Chapter 196
As the haze of confusion and panic dissipated, Felicity took in the details of the scene around her. Kagen’s once sleek car was crumpled and twisted at his side from the impact of the crash.
Unlike she thought, all the guns weren’t pointed at her. While Kagen’s men trained their guns on her, Ian’s were aimed at the opposition.
She was not the common target.
Amidst the smoke and soot, she was surrounded by about twenty other cars which took her by surprise.
During the drive, Felicity had not noticed Kagen’s men trailing behind them. Of course, the coward brought his minions along to hide in the shadows.
Felicity breathed a quiet sigh of relief. If she’d followed her instinct and jumped from Kagen’s car, she’d have been dragged back easily by his goons and no doubt have sustained a lot of injuries.
Felicity also glanced at the area they were in. It was dense with trees. Ian’s calculated actions, including his choice of location for ambush, meant she still had a chance of escape.
The situation was still dangerous, but the balance of power had shifted.
Ian, in a tuxedo, had gotten down from the monster truck he had used to slam into them, and was now holding the biggest gun Felicity had ever seen. She didn’t know much about guns but she was sure one shot from it would definitely blow her brains out. Luckily, Ian’s aim wasn’t set on her, but at Kagen behind her who had also whipped out his gun, though smaller.
Slowly, Felicity raised her hand in surrender, stepping to the side to avoid Ian’s line of fire.
Ian’s mouth curved into a smirk as his sight adjusted, now focused squarely on his nemesis. Kagen. Ian’s eyes narrowed, his grip on the weapon tightening. It was time to settle the score.
“Any last words?” Ian’s lips curled into a sneer.
Knowing that Ian wouldn’t retaliate since Felicity was involved, Kagen, unfazed, responded with a chilling threat, “Shoot me and my men will leave twenty holes in her body.”
In an instant, the silence was shattered by the unmistakable sound of guns being c***d. Kagen’s men now had a single, deadly purpose: making sure Kagen’s threat came to reality.
Felicity flinched at the sounds, knowing she could now die on Kagen’s command. The thought of twenty bullets embedding themselves in her flesh sent shivers down her spine.
She had always enjoyed being the centre of attention, but this was a spotlight she’d rather avoid. The whole point of her second chance was to live a long life and not die at the hands of some maniac like before. But alas, she might not be destined for a long life after all.
Felicity sighed, running her hand through her dirt-covered hair. What would her fans say if they saw her in this state? She could almost imagine herself as the b***emale lead in a high-stakes action film, her hair mussed and her clothes dishevelled from the chase.
Only that this was reality and she could die.
But Felicity wasn’t one to give up without a fight. She channelled her frustration into a silent rage. As Ian and Kagen faced off, she bent to the ground, her fingers deftly sn***hing an object from the floor.
If she was going down, someone would go down with her.

Chapter 196
Just as she did, the rumble of an engine stole Felicity’s attention. Her gaze lifted to see a beautiful, sleek white car driving into the scene: her Lamborghini.
Noah had arrived.
Felicity stilled as the doors opened, revealing Axel and Noah in their full glory. Noah, stepping from the car with Axel by his side, was a vision of casual elegance, as if the scene before him were just another day at the office.
They didn’t even bother to dress for the occasion, wearing just T-shirts and pants as if this was a mall and not a freaking gunfight.
The contrast couldn’t be more stark.
Axel, his eyes assessing the carnage, turned his attention to Felicity. “What happened to you? You’re a bl**dy mess,” he remarked.
“Some idiot crashed into the car I was in,” Felicity shrugged, her response nonchalant as if she hadn’t been seconds away from becoming a human colander. She gave Ian, the perpetrator, a pointed look.
Ian, unrepentant, flashed a grin that would have been charming under different circumstances. “Next time, wear a seatbelt.”
Felicity rolled her eyes before standing back up. Now that all the parties had arrived, it was time for Felicity to make a decision. Which devil was she going with?
Her gaze flicked to Kagen. She saw him glaring at Noah, his hatred palpable. Behind him were his minions pointing several guns at her small frame, ready to carry out their leader’s commands without hesitation. She knew, deep in her bones, that Kagen would not hesitate to end her life to spite his enemy.
Kagen meant certain death.
Turning away from Kagen, her gaze locked with Noah’s for the first time in two weeks.
He had been gazing at her all along.
Noah, the man who had haunted her dreams for weeks, seemed to see into her soul, his gaze a piercing sword that sliced through her defences. She felt exposed and vulnerable under his eyes.
But there was something in his eyes, a glimmer of something she couldn’t quite place, that made her hesitate. His eyes gazed at her more softly than she had expected.
Where was the hatred she’d expected? The venomous anger that should have been spewed her way? Instead, she saw concern and…longing.
Was that how you were supposed to look at someone you were about to kill?
The worry in his eyes sent her reeling backward. She must have made a mistake. She was a flight risk to his family, there was no way he had good intentions for her.
But her gaze wandered to the men behind Noah. Their guns were aimed in every direction but at her.
The choice was obvious.
She smirked.
Certain death might not be so certain after all… yet.
