Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 35

Chapter 35
Noal chuckled at Felicity’s question. “Don’t be nervous. My parents just like to show off sometimes. That’s all.”
Felicity couldn’t help but marvel at the extravagant display. If this was just showing off, then she had a lot to learn from them.
Her suspicions piqued, she narrowed her eyes at Noah. “Are you a prince?” she asked, half-jokingly.
Noah appeared amused by her question. “A prince? What gave you that idea?” he replied, shaking his head. “Let’s go. They’re waiting.”
Linking arms, Noah guided them inside. Inside the house, grandeur prevailed. Crystal chandeliers bathed the room in a gentle, golden light, illuminating intricately carved furniture and plush velvet drapes. The air carried the fragrance of freshly cut flowers and expensive perfume, wrapping them in an atmosphere of luxury and elegance.
“You grew up here? It’s stunning,” Felicity exclaimed in awe.
“It’s not all as glamorous as it looks,” Noah replied, his expression blank.
Felicity furrowed her brows. “What do you mean by that?” she inquired.
Noah smiled, but there was a hint of sadness in his eyes. “Nothing. We’re here,” he deflected.
Felicity’s gaze wandered until it settled on a striking couple seated at the dining table. As they approached, the thin woman rose with a warm smile.
“Honey, you’re here!” She exclaimed, planting a kiss on Noah’s cheek before turning her attention to Felicity. Her vibrant brown eyes scrutinized Felicity up and down, leaving her feeling exposed.
Felicity couldn’t help but be captivated by the woman’s stunning appearance. She finally understood where Noah inherited his good looks from – his parents were truly remarkable.
These were Rebecca and Finnic Elsworth.
Feeling a bit uneasy under Mrs. Elsworth’s gaze, Felicity nervously greeted, “Good day, Mrs. Elsworth”

Rebecca frown sofirmed into a bright smile. “You look even lovelier in person, she exclaimed, pinching Felicity’s cheek affectionately. “Noah, you naughty boy. Why didn’t you bring her home sooner?” she teased, slipping her arm through Felicity’s.
Relieved by the warm reception, Felicity braced herself for the next encounter – Noah’s father, Finnic. As he approached, she greeted him with a handshake.
He returned the gesture with a stoic look. “Welcome to the family, Felicity Elsworth,” he said, kindly.
A warm sensation enveloped Felicity as they led her to the table. Moments later, a feast was laid out, the aroma filling the air. The scent of roasted meats, fragrant herbs, and rich sauces mingled enticingly, whetting her appetite.
“I wasn’t sure what you like, so I told them to make everything,” Rebecca explained. “Thank you, Mrs. Elsworth. Everything looks exquisite,” Felicity replied gratefully.
“Drop the formalities. We’re family now. You can call me mother,” Rebecca insisted, her eyes shining with warmth.
“Mother,” Felicity echoed slowly, feeling a pang of nostalgia wash over her. It had been long since she called anyone that.
Rebecca beamed with satisfaction at Felicity’s address. “You know, I was starting to worry that my son was asexual. That’s why we were thrilled when he told us about you,” she revealed with a chuckle.
Felicity nearly choked on her food at the unexpected remark. She glanced at Noah, who wore a sour expression.
“How many times did I tell you my sexual orientation is fine?” Noah retorted, clearly exasperated.
“But you kept avoiding all the women I sent your way. I even asked Ian to seduce you at one point, thinking you were g**y, but that didn’t work either,” Rebecca explained with a serious expression.
Felicity struggled to stifle a laugh at the thought of lan attempting to seduce Noah. The absurdity of the situation was almost too much to handle.
“You really did that?” Felicity asked Rebecca, amused. Rebecca nodded in confirmation.

Leaning closer to Noah, Felicity teased, “Did you find Ian attractive?”
Save her a blank look before smirking, “Not as attractive as you.”

Rolling her eyes, Felicity returned to her dinner. Rebecca interjected with a smile, “You two look perfect together.”
Blushing at her words, Felicity continued eating. However, she noticed an extra plate on the table. “Are we expecting anyone else?” she inquired.
Rebecca answered, “Yes, I don’t know why that punk is running late.”
Felicity glanced around in confusion. “I thought you were an only child,” she whispered to Noah.
“I am. We’re expecting my cousin, Axel,” he explained, and she nodded before returning to her meal.
At one point, Felicity took a break to use the restroom. After finishing, she splashed some water on her face to calm herself down. The dinner was progressing smoothly, but she still felt anxious.
“Everything is going to be alright, Felicity,” she reassured her reflection in the mirror before exiting the bathroom.
As she rounded the corridor to the sitting room, she overheard snippets of Noah’s conversation with his father.
“This is serious,” she heard Finnic say with a grave tone.
“We were shot. It’s Mr. K. He saw her,” Noah’s voice came through the corridor.
“What?! How did that happen?”
“I don’t know, but I’m going to kill that b**d when I get my hands on him,” Noah replied angrily.
Felicity furrowed her brows in confusion. Who was Mr. K? And what did Noah mean by “we were shot”?
“I shouldn’t have dragged her into this,” Noah lamented.
Felicity tried to make sense of the conversation, wondering if the “her” referred to her.

She wanted to listen further, but a voice behind her interrupted and startled her.
“Felicity, what are you doing here? Let’s go sit with the others,” Rebecca said, dragging her back into the room.
Noah and Finnic acted as if nothing had occurred when they noticed Felicity and Rebecca entering the room. Noah locked eyes with Felicity and smiled, though she returned it with a forced smile of her own.
Despite their attempts to appear normal, Felicity sensed they were hiding something.. She couldn’t decide if she wanted to uncover their secret.
“Felicity, have some tea. It’s from China. It’s supposed to help with conception,” Rebecca suggested, offering her a cup.
Felicity began coughing and choking on her spit after hearing Rebecca’s words.
“Mom!” Noah exclaimed, clearly flustered. “We’re not ready for that yet.”
Rebecca defended herself, “I’m not pressuring you or anything. I just want you to be prepared for whenever you decide to have a baby.”
Yeah, no pressure, Felicity thought sarcastically as she eyed the cup. Deciding to try it, she took a sip and found it to be quite flavorful. She actually liked it.
“I like it. Do you have a lot of tea?” she asked Rebecca.
Rebecca nodded enthusiastically. “When I went to China, I learned a lot about herbs and teas. I have a variety of them, from healing ones to poisonous ones.”
Felicity didn’t inquire further about the poisonous herbs, but she admired Rebecca’s hobby. Maybe she should start growing poisonous herbs too, and deal with her enemies that way.
As she was halfway through her tea, someone else joined them.
“Hello, fams! I’m sorry I’m late. I had some issues to take care of!” a loud voice boomed.
Felicity felt a sense of déjà vu wash over her upon hearing the booming voice. She had heard it before. Turning to see who was speaking, she nearly dropped her cup in shock.
Sitting up straight, she rubbed her eyes to ensure she was seeing clearly. “What in the world?” she murmured in disbelief.

The speaker also paused when he caught sight of Felicity in the room. Frowning for a moment, he exclaimed, “Mrs. Get-the-hell-out-of-my-car? What are you doing here?”
