Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 202

Chapter 202
“Why did you kill Wilfred?”
Noah’s demeanour shifted in an instant. The playful glint in his eyes vanished, replaced by a sombre solemnity. This was a question he’d been expecting, one he’d been rehearsing in his mind for days. He would have been surprised if she hadn’t asked.
Looking at her earnestly, Noah answered, “I killed him because he was going to kill you.”
Felicity’s eyebrows furrowed, her mouth a thin line of disbelief. That’s a lie,” she countered, her voice trembling with anger. “He wouldn’t have hurt me. He was just a poor businessman,” she insisted.
Sighing, Noah massaged his temple gently. “Wilfred was not who you thought he was,” he began, his tone heavy with the weight of his words. “He worked for Kagen, spying on you.” He watched her expression, waiting for the revelation to sink in, but Felicity’s face was a mask of confusion, “Didn’t you find it odd that he was always there, selling at odd places? He wasn’t a real vendor.”
“Yes, he was!” Felicity snapped, hitting the table. She was definitely sure Wilfred was a real vendor because she had met him ten years later in that line of business. There was no way Wilfred faked his life for ten years.
“I’m telling the truth.” Noah tried to reason with her but Felicity didn’t want to hear it.
“You’re lying! I know the truth and that’s not it-
Exasperated, Noah cut in, reaching his limit. “Why are you so attached to Wilfred? You only met him twice! What did he mean to you?” He asked, annoyed. “I know it was terrible watching me kill. I’m sorry you had to find out about this side of my life this way, and for the trauma I undoubtedly caused you.”
Noah drew closer to Felicity, his voice dropping to a low, earnest whisper. “Felicity, I did what I did for you. I don’t kill because I like it. I do it because I have to, to protect myself, my family, and the people I care about.”
“Everyone who has died by my hands threatened our lives. I only killed Wilfred because I care for you.
Felicity wanted to believe him, and she would have if not for her personal encounter with Wilfred.
“He was a friend!” she cried, her voice cracking with distress. Tears welled up in her eyes as she tried to make sense of her feelings.
Why did Wilfred’s death affect her so deeply? Perhaps it was because he was the the one of the people she wanted to protect. And she had failed,
one person who had shown her kindness,
The accusation against him was simply ridiculous. If Wilfred was a spy and his business was a front, why would Wilfred have continued with his “business” ten years later? It made no sense.
And why had Wilfred been in front of that hospital the night of her death? If he was indeed working for Kagen, why would he be at a location that had nothing to do with Felicity in her previous life?
If he wasn’t spying on her, then he must have been on a mission and it had to be something relating to Noah.
Skeptical, Felicity asked, “What did you mean when you said Kagen was tied to me?”
“Maybe he knew me from TV” Felicity offered a potential explanation, but Noah’s grim expression told her it wasn’t that simple.
Noah shook his head. “No, that’s what I thought in the beginning. But it runs deeper than that. You might have actually been

Felicity paused, her mind going back to Kagen’s face. She bit her lip, hesitant
to voice the suspicion that had been gnawing at the back of her mind. The resemblance didn’t add up. She wouldn’t put it past Kagen to have plastic surgery to toy with her, but it seemed too far-fetched, too crazy to even consider.
Or maybe he was wearing one of his many disguises again. That would explain it. But still…
In the end, Felicity decided not to tell Noah anything. She had to be sure first. In that case, she had to get to work.
“So are you planning to silence me for discovering your family’s secret?” Felicity blurted out the question to Noah.
“Silence you? I would have told you sooner or later if you hadn’t found out the way you did.” His words were calm, but his furrowed brow spoke of a deeper distress that she would even consider such a thing.
Felicity’s eyebrows shot up in disbelief. “Really?” she retorted, her voice dripping with skepticism. “You would have told me, a contract wife, about your family’s secret?
“You weren’t a contract to me, Felicity.” Noah said softly. “Maybe our marriage was a contract once but it no longer is.” “What are you saying?” she asked, her voice high with uncertainty. “We aren’t getting a divorce by the end of the year?”
Noah laughed, a deep and rich sound that filled the room with mirth. “No, Felicity. You didn’t think I’d let you escape that easily, did you?”
Felicity stared into Noah’s eyes. The air between them seemed to crackle with unspoken questions.
Why wouldn’t he let her go? The words hovered on the tip of her tongue, but Felicity stayed silent, fearing the answer might be something that would stop her plans of leaving.
Instead, she slowly rose from her seat. Taking a deep breath, she said, “I want in on the investigation of Kagen. If he’s really tied to me, I want to find out how and bring him down myself.”
Noah’s expression flickered, the surprise apparent on his face for a moment before he regained his expecting a different question, but this one opened up a whole new avenue of possibilities,
