The truth about Noah and Kagen’s relationship left Felicity speechless. It was a connection she hadn’t thought to put together.
The Elsworths, with their wealth, their influence, and their dark underbelly, had been the cause of her suffering. The nightmare she’d endured, and the guilt she’d carried like a lead weight on her shoulders, all stemmed from the secrets they’d kept.
What else had they hidden from her? Here she stood, thinking she was the one with a lot of secrets. Pathetic. She had been played in her own game.
Felicity was beyond mad, she was livid.
If she was honest, she wasn’t his ‘real’ wife or daughter-in-law to the family, just a convenient marriage of convenience. It was perhaps not surprising, then, that they’d kept this secret from her. She was, after all, expendable.
And now that she would be ultimately unalive by them, what did that matter?
She even reconsidered going with Noah, but how he beckoned to her stirred something in her heart. That damnable pull he had on her, echoed in her mind, and she faltered. It wasn’t fair.
In that split second, as Kagen’s bullet sang past her ear, missing her head by an inch, Felicity’s resolve hardened

So after recovering from the blast, she hastily ran to Kagen, ignoring Noah’s attempt to reach out to her. She wouldn’t leave unless the job was finished.
As Kagen was struggling to recover from the explosion, Felicity grabbed his collar and kneed him in the balls, earning a guttural groan from him.
Before Kagen could recover and overpower her, she brought out the shard of glass she had swiped earlier from the crash and lunged at Kagen’s face.
Kagen reacted quick but not quickly enough. The glass slashed his face, tearing the skin from his left eyebrow to the tip of his nose, leaving behind a jarring line of blood. He let out a howl of pain which Felicity found delightful.
But Felicity clicked her tongue, regretting she missed her aim. She had been aiming fo
his eyeball.
Felicity, eager for a more devastating blow, instinctively raised her hand to attack again when, suddenly, Kagen’s mask broke, revealing the other half of his face that he’d kept hidden all this while.
The shard must have grazed the string.
Her grip on the shard of glass weakened, the pieces of the puzzle refusing to click into place. How was this possible?

Time seemed to slow down as Felicity stared, transfixed, at Kagen’s face. Forgetting the chaos around her, her mind couldn’t comprehend what she was looking at. How could this be? Why was Kagen’s face so d*** familiar? It was a face she knew, yet didn’t.
Was this a joke?
Felicity felt a rush of emotion; surprise, confusion, pain, and then rage. “Who the f***k are you?” She spat, her voice laced with disgust.

Kagen’s pink lips curled into a sardonic smirk as he saw recognition flash in her eyes. “Don’t you already have your suspicions?” He shrugged, his eyes dancing with a sinister light. “Nobody. I’m nobody, Felicity. But my friends call me Kagen. And you just blew my cover.”
Felicity realised he was baiting her in the nick of time as he was ready to shoot. On instinct, she rammed her head into Kagen’s face, causing him to lose focus for a second.
Seizing the opportunity, she plunged the remaining shard of glass into his shoulder, causing Kagen to drop his gun.
Without wasting any more time, she turned and bolted towards Noah, who looked dazed.
“Move, idiot!” She yelled, brushing past him to her beautiful white Lamborghini. Oh, how she had missed her car.

She was mere inches from the driver’s seat, freedom at her fingertips, when Noah’s arm shot out, stopping her in her tracks.
“No, you aren’t.” Noah grabbed her. He saw through her plan. Take the car and escape from him once again. “Nice try.”
“Let me go, you bl****y murderer!” she screeched, her voice raw with anger, thrashing against his grip.
“I guess we make a beautiful pair.” Noah shot back with a dry, sardonic tone.
Felicity’s eyes narrowed. “I’ll bury a knife in you too if you don’t leave me alone.” She threatened.
Laughing, Noah answered, “Fine. I’d love to see you try.”
Felicity was about to retort when her body suddenly went limp and her whole world turned into darkness.

Noah carried Felicity bridal style and placed her gently into the backseat of the car, placing a soft kiss on her forehead before slamming the door shut.
He didn’t want to make her go unconscious. But he knew Felicity would never go with him willingly, and a fight was not a luxury they could afford right now.
Turning back at the carnage behind him, the fight was almost over with which they had the upper hand. But that didn’t mean they’d won. They would only win when Kagen was gone.
Until then, it was a tug of war.
The bomb took half of Kagen’s goons and the other half died from the onslaught of bullets that befell them from the other side. The few remaining whisked Kagen away before Axel could get to him and finish him off.
Noah’s mind couldn’t help but drift to the moment before Felicity attacked Kagen. He’d caught a glimpse of her face, the shock and revulsion written there as clear as day.
