Chapter 193
Two weeks.
Felicity hadn’t heard from her dad, and the only way she knew the company was doing well was through the news.
Nobody had noticed her disappearance yet which was good.
It had been two weeks since Felicity was on the run. Her efforts were proving to be futile since Kagen had refused to give her a night of solitude.
He was like a second shadow.
He hadn’t faced her directly but she kept spotting blo**dy figurines in front of her doors every night, so she knew he was around.
Disguised in a mask and hoodie, Felicity stepped off the bus and into the bustling cityscape, taking refuge in a nearby convenience store to buy lunch. She scanned the aisles for both food and threats. Her eyes were peeled, wary of anyone that looked remotely suspicious.
For days she had been looking for ways to lose the people after her, but she was unsuccessful. At this point, she wouldn’t be surprised if Kagen had access to every camera in the city and was secretly watching her.
“Mi…”
“Mis…”
“Miss?”
Snapping back to the present, Felicity jolted when someone grabbed her shoulder. Shocked, she backed away, bumping into some items on the aisle but luckily nothing fell and broke.
She froze, meeting the brown-haired young man. His mouth, poised to speak, halted mid-syllable, and his brow furrowed in
concern.
“A-Are you alright?” His hesitant voice came. “I didn’t mean to scare you.” The man’s frown deepened when he saw how weary Felicity looked. “You look like you haven’t slept in days.” He blurted bluntly.
Felicity’s gaze wandered to his grey pants and white button-up shirt before arching a brow. The stranger’s honesty took her slightly aback. Though her state of exhaustion wasn’t new to her, she’d prefer if someone didn’t tell her to her face that she looked horrible.
Leaning as far away as possible from the stranger, Felicity was cautious. No kind face was going to fool her. In her mind, every innocent face could be a mask for the devil himself, and this seemingly kind man was no exception.
“I’m fine,” Felicity snapped, her voice cold. “What do you want?”
The man’s expression shifted from concern to surprise. But undeterred, he decided to ignore her outburst. “Oh… Okay. I didn’t mean to disturb you. I just wanted to know where the Instant noodles were.” He said, his tone earnest and unassuming.
Felicity crossed her arms, glaring at the guy. “I don’t work here,” She spat, her voice laced with frustration. To be mistaken as a store clerk was like a stab to her dignity.
She had promised to pamper herself no matter what in this lifetime. How did she end up so low once again? Maybe she needed to at least resume her skincare routine.
Sighing, she told the man. “But I did pass the section two aisles back.”

The man’s eyes brightened and he threw her a quick thank you before scurrying off to grab his noodles.

Felicityed at the bizarre man until he disappeared down the aisle before chuckling, the first sound of humour she’d allowed to escape her lips in days. A grown-up man practically fleeing to grab a pack of instant noodles was the last thing she expected to see today.
Shaking her head, she turned to pick some chips from the counter. Unbeknownst to her, the poor man never got to his noodles. He was snatched by some shady men just before he could grab them, and later ended up with five broken fingers.
The same fingers he used to grab Felicity.
Felicity got everything she needed and made her way to the new motel she was staying at. The bus rumbled on, carrying Felicity further away from the busy streets. She found peace staring at the green scenery that surrounded her, vibrant countryside, a respite from the concrete jungle she’d grown to call home.
It wasn’t something that came by often in the city.
In this side of town, most locals were into farming and gardening. Coffee shops and barbecue joints, with their tantalising aromas, dotted the horizon. They had great barbecues by the way.
She liked the place.
She didn’t feel out of place at all. In fact, the serene beauty of the countryside was a gentle reminder of the simple life she’d left behind. It was the sort of lifestyle she lived in her past life with Caster. It would have been nostalgic if her tragic death hadn’t left a sour taste in her mouth.
“Way to ruin the mood, Felicity,” she murmured, the words tinged with self-deprecating humour and a hint of sadness.
Closing her eyes, Felicity let the fresh air lull her into forgetting about her worries.
But alas, her brief moment of solitude didn’t last long. Immediately she stepped down from the bus, the serenity was shattered by a chilling presence.
Leaning against his vintage Benz parked in front of her freaking motel, Felicity could sense Kagen’s smile through his black mask that covered the lower half of his face.
His blond hair glinted in the sun, and his blue eyes gazed at her like a husband who had just reunited with his wife after ten
years.
People passing kept casting glances at him, especially from the females. The psycho was drawing everyone’s attention even though half of his face was covered.
Felicity felt like stripping the skin from his body so that the swooning ladies could see all the dirt buried within him.
If the bus hadn’t already driven off, Felicity would have boarded another ride. This time, out of the bloody city.
Sensing her wariness, Kagen taunted, “Why do you look scared? I won’t hurt you.” His soft deceptive voice travelled, mesmerising everyone around them. He flicked a strand of blond hair off his face before waving her over.
Felicity heard squeals from some girls nearby.
Standing on her spot for a few seconds, Felicity’s pulse thrummed against her skin. Eventually, she took in a deep breath before discreetly feeling her back pocket for her knife.
She’d suffered through Kagen’s incessant pursuit for far too long It was time to end it.
“F***k it,” She breathed, defiance infusing her veins with a hot determination. “He just served himself on a silver platter.”
