Chapter 190
Felicity burst out of the warehouse, sprinting past the surprised guards who shouted after her in alarm. She didn’t care about being discreet anymore, the urgency to escape from the vicinity surpassed everything else.
With wild, panicked strides, she ran to her car, her chest heaving as she slid into the driver’s seat and slammed the door shut. The engine roared to life, and she sped off the desolate neighborhood, leaving Noah’s secrets and betrayal behind.
“Why?” She screamed in her mind, each question slamming into her well-constructed walls, trying to break them down. “Why, why, WHY?!”
Felicity’s hands clenched the steering wheel, her knuckles white as she fought to keep her breathing under control. Her heart was hammering in her chest like a bomb ready to explode.
She had expected Noah’s secret to be many things: infidelity, a dark family history, even an addiction. But murder? Murder! The word tasted like bile in her mouth.
past life.
Not only had she witnessed Noah, the man she was starting to like and trust, commit cold-blooded murder, but the victim was Wilfred, the one person who had shown her kindness in her past life. The one person who had given her a chance, a hand up from the gutter, had now been brutally snuffed out of existence by the man she had chosen to spend her life with.
The revelation hit Felicity like a blow. It was the cruellest twist of fate, not after she had been murdered too in her

How could Noah, her Noah, pull the trigger on an innocent man? It was simply unforgivable.

Wilfred was different. He was a good man.
Hot tears trailed down her face. Why hadn’t she suspected? The secret talks Noah had with Ian, his subtle disappearance every night when he thought she was asleep. How could she have been so blind?
How could he sleep at night after taking innocent lives?
Hell, how did she always end up falling in love with jerks?
Felicity froze as realisation hit her like a punch in the gut. Love? Was that what she felt for Noah?
Her eyes widened in disbelief.
Felicity’s heart twisted in her chest, a painful acknowledgment of the emotions that had, until that moment, remained hidden even from herself. She’d tried to deny it, to separate her feelings and focus on the logic of the arrangement.
But now, it was undeniable. And the pain, the hurt, the betrayal, it all became a hundred times worse.
After what Felicity had just witnessed, there was no way their relationship could work anymore. She didn’t mean anything to Noah as their marriage was only a sham. He would surely hunt her down to keep his secret, or worse, kill her too.
If Noah didn’t, the whole Elsworth family would hunt her down. Now the truth was out, she was a threat to them, a vulnerability that they would surely exploit. A stain that they wouldn’t bear, not when they already have enough enemies surrounding them.
Felicity didn’t doubt Rebecca would hesitate to gut her open to protect her family’s interest. She had just become a prey. A weak and helpless one.
The thought sent chills down her spine. As much as she couldn’t imagine Noah ever hurting her, it was better safe than

Putting as much distance as she could between them was the best. If she didn’t distance herself from Noah, she was putting herself in danger.
Felicity’s mind spun, coming up with possibilities, each one darker and more terrifying than the last.
Making up her mind, she stepped on the gas pedal, hoping to get to the estate first before Noah found her.
A vibration from her phone disrupted her concentration for a second. Her fingers twitched, itching to reach for the phone, yet dreading what she might find.
What if it was Noah? The thought of hearing his voice right now was enough to make her skin crawl. She couldn’t deal with the lies and explanations.
Regardless, she picked up the phone but immediately regretted it as she was faced with Kagen’s taunting words.
“Hope you found what you were looking for sweetheart.” – He typed with a smiling face at the end.
Felicity’s eyes narrowed to slits, her free hand shaking with rage as she angrily typed out her response.
“I’m going to kill you, I swear.”
“Killing the innocent like your husband, I see.” Kagen’s message read, like a cruel dagger twisted in her chest. Felicity slammed the phone down on the seat beside her with a growl of frustration. The smug, sociopathic monster would be the death of her. She had no doubt now that Kagen was monitoring her, maybe even following her.
Kagen had known that Wilfred would be murdered by Noah, and he had ensured Felicity was there to witness it. The how and why of it was still a mystery, but one thing was certain: Kagen was an enemy of the deadliest kind. A man with no moral compass, and no qualms about manipulating innocent lives for his own gain.
Kagen’s web of corruption and deceit was thicker and more tangled than Felicity had ever imagined.
But the real question was why her? Why did he choose to drag her into this mess? He was an enemy she had least expected, one she had failed to see. Felicity had underestimated him, a mistake she certainly would not repeat for a second time.
But one thing was certain at the moment. She needed to hide from the predators suddenly looming over her, each one more scary than the other.
Her mind raced, her fingers drumming on the steering wheel. She had to get away, had to disappear.
