Chapter 204
Felicity walked into her office, a familiar sense of nostalgia washing over her. She didn’t know Beatrice’s ever present scowl could ever brighten her day like it did today.
“Beatrice, I’m back!” she said, her smile genuine and radiant, as she gazed at her old assistant.
Beatrice, on the other hand, didn’t share her excitement. Her eyes travelled over Felicity’s form, her expression a mixture of distaste and annoyance. “Are you training for a skeleton advertisement?”
Felicity blinked, confusion rippling through her as she tried to make sense of the question. “No?” she replied, her voice questioning.
“Then you might want to add some meat to those bones.” Beatrice said, her eyes narrowing into a disapproving glare. “You look like a strong wind could knock you over. Not a good image for the company.” She clicked her tongue, shaking her head with distaste. “You have work to do.”
Felicity’s jaw tightened, her hands balling into fists, feeling like wringing Beatrice’s old neck. She had forgotten how brutal her honesty could be. It was a wonder Felicity hadn’t fired her for harassment months ago.
She didn’t have to point out Felicity’s significant weight loss that harshly.
“Are you coming?” Beatrice snapped at Felicity who was leering at her.
Felicity squared her shoulders, sauntering into her office with her head held high. “Give me all the reports,” she said, her voice cool and unwavering. “I’ll see to it that I catch up on everything I’ve missed.”
“Good.” Beatrice remarked, before filling Felicity’s desk with a mountain of paperwork. Her lips tugged when she saw the crestfallen look on Felicity’s face at the amount of work she had to do. She added, “This is just the first batch. I have two more in my office so you better hurry up.”
Felicity’s eyes narrowed at her. “Are you enjoying this?”
“Of course not.” Beatrice replied, smugly before leaving the office, shutting the door behind her.
Felicity sighed, gazing at the amount of work she had missed. It was so bad that she couldn’t recall the last project the company was doing before she left. She had a lot to catch up on.
Putting her handbag aside and turning off her phone, Felicity made herself comfortable, knowing she would be in the office for a long time.
Thankfully, most of the reports were good ones. During her absence, the company did not suffer any huge loss and was going smoothly. So smoothly that it didn’t look like she left in the first place.
Felicity smiled, grateful to Beatrice that she had done well in her absence. No wonder her assistant was so peckish. The last month couldn’t have been easy for her.
The familiar rhythm of work flowed through her as she quickly went through the first batch of paper works, and then the second, and finally the third. Before then, it was already night time. Her first day back at work was spent cooped in her office.
Turning on her phone, Felicity realised it was already very late. Deciding to take the rest of the documents home > finish, she began to pack her things, albeit slowly.
Going back to the Villa made her anxious. Remembering the awkwardness in the morning, she cringed. It felt like eternity when Axel, Ian, Noah, and her sat on the floor sharing pizzas while making jokes.
Those days are long gone now, replaced by the image of them standing emotionlessly over Wilfred’s body, whose death left her in a state of dilemma.

Chapter 201
If what Noah said was true and Wilfred really was working for Kagen, could she trust anyone again?
The world was two-faced anyway. Everyone around her was.
Dismissing her thought, Felicity decided to face her fears and return to the Villa. All through her drive back, her gaze kept wandering to the four jeeps that followed her. Two drove in front, and the other two trailed behind her.
Noah wasn’t kidding when he said she would have bodyguards. They weren’t intruding on her personal space but they also could not go unnoticed. Felicity didn’t complain as this was for her own good. She felt reassured knowing she was protected from all corners.
Getting to the Villa, Felicity noticed that all the lights were on. Someone was still awake.
