Chapter 59
At exactly 7:00 p.m., Felicity was dressed in one of the dresses Vicky had given her. It was a long, dark silk mermaid dress with a slit at the side, exposing her fair legs. She wore a white pearl necklace and bracelets to compliment the dress.
Donned in a gold mask over her eyes, she looked like a villainess ready to incapacitate all her enemies.
Felicity stared at her reflection with a distant look in her eyes. So much had changed in the five months since she came back in time, but whether her fate would change for the better started from this night.
This night-the same night her baby was murdered. This night-the first time she had been close to death’s door. All in the arms of a foe who just couldn’t get enough of seeing others miserable. Tonight, she was going to avenge her unborn child” who never got to see this world. She was going to ruin Vivian. Her revenge had finally started.
Stepping out of the bedroom. Felicity made her way to the sitting room, where Noah was waiting for her. He was dressed casually in a white shirt and some pants.
He gave Felicity a once-over before saying, ‘Let’s go. I’ll drop you off.
“Are you still mad at me?” Felicity asked.
Noah mustered a small smile. “How could I possibly be?” He then linked her arm with his and led her to the car.
Twenty minutes later, they were parked in front of the Walker residence. Felicity stared at the building and tried not to let any of her emotions slip.
“Pick me up by ten,” She instructed Noah and tried to get out of the car, but he stopped her.
“You have to wait for your escort.”
“What escort?” Felicity inquired.
Immediately, there was a knock on the window of the car. Felicity turned and was startled to see a fox mask in her view. A hand pulled it up, revealing the smug face behind it.
“No, why did you invite him?”
“Ian was very busy. Either he goes with you, or I do, or we all go home, Noah said, leaving no room for argument.
“But-
“Come on, Mrs. Felicity Elsworth. I’m not particularly thrilled with the idea either, but at least I have the decency of hiding it,” Axel interjected, lowering his mask back to his face. “I was promised some drama. Hope you live up to it, dear sister-in- law.”
Felicity scoffed and turned to Noah. “Are you serious? Is this your way of punishing me?”
“I can’t let you walk into that house alone. Enjoy the party. I’ll be here when you’re done”
Felicity had no choice but to leave the car with Axel beside her. The fool was grinning widely under his fox mask as he led Felicity into the mansion.
As they entered the mansion, a wave of nostalgia hit Felicity like brick. Everything was just as she remembered it: the paint on the walls, the crystal chandelier hanging from the ceiling, the marble floors-everything was the same.
Chapter 59
Memories flashed into her head causing her heartbeat to increase as she stood rooted to her spot. The urge to run away from there was so overwhelming that she started to tear up.
“Are you alright?” Axel asked, noticing the look in her eyes. “Let’s go. Don’t you want to deal with these people?”
Π
Felicity recovered after hearing his voice. He was right; she had come here to punish these people, and she wouldn’t let her fears get in her way.
She blinked away her tears. “I’m alright. Let’s go.
The party was already in full swing as impeccably dressed guests filled the mansion. A light buzz of conversation filled the
air.
Felicity couldn’t recognize anyone since they were all wearing masks.
“Felicity, you’re here. A familiar voice sounded behind them.
They tumed and came face to face with Caster, who was in a white suit with a black mask hanging from his head. Beside him stood Vivian in a red dress, shooting daggers at Felicity with a face full of makeup.
Felicity was surprised to see her still standing after what happened. She expected Vivian to be bedridden somewhere, but the girl recovered quickly.
“Mr. Walker, Vivian,” She nodded at them.
“I’m so glad you could make it,” Caster said before glancing at Axel. “And this is?”
“Derek,” Axel lied to Caster without removing his mask. At that moment, Felicity thought he truly resembled a fox. “You have such a lovely home.”
Since Axel didn’t introduce his last name, Caster became suspicious. When people in influential circles introduced themselves, they usually included their last name to signify their family.
Axel hadn’t done that. Did that mean he was a nobody? But he wasn’t looking like one. He was exuding the air of an arrogant heir. Caster recalled the car he had seen that day at the restaurant. It wasn’t a car that a nobody’ could afford. If Axel was indeed that man, why was he trying to hide his identity?
The most bothersome part was that he couldn’t see what Axel looked like with that hideous mask on his face.
“Felicity, can I talk to you for a moment?” Caster asked.
“We don’t have anything to discuss,” she curtly replied. She hadn’t come to the party for him; she had come for a greater purpose. She turned to Vivian. “I heard the party was to celebrate you, Congratulations.” She opened her hands for a hug.
Vivian would rather die than hug Felicity, but the whole room was discreetly watching them. If she refused Felicity’s hug, they would say she was being rude, so she had no choice.
The hug was short and awkward. As they pulled away, Felicity’s brow creased in worry. “You look a Htile pale. Are you sick?” Vivian clenched her fist in rage at the question. She could see past Felicity’s facade to the hidden joy in her eyes.
“I’ll be fine,” she said before walking away.
Felicity watched her leave with a smile. “Enjoy the party, Mr. Walker,” she said to Caster before tugging Axel along. The fun would start soon, and she didn’t want to miss it.
