Chapter 206
Pacing around her room, Felicity grew anxious.
If Kagen was the son of who she suspected he was, then something had gone terribly wrong somewhere.
But before she could process her thoughts, the bedroom door burst open, and there stood Noah, flanked by Axel and Ian. His worried eyes scanned the room for signs of danger before his gaze settled on a dishevelled-looking Felicity standing at the center of the room like she saw a ghost.
Noah’s posture eased slightly, a frown tugging at his brows. “What’s wrong, Felicity? We heard you scream.”
Felicity blinked, trying to rearrange her thoughts. She struggled for an answer, her gaze drifting to the papers sc****red around her room like they could bail her out of the situation.
“I thought I saw a c***,” she said, her lie sounding weak even to her own ears.
The skepticism was practically written on the brothers’ faces. They all knew Felicity was far too resilient to be frightened by a measly c***h. But they also knew they couldn’t simply strong-arm the truth out of her.
Ian’s gaze swept across the files, his eyes lightening up. “Sister-in-law,” he said, his voice gentle but probing. “Did you figure something out? Is that why you’re so shaken?”
Felicity opened her mouth and closed it. What was she supposed to say? That she’d seen Kagen’s face and knew his identity… or what was left of it, and she may have been acquainted with the psychopath? No.
“N-No,” Felicity stumbled over her words before coughing lightly to cover up her nervousness. She was an actress for goodness sake, she could do better than this.
She then composed herself, drawing on the years of acting experience that had taught her how to present herself with confidence and poise. “Today was hectic,” she said, her voice regaining its composure. “I must have imagined the c**ach. I’m fine, really. Sorry for making you worry. I’ll sleep now to clear my head.”
She bent down to pick up the s****red papers, tucking them onto the nightstand, trying to conceal the tremble of her fingers.
“You’re not hiding anything from us, are you?” Axel’s question made her freeze in her tracks for a second but she quickly recovered, feeling the heat of his gaze drilling holes in the back of her head.
Slowly, she turned to face him, feigning confusion. “Why would you think that?”
“Because just a moment ago, you couldn’t even look at us,” Axel replied, his eyes narrowed. “And now you’ve apologised to us twice for no reason!
“Since when was being polite a crime?” Felicity retorted, not backing down because the moment she did, they would see through her facade.
Axel didn’t reply and stared at her, trying to find what she was hiding. Their staring contest lasted for a while until Noah stepped between them, looking equally serious and skeptical.
“Felicity, if you know something we don’t concern Kagen. It’s in your best interest you tell us. We want him gone just as much as you do.”
Felicity’s smile was deceptively sweet, and she held Noah’s gaze just long enough to appear sincere. “I’ll let you know if I find anything,” she replied smoothly, sidestepping toward the bathroom. She gestured to the door. “You can go now. I need to change.”
The three men, defeated, reluctantly exited the room, and the door clicked shut behind them. Felicity let out a long, deep

breath, the pretence of composure slipping away like a mask.
Outside Felicity’s door, Noah, Ian, and Axel shared a look. They’ve lived with Felicity for almost a year now and could read her better than most people. She had lied to their face.
“She knows something.” Noah stated, his voice a strained whisper. He stared at the door, the pain of Felicity’s perceived secrecy, a thorn in his heart. Once upon a time, they had shared everything.
Sensing Noah’s foul mood, Ian tried to reassure him. “Maybe she’s telling the truth,” he suggested.
But Axel was having none of it. “Come on, we all know she was lying. She probably knows Kagen’s identity,” he insisted, his tone growing more insistent with every word.
Ian countered. “How could she figure out something that we couldn’t find, even after looking through those papers so many times?”
Noah’s brows furrowed as he weighed Ian’s argument. His thoughts drifted back to the day Felicity was rescued, the shock and fear that had contorted her features. He swallowed hard, a cold realisation dawned on him.
Could it be that Felicity had recognized Kagen? Was it possible that she’d known him all along?
He turned to Ian. “Call Vicky. We might need her help.”
