Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 68

Chapter 68
At midnight, Felicity found herself in front of the Elworth mansion. She sat in her car for some minutes before deciding to step out. Whatever happened, she needed some answers even though it might hurt like hell
She took a deep but shaky breath as she made gentle strides of determination into the house.
Rebecca was sipping a glaw of juice, eyes glued to the TV when she walked in. Seeing Felicity, her eyes lit up. “Darling, you are here: Come, sit with me.”
Felicity smiled and went to sit beside the bubbly woman. “Where is father?” She asked
“Somewhere in the house, Rebecca murmured. The house was so big that she sometimes got lost in it. “Anyway, why did you drive all the way here? What was so urgent that couldn’t wait till morning?
“It’s about my dad,”
“Oh. I heard he was in a critical condition. I hope his heart gets better soon.” She patted Felicity’s back in sympathy.
Felicity frowned, “How do you know he was in the hospital? I never told you that. Her dad’s hospitalisation was a secret from the public and she was confident Noah had not told his parents about it.
Rebecca chuckled lightly. “Nothing escapes the shadows, dear. He’s a master of concealment.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean I know more than you think, and soon, you will too,” Rebecca cryptically replied, setting down her juice. “Now, how can I help you?”
Felicity then remembered the real reason why she came here. She reached for the flask of tea in her bag and gave it to Rebecca. “Could you identify this tea for me? You’re the only one I know who can help me with this.”
Rebecca took the flask and brought it close to her nose for a sniff before bringing it to her lips. After tasting it, she brought back down the flask with a blank expression, “Where did you get this from? It’s very rare and expensive.”
“From a relative, she claims it’s a good pain reliever.”
“Where did she get it from?”
“Abroad,” Felicity answered hesitantly, “Is there something wrong with the tea?”
“It’s not tea.” Rebecca replied gravely.
Felicity’s eyes widened in shock and her heart raced, “Then what is it?”
“This is Orpi, also known as Worm… It’s poison” Rebecca answered.
Felicity froze in her seat and her eyes widened a fraction, “Poison…” she repeated slowly. “I don’t mean to be rude but are you certain?” She asked Rebecca.
“Don’t doubt my judgement. I have a garden of Orpi planted somewhere in this house, it’s not my first time encounter with it, She said before frowning, “Nobody drank this, did they?”
Felicity went silent as she tried to comprehend everything she was hearing.

Chapter 88
“Orpi is highly dangerous, Rebeca cominued, her voice tinged with urgency. “It’s a slow-acting poison, hence the name worm Its fragrance and taste make it easy to mistake for tea, but it’s lethal. Once it’s ingested, the victim experiences severe pain as the poison gradually destroys their body tissues. Eventually, it reaches the heart, causing a fatal heart attack. Doctors often can’t detect it, and the victim dies without knowing the real cause.”
Felicity swallowed. “Do you perhaps know the symptoms of those who took this?”
“Absolutely” Rebecca nodded, eager to share her knowledge. “The poison is so inconspicuous that most doctors wouldn’t be able to detect it. Its main focus is the heart. It causes severe pain to the victim as it slowly eats them away. The pain is like that of a thousand needles stabbing your body. At the last stage, the victim dies from a sudden heart attack and nobody knows the real cause of their deaths. It is an effective way of killing an enemy without getting caught.” She added.
With every person second Felicity grew more scared. Rebecca had just described her father’s exact symptoms. This meant that it was the tea making her father sick.
-The pain was like that of a thousand needles- she suddenly recalled last night when she felt a strange pain in her heart Was that what her father had been experiencing for months now!!
Thave one last question,” Felicity whispered, “Could the tea have been purchased by mistake!”
“No,” Rebecca didn’t waste any second answering “As I said, it is very rare. It’s not something you can come across accidentally, that’s like handling a diamond to a child, no. Things like this are requested and handsomely paid for. A sachet of Orpi is a million dollars. Who would waste one million by mistake?” She concluded, “It’s safe to say that that relative of yours wants someone dead.”
With that, it felt like the whole world around Felicity had crashed. Her suspicions were right. Oh, how badly she wanted them to be wrong.
She shakily picked her bag, “I’ll be on my way
now.
“All of a sudden? Wait, are you alright.. Before Rebecca could finish, Felicity had already taking off from the room
Tears blurred her vision as she fled outside. She clenched her chest in pain before collapsing on the floor, her body jolting with s**s.
Her dad… her poor dad. He was never sick. He was murdered! By his own sister!
All this while, Felicity thought she was responsible for her dad’s death and illness but it was Patricia all along. She guilt. tripped her into taking the fall. Felicity bore that blame on her shoulders for years!
Even though Patricia was terrible, Felicity never thought she was this bad. Connor had always treated his sister with kindness and love, so why would Patricia do this to him?
“Dad,” Her voice cracked as she cried. This was the height of it all Patricia and her daughter were going to pay dearly for this. Suddenly, a jacket was draped over her shoulders. She looked up to see a shadow hovering over her. It was Noah.
His expression hardened as he took in her tear-streaked face. She had been so absorbed in pain that she didn’t even hear him approach. It was the first time he had seen her this pitiful. He crouched down beside her. “Who hurt you?”
Felicity’s eyes welled up once again as she collapsed in his chest, her voice choked with emotions, “Noah, they killed him. They killed him.”
Noah didn’t have to think twice to know what she was talking about. lan had reported to him everything that happened in the hospital. It only took one visit for him to deduce that Patricia was responsible for Connor’s condition and had informed him.

“What do you want to do? Noah asked, patting her back.
Felicity clenched her fist, glaring into the night. “I want to ruin
“Then we will do that. Let’s go home Noah carried her to his car and drove back to the estate.
When they got home. Felicity went straight to the wine rack. She downed one glass after another to numb the pain. Noah jouned her instead of stopping her. Sometimes it was alright to face the pain instead of avoiding it
know. Patricia is a despicable person, but I didn’t know she could be this heartless,” Felicity slurred as she downed another glass of wine. “My dad was so good to her. How could she do this? How? We were supposed to be a family? Families don’t kill each other”
Noah sighed, “Some people do bad things for s**d reasons.”
“That doesn’t make any sense. My dad would have given her anything yet she tried to kill him,” Felicity spat, “T’ll kill her and her spawn”
“Good”
A bitter laugh escaped her lips, ‘Aren’t you supposed to stop me or give me some motivational talk to change my mind? You encouraging me to kill is so not normal”
Im not good at motivational talks and sometimes it’s best to pay evil with evil” Noah took a sip from his glass, “That way, your enemies are taking care of once and for all.”
