him.
“We will see about that, Connor snubbed him, turning to his daughter. “You should have told me you were getting married to him. I would have thrown a big wedding.”
Noah stood awkwardly as Connor gave him mixed signals. He didn’t know if the man was angry or glad that he married
Felicity.
“That was partially my fault. We didn’t want to draw attention to ourselves, so we kept it simple, Noah took the fall, earning another glare from Connor.
“Of course it was you,” Connor sneered.
“Deeply sorry.” Noah apologised.
Felicity rolled her eyes at her father’s acting. “Dad, stop being mean to him. It’s not good for your health. I know you are secretly glad to meet him. Haven’t you been trying to make a partnership with the Elsworths?”
Connor’s eyes widened as he tried to shush Felicity. “Don’t say that in front of him,” He whispered. “At least let me get to know the punk first.”
“Stop calling him that.”
“I can still hear you guys,” Noah announced. “I would also like to get to know my father-in-law better.”
Felicity watched in amazement as Noah and her father immediately hit it off. They started conversing like long-lost brothers- who had just found each other.
Unfortunately for Connor, Noah had to leave at some point to attend to urgent matters in the office, but he promised to visit again
“Now, I can die in peace knowing you are in good hands,” Connor laid on his bed with a smile.
Felicity frowned. “Don’t say that. Didn’t you hear your son-in-law? He is going to bring the best surgeon for you. You will get better.”
Connor didn’t answer and only requested for some tea, which she poured for him..
“Where did you get this tea?” Felicity asked out of curiosity.
“Patricia gave it to me when I started experiencing pains. They help to relieve me,” Connor explained.
“Really?” Felicity said as she poured herself some too. The tea tasted light and smooth in her mouth, and the fragrance was wonderful. She didn’t know when she finished the whole cup. “It’s really good”

The two chatted for a while until Felicity had to leave for home. As much as Felicity wanted to spend the whole day with her dad but the hospital policy prevented her from doing so, by the way, he needed some rest.
By evening, Felicity was already in bed, reviewing some documents. Noah came out of the bathroom and joined her.
“How is your dad?” He asked.
“He’s fine. He really liked you.”
“I tend to have that effect on people,” Noah replied smugly, making Felicity roll her eyes.
“How was the meeting?” She asked, still focused on the documents.
“It was fine,” When Noah saw her attention was somewhere else, he snatched the documents from her. “You should get some
rest.”
“I can’t afford that right now,” Felicity argued, trying to reach the documents, but her hands weren’t long enough. Instead, she fell over and landed right on his chest.
Shocked, trey remained in that position for a while. Felicity felt Noah’s hand encircle around her waist, trapping her.
She froze, drawn in by the intensity of his gaze as she looked up into his captivating eyes. His eyes shimmered like diamonds, reflecting the passion and longing he felt for her. So many emotions were present in them. It was like a window to his soul.
Felicity couldn’t bear it and looked away hastily. “Let me go,” she demanded.
“No,” Noah said firmly.
“No?” She asked, surprised.
“No.” He affirmed, drawing her closer to him. “Let me hold you for a while please.”
Hearing his plea, Felicity decided to give in to his demand. She nestled against his chest, feeling the rapid beat of his heart matching the rhythm of her own. She should not have felt the intense desire that his touch ignited in her, sending chills down her spine, and it scared her.
“Why were you avoiding me?” Noah’s chest vibrated as he spoke.
“What do you mean?” She asked, even though she knew exactly what he meant.
“Since the party, you’ve been avoiding me. Did I do something wrong? Noah asked softly. Felicity thought she heard a trace of sadness in his voice.
“You did nothing wrong.” She answered earnestly, her fingers tracing invisible patterns on his chest.
“Then why?” Noah’s eyes searched hers.
Felicity struggled for words as she didn’t know what to tell him. How could she explain to him that Axel’s words had gotten
to her? She couldn’t
“Do you think I’m vicious and wicked?” She finally asked. “I’ve ruined so many people’s lives. Aren’t you disgusted by me?”

“No. He answered in a heartbeat, “Those people tried to harm you. Left to me, I would have gouged out their eyeballs. If they didn’t try to hunt you, you wouldn’t have retaliated.”
He was wrong. Felicity thought. Regardless of whether they had tried to hurt her or not in this life, she would have still dragged all of them down to despair.
“Nothing you do can ever disgust me. You’re perfect,” He added, brushing back her hair. “Is that the reason you avoided me? You should know me better than that by now.”
Felicity sighed and nodded. As his words washed over her, she felt a rush of relief and gratitude. You are right. Thank you very…” she suddenly frowned and clenched her chest with a grimace.
“What’s wrong?” Noah sat up, holding her tightly in his arms. His face was filled with worry.
“It hurts,” She managed to say between gasps. It felt like her heart was being stabbed by a thousand needles. It was excruciating, so much so that beads of sweat started to form on her forehead.
Noah started to panic, seeing her in this state. “I’ll take you to the hospital.”
“No it’s getting better,” Felicity breathed a sigh of relief as the pain started to subside.
“I should call the doctor just in case,” Noah pulled out his phone to call, but Felicity adamantly declined.
“I’m fine now. Don’t worry,” she stroked his arm to calm him down.
“Are you sure?” His eyes scanned her thoroughly.
“I’m sure. I’m just stressed. I should go to bed,” Felicity said.
“Yes, do that.” Noah tucked her into bed and watched until she eventually dozed off. Only then did his heart calm down. When he saw her in pain just now, he almost lost it. He stroked her hair and planted a kiss on her forehead, “What are you doing to me?” He murmured before laying next to her.
