Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 189

Chapter 189
The silence that followed was deafening as everyone’s face switched from shock to horror.
Noah, lan, and Axel whipped their heads simultaneously to the source of the scream and found Felicity crumpled on the floor, her red-rimmed eyes fixated on Wilfred’s now lifeless form
Noah’s grip on his gun slipped, the weapon falling to the-floor with a dull thud that reverberated through the silence.
Noah could see, the look on Felicity’s face said everything that needed to be said – rage, disgust, betrayal, and finally fear. He watched as they flashed through her glassy eyes while her lips parted in disgust and disbelief as she slowly met his eyes.
AAs she turned away to retch, the bile rising in her throat mirroring the revulsion she felt, Noah knew he had f***d up.
“Felicity…” Noah’s voice was a whisper, a broken plea as he took a hesitant step towards her. He held up his hand in surrender as he spoke, “It’s not what it looks like.”
After almost hurling her guts, Felicity’s gaze drifted from him to carnage, her flitting across the dry and fresh splatters of blood staining the walls, the bodies strewn across the room.
She knew the brutal evidence was proof that without a doubt, this was not the first time Noah had put a bullet through someone’s skull. It wasn’t the first time Axel and Ian had stood and watched him do it without flinching. Perhaps they’d also fired some shots before.
The thought of it made her sick as she dug her nails into the soft skin of her palm, the pain keeping her from fainting at the sight.
The smell of blood suddenly assaulted her nostrils, making her nauseous again, but she willed herself to keep her meal down.
Her body trembling as she pushed herself to her feet, backing away from the gory scene.
“P-Please,” Noah pleaded, watching her move away from him like a prey fleeing from a predator. His heart ached.
“D-Don’t,” she whispered, her words a ragged gasp, her voice breaking as she struggled to breathe. “Please, don’t come closer.”
Her words tore through Noah like an axe, keeping him rooted in his spot. The tension in the room was at its peak as the few men who were present watched in apprehension.
“Sister-in-law, listen,” Ian interjected, his voice a cold, smooth blade that cut through the air. He pointed at Wilfred’s body, “Wilfred was-”
“I don’t want to f****g hear it!” Felicity snapped at him, not giving him time to explain. She glared at them, her eyes wild, her jaw clenched as she spat out the words, “K was right. I don’t know the people I live with.”
And with that, she turned on her heels and ran from the place, not turning back when Noah called after her. It only made her run faster.
Noah stood frozen for a moment, his world turned upside down as he watched her bolt off. Taking a step to run after her, to call her name, to try to make her understand, Axel gripped his shoulders fo stop him. “Don’t go. It would only make things worse. She needs time to process.” he advised.

Noah shook Axel’s hand off his shoulder, desperation fueling his movements as he began to stride towards the door. “Did you see the
she looked at me? I need to make her understand before she comes up with an explanation by herself.” He said determined to explain himself but lan’s voice cut him off, its matter-of-fact tone grating against Noah’s frayed
nerves.

“She isn’t going to listen to anything you say right now, Noah. You’ll only sp**k her more by running after her, especially in this state,” Ian said, pointing out their bloodstained clothes and tice. “Instead, we should worry about how she found this hideout and when K started contacting her.”
“Is that what you’re seriously worried about, lan?” Noah snapped at him. “My wife just stared at me like I was a monster!”
Ian’s silence spoke volumes, a sigh of resignation
nd frustration, The three of them had all seen the fear and revulsion on Felicity’s face, an image that would haunt them all in different ways.
But they couldn’t let emotion dictate their next move.
After all, they had warned Noah to tell Felicity the truth countless times already. All this misunderstanding would have been averted if he had just gone completely clean.
The real problem was the convenience of the situation. Something was very fishy.
Axel’s voice broke through the silence. “First and foremost, if K led her here, then this hideout is no longer safe. We have to pack up and leave. There is probably a mole in the building.”
“A mole? You swore that all you men were loyal.” Ian questioned Axel.
Axel sighed, biting his lips nervously. He had a look of regret on his face, though he tried to hide it. “I guess I was wrong. Someone had to reveal our location.”
“Ugh, this is so messed up.” Ian groaned tiredly under his breath as he massaged his forehead with a frown. Just when they thought their investigation was starting to progress, K was still a step ahead of them.
Felicity finding out the truth like this would no doubt cause a huge problem. Not only had Noah’s wife-his only vulnerability-slipped from his grasp, but if she decided to divorce him too soon, she’d become a liability.
The Elsworths had a reputation. They didn’t have loose ends.
Ian gazed up at Noah, who was still staring at the spot Felicity had previously stood with a crestfallen face. It was taking him everything not to hunt her down. Every fibre in his being screamed for him to follow, to explain, to fix this.
“Do your very best. If she leaves, we are finished…” Ian muttered.
Noah locked eyes with Ian and he clenched his fist tightly as his eyes turned icy. “She won’t leave. I won’t let her.”
