The next day, Noah was the first to leave the house. He and Felicity kept their discussion to a minimum and barely said good morning to each other. Though they kept sneaking secret glances.
Having cleared her schedule for that day, Felicity took her time dressing up that morning. She was dressed for a stake out in all black; black jeans, tec, canvas, and a hat to cover her face.
Knowing she might not have time for food later, Felicity made a hearty breakfast, fueling herself for whatever the day would bring.
She picked a less attractive car in the garage, a strategic choice to keep herself out of the spotlight. Heading to the location Kagen sent to her last night, she was apprehensive.
Yet, her decision was made. She was determined to face this, no matter the cost. She had to know the truth-even if it burned.
Felicity’s feelings for Kagen were crystal clear: hatred, revulsion, and distrust. Yet, he was the only one who seemed willing to shed light on the mysteries that plagued her mind. For now, she would listen-but only because it served her purpose.
Felicity drove for hours before she finally arrived at the pinned area. She wasn’t afraid that Noah’s bodyguards might find her because he had let it slip that they were all unresponsive last night, no doubt Kagen’s doing.
As she drove into the quiet area, the fewer houses she saw and more forest. Why would Noah’s secret be in the middle of nowhere?
Stopping the car, she came to a point where she was only surrounded by trees, and she was starting to believe Kagen had led her to her death.
But her mind changed when she heard a gunshot a few distance from where she was parked. She flinched in her seat as she scanned her surroundings. What exactly was in these woods? Hunters?
Curiosity got the best of her. She cautiously alighted her car and trekked the rest of the distance, following the direction the gunshot sounded from.
After walking a few distance, the trees disappeared, revealing a massive warehouse surrounded by patrolling guards. The whole place looked menacing and suspicious. The scene reeked of danger.
“What the hell?” She muttered under her breath, her eyes taking in the sight of the warehouse, scanning the guards as they moved around the perimeter. She had never seen anything like it. What could Noah possibly be hiding there?
For hours she stood there, covered by the trees, studying how the men patrolled around the place so she could sneak in. And when she finally grasped it, she was ready to sneak inside.
As she was about to make her move, another sound broke the silence the low, powerful purr of an engine. It was Noah’s car, unmistakably.
What was he doing there? Her interest was more piqued now. Whatever was going on here, she was about to find out.
As Noah’s car rolled through the gates, the guards’ attention was momentarily diverted. Felicity seized her opportunity and sneaked into the building. Her heartbeat increased as she successfully entered the abandoned warehouse.
The first thing that greeted her was the stale air and dust-coated surfaces that tingled her nose in a weird way. The walls were infested with insects, crawling and buzzing, while gaping holes gaped in the roof, revealing patches of sky.
Felicity inhaled deeply, steeling herself for what lay ahead before venturing deeper into the building, the same way Noah went. There weren’t as many guards inside as there were outside. They were probably too confident that no one could find or sneak into the place.

Chapter 188
Kagen was right. It really was too easy to infiltrate Noah’s defences.
The sound of gunfire shattered the quiet, striking fear into Felicity’s heart as she froze in her tracks and terror flashed through her eyes. What could possibly be happening here? Had Noah been hurt?
Her mind raced, instincts screaming at her to get to him. She broke into a sprint, her footsteps echoing down the empty halls. And then, she stumbled upon a sight that defied belief: a series of rooms, doors hanging ajar, each of them splattered with blood, their occupants brutally beaten.
Her eyebrows pinched together and bile rose to her throat when she noticed some of those people weren’t moving, beaten to death. The sight before Felicity was a waking nightmare.
Just as she was about to advance further, a familiar voice pierced the eerie silence. Wilfred’s voice. The unexpected sound jolted her, stealing her breath. What was Wilfred doing here? What did this have to do with Noah?
She slowly approached the room and the sight she saw would forever be etched in her brain.
“You’ve killed everyone else. I won’t tell you anything, so just kill me too.” Wilfred was unrecognisable, face stained with his blood. His voice, while hoarse with pain, held a stubborn defiance. He had a lazy smile on his face, the same one Felicity was used to.
“Gladly.” Noah’s cold voice came. “And rest assured, your boss is joining you soon.”
Time seemed to stretch in that moment, every heartbeat a drumbeat of fate
Noah was going to kill Wilfred. Right before her eyes.
And she had no idea why.
No one had noticed her presence. Not Ian who gazed in indifference. Not Axel who had an odd excited look on his face. Not Noah whose gaze was blank.
Wilfred was the only one who noticed her presence, a flicker of recognition flashing across his face as their eyes met. The moment was ephemeral, but in that fraction of time, he offered her a smile-soft and resigned.
And then, the gunshot.
Everything seemed to move in slow motion as the sound of body flopping on the floor sounded in the room. It was followed by a scream of absolute terror
