Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 201

Chapter 201
Connor’s enthusiastic chatter filled Felicity with warmth. He was clearly thrilled to hear from his daughter after so long as he couldn’t stop asking questions and narrating everything he had done with his friends in her absence.
Felicity never knew her dad could talk that much, or gossip. An hour later, he finally reached the end of his story.
“I’m telling you. Henry can be a big idiot sometimes. I keep telling him, but he never listens!” Connor concluded his funny story to Felicity, bringing a smile to her face.
She listened to her father’s tale, grateful that Noah had left Connor out of the turmoil between them. The old man deserved to live a peaceful life without worrying about her.
The genuine happiness in her dad’s voice, even after the ‘tragedies’ that had fallen upon their family in the last few months, eased some of the tension in Felicity’s shoulders.
He must be very lonely having lost Patricia, his companion for years. Only a few people his age remained for him to freely speak with.
“You old men are silly,” She couldn’t help but laugh. “I’m happy you had fun.”
“Ha!” Connor’s chuckle was followed by a question that made Felicity’s heart skip a beat. “So, where is Noah? Are you guys doing fine?”
Felicity paused for a second and the smile on her face faltered, unsure of how to respond.
She tried to maintain her cheerful tone, but a hint of unease crept into her voice. “Of course, it’s been splendid. We’re currently in one of his houses in the city. I promise to visit soon when I can.”
Connor’s gentle, yet persistent, voice came in a rush. “No, spend your time with your husband. Don’t come. I want to see my grandchildren running around soon.”
Almost choking on her saliva, Felicity was taken aback by his demand. “What!”
“Why do you sound so surprised? Do you think I’m getting any younger?” Connor retorted. “Henry already has three brats in his family who can’t stop clinging to him. I’m jealous.”
Felicity mustered a dad smile. She found herself repeating the same lines, playing the same game with her dad, knowing that deep down, she could never give him what he truly wanted.
“Dad, don’t be weird. Noah and I will have children when we’re ready,” she repeated, the words feeling bitter in her mouth. The longer this conversation went on, the heavier the guilt she felt.
How would he react when he finds out that she had lied to him all this while, manipulating him?
“Prepare yourself faster. Stop making this old man wait any longer.” Connor grumbled from the other side.
Felicity sighed. Just as she was about to reply to her father’s grumbling, a voice cut through the silence of the room, sending shivers down Felicity’s spine.
“We promise to give you one soon, father.” The words were spoken by a familiar voice, deep and warm, but they filled her with a sense of dread.
She spun around, the phone still pressed against her ear, to find Noah standing there, a grin playing on his lips. Her scowl was instantaneous, a visible sign of her displeasure.
“Don’t sneak up behind me like that.” She chastised him, surprised that she had not heard him come in.

After not meeting for days, Felicity noticed some subtle difference in his appearance. Standing in a red suit that highlighted his green eyes, Noah’s complexion was better than the last day they had an argument. The slight bags under his eyes had become lighter. The signs of stress from their last encounter were almost completely gone.
Felicity couldn’t help but notice the stark contrast in their appearances. Overall, he looked better. Healthier.
While she looked like a discarded piece of cloth drenched in dirty water repeatedly.
“Sorry.” Noah apologised, seating himself next to her. He reached for a leftover sandwich, his eyes alight with satisfaction as he bit into the food. “I’m glad you’re out of your room and eating.” He said, lowering his voice so Connor couldn’t hear over the phoneí
“Is that my son-in-law?!” Connor yell could be heard from Felicity’s phone. “I want to speak to him.”
Felicity’s jaw tightened. “Dad, I have to go. Talk to you later.” She ended the call before her dad could protest.
Turning to watch Noah, who looked nonchalant in a red suit, her mind struggled to grasp his true motive.
Confusion flashed through her face. What was the reason Noah brought her to the villa if he wasn’t planning to silence her?
“What?” Noah’s question cut through the silence, his eyebrows raised in question. Felicity’s gaze had started to make him uncomfortable.
“What exactly do you want from me?” Felicity blurted out.
Noah finished his bite of sandwich, his expression one of contemplation. He sucked air through his teeth as he gazed in the air in thought.
After pretending to think for a few seconds, he finally shook his head. “I don’t know,” His lips curved into a smirk and he leaned closer to her, “What do you think I want?”
Felicity grew nervous having his face so close to hers. She raised her chin
up, answering, “To scare me.”
“Is it working?” Noah tilted his head to the side with a playful smile, his eyes filled with amusement.
Finally catching up that he was teasing her, Felicity frowned. “Is this a joke to you?”
Chuckling lightly, Noah leaned back in his seat before shaking his head. He figured it was better to stop teasing her before he riled her up more than she already was.
“Nothing. You asked what I wanted. I want nothing from you.”
“Then why am I here?”
“It’s for your own good.” He answered, scratching the back of his head. “It’s not safe for you anywhere else.”
Tension hung in the air as their eyes locked, each searching for answers in the other’s gaze. The only thing Felicity could read from his eyes was sincerity. Did he really care about her safety that much?
Then, finally, the question she’d been dying to ask slipped out. “Why did you kill Wilfred?”
