Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 192

Chapter 192
“How long has it been?”
“A week and three days.”
“Feels like an eternity.”
“Yeah. And you look like you were murdered and then brought back to life only to be murdered again.”
Ian’s barbed quip only sharpened Noah’s gaze.
Noah didn’t need to be reminded of how terrible he looked. That’s what endless coffee and two hours of sleep in an uncomfortable office did to someone.
After Felicity left, he hadn’t gone back to the Estate. He could not stand the emptiness. Everything reminded him of her; the couch, her paintings, the bed… everything. The home that had once been a sanctuary now felt more like a tomb, the memories of her a haunting presence that lurked around every corner.
Yeah, he was barely holding it together, his hair a dishevelled mess, his eyes bloodshot. There was also a madness lurking underneath the mess that was threatening to burst out.
Rubbing his tired eyes, Noah’s gaze remained fixed on the office desk. The desk, a stalwart witness to a week’s worth of tension and turmoil, stood miraculously unscathed by the concentrated fury of Noah’s glare.
Noah’s fury extended beyond his office to every employee in the Elsworth group. Everyone was walking on eggshells, avoiding him like a ticking bomb. Word had spread of Noah’s anger after he demoted three people for clicking their pens loudly. The whole place had been dead silent as no one wanted to provoke their scary boss further and receive his wrath.
Ian, however, was the only one who still had the balls to taunt him. Undeterred by his friend’s wrath, his jabs were the only reason Noah’s madness was still contained.
“How is she?” Noah finally asked the question that had bugged him for a long time, his voice weary and grave.
Ian exhaled. The dark shadows under his eyes were alarming, a reminder that the past week hadn’t been them. Even his usually perfect hair was all over the place.

“She’s changed motels five times in the past week, mostly due to Kagen’s persistent stalking,” Ian reported, the weight of his words heavy in the air. He cast a sidelong glance at Noah, his concern evident. “It’s not safe for my sister-in-law out there. What if Kagen gets bored of his games and strikes?”
“We are watching. As you said before, she needs time to process what happened.”
Ian shrugged, letting out a skeptical snort. “Forget what we said. That’s a load of shit and you know it.” His gaze was a hammer, blunt and to the point. “You should get her. She needs you.”
“She hates me,” Noah replied solemnly, the truth a bitter pill to swallow. The thought of facing her again, of seeing the disgust in her eyes, the contempt and anger directed at him, was scary. It plagued his dreams.
And now, the bitter realisation that Kagen had orchestrated Wilfred’s capture and death to put a rift between him and Felicity, left Noah feeling like a helpless pawn in a sick game.
Noah had to give it to him. Kagen was a b***dy genius, a demon. The devil had sacrificed the life of one of his top agents just to bring him down.
Noah, Axel, and Ian had swept through the city like a tornado, bringing down all of Kagen’s hideouts they could find with glee. They didn’t spare anybody.

Now more than ever, Noah was determined to bring K down. Especially since Kagen and his goons have been hovering around Felicity since she left him.

The only reason Noah hadn’t attacked yet was because he was waiting to lure Kagen out. Of course, their movements weren’t monitored anymore since they’d removed the moles, Kagen’s spies who’d burrowed their way into the ranks of the Elsworth family.
Axel found ten of Kagen’s spies in their midst. He had been brutal, his efficiency nothing short of terrifying, each traitor’s death a note in a symphony of vengeance
It was a wonder how they infiltrated them to that extent but Noal was satisfied watching them bleed to death. They were the reason Felicity left him. D***n them all!.
“There is still something I can’t quite wrap my head about,” Ian started pensively, making Noah lazily lift his eyes from his desk to gaze at his best friend. “Why is Felicity so attached to Wilfred anyway? She barely even knows him. Didn’t they meet like twice?”
The question hung in the air. Ian’s probing words stirred within Noah, a nagging question that had bothered him for days.
Recalling the agony etched on Felicity’s face that day as she gazed at Wilfred’s body, Noah’s frown deepened. It was strange. It spoke of a connection that went far beyond that of a simple meeting.
How? Why?
Noah’s fingers clenched around his temples, massaging away the exhaustion that was threatening to overpower his senses.
“She always had so many secrets,” Noah confessed under his breath before giving a small wry smile. “What a mystery. I’ll ask
her when we meet.”
“You better get to her before Kagen does,” Ian advised. He had a look that said he would have dragged Felicity back himself if it was up to him.
Noah rose from his desk, his movements unhurried yet purposeful. He walked to the window, the floor-to-ceiling glass giving an enchanting view of the cityscape.
His office was situated at one of the highest points in the city so he could practically see everything. Noah surveyed the city, his gaze sharp and unrelenting, vacant yet filled with a fierce resolve.
“Let him touch her if he dares.” Noah declared, his eyes ablaze with determination.
Now that they had managed to curb some of Kagen’s influence in the city, the game had shifted in their favour.”
Next was to bring Felicity back. One week was enough for her to process her thoughts.
Suddenly, a smile crept up his beautiful face.
“I guess I have nothing to hide now. I am coming, my love.”
