Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 38

Chapter 38
Felicity indulged in a celebratory dinner at a private restaurant renowned for its exquisite cuisine. Nestled in a secluded corner of the city, the restaurant exuded an air of exclusivity, with soft lighting casting a warm glow over the elegant decor and plush furnishings.
When she got there, the restaurant was empty and other customers had already finished their meals.
Seated at a cozy table by the window, Felicity admired the nice view of the city skyline glittering in the distance. She eagerly studied the menu, her mouth watering at the prospect of treating herself to one of the restaurant’s signature seafood dishes.
Seated comfortably, she eagerly placed her order, opting for a delectable seafood dish.
While awaiting her meal, she idly scrolled through the internet to pass
a**the time.
Stumbling upon Rita’s social media page, Felicity couldn’t help but notice the significant decline in her follower count and the ongoing barrage of criticism directed towards her.
Considering the implications, if Daunting Lullaby’s directors were to reject Rita, she would be left without a job.
While Georgia went unscathed, with minimal discussion about her, it remained a mystery how she managed to suppress all the hate directed towards her.
Meanwhile, the production team was diligently working to address the issue, aiming to resolve it swiftly so filming could resume without further delay.
As Felicity eagerly indulged in her meal, savoring each delicious bite, her enjoyment was abruptly interrupted by the waiter’s return. His apologetic expression hinted at unwelcome news. “I’m sorry to inform you, ma’am, but the entire restaurant has been booked by someone else. You’ll need to vacate your table.”
Felicity’s initial blissful expression quickly faded, replaced by a look of disappointment and disbelief. She glanced up her half-eaten plate, her fork suspended in midair.
“Booked out? But I just got my food…”
“I’m terribly sorry for the inconvenience. We weren’t aware of this booking until just now.”

She looked at her unfinished plate before looking back at the waiter, she sighed, “Just give me a few minutes. I will be done.” “I’m sorry but the customer insists you evacuate now. He wants to be alone.” The waiter said, pointing behind her.
Felicity glanced around to find the restaurant deserted, except for one familiar face in the corner: Jonah King. His smile and wave caught her off guard.
She briefly considered paying extra to stay and finish her meal in peace but quickly dismissed the idea. She couldn’t afford to be wasteful.
Despite her frustration, Felicity stood to leave, but Jonah intervened. “Felicity, since you’re here, there’s no need to rush off. I’d be a lousy co-star if I let you leave in the middle of your meal
“Don’t worry, it’s fine,” Felicity replied, though inwardly she felt uncomfortable being in the same space as Jonah. He gave her the creeps.
“You seem hesitant to leave your meal. Let me make it up to you for what I said the other day,” Jonah insisted.

Felicity hesitated, her gaze flickering to her plate. She eventually relented and returned to her seat to continue her meal.
Just as she was about to dig in. Jonah sat opposite her at the table and ordered his food. Felicity reasoned that since he had booked the whole restaurant, he could sit anywhere, and didn’t question him.
As his food arrived, Jonah dismissed all the waiters, insisting on privacy.
If anyone took a picture of them, it would appear as though they were on a secret date. Felicity hurried to eat her food, to leave as soon as possible.
“So, how has your week been?” Jonah attempted small talk.
“Fine.” Felicity replied curtly.
“Really? My week has been terrible with the break and everything. The internet is in chaos right now.”
Felicity remained indifferent and continued eating her meal-

Jonah tilted his head, observing Felicity with a wicked smile. “I admire how calm you are despite causing all this chaos. Do you really hate Georgia and Rita so much to do doing something so heartless?”
Felicity paused, her spoon suspended in the air. She glanced up at Jonah, who was still grinning.
“You’re surprised that I know, right? Yeah, I saw what you did,” Jonah chuckled. “You knew the drink was drugged and still let Rita drink it. I wonder what people would say when they find out about this.”
Jonah expected Felicity to crumble and beg for mercy now that he held this piece of information over her. But to his surprise, Felicity burst out laughing instead, her laughter filling the air and echoing in the restaurant. The grin slowly faded from Jonah’s face.
“What’s so funny? Why are you laughing? You think I won’t do it, Jonah demanded, glaring at Felicity in disbelief.
Felicity struggled to control her laughter, holding her stomach as tears welled up in her eyes. She banged the table a couple, of times, adding to Jonah’s bewilderment.
“You truly are naive,” Felicity remarked, finally catching her breath.
Jonah’s sneer intensified at the insult, his eyes narrowing with malice. “You’re insane. You’d better comply with my demands from now on, or the whole world will know what a despicable person you are. You can’t defend yourself; everyone would naturally believe me over you”
Felicity met his sneer with a cold stare. “If you think you can control me with that, you’re greatly mistaken, Mr. King,” she retorted. “Firstly, you lack any proof of your accusations. Secondly, I wasn’t the one who tampered with the drink, was 1?I simply passed a drink I didn’t like to someone who did. How was I supposed to know it was drugged?”
Jonah was left speechless, his anger fading as Felicity’s words sank in. He hadn’t considered the absence of evidence or the possibility that Felicity wasn’t directly involved. He realised his plan to manipulate her had backfired spectacularly.
“If that is all you have to say, then I will take my leave now.” She stood up and picked up her bag to leave.
“Hey!” He banged the table angrily, stopping her in her tracks. He grabbed her arm and pulled her roughly towards him, “Stop acting so tough. Do you know who I am? Someone like me shouldn’t be seen with the likes of you but I stooped myself so low and you have the guts to reject me?”
“Get your hands off me. Felicity calmly said, looking at him straight in the eye but his grip on her arm only tightened.

Jonah smirked, “Today, I’m going to teach you not to cross me.”
