Chapter 187
Felicity quietly arrived at the mansion, her mind still distant, not fully recovered from her encounter with Kagen.
The thought of Noah betraying her was something she didn’t want to comprehend. She refused.
Getting to the living room, she found Noah standing by the door, waiting for her.
When they locked eyes, she saw relief flash through his eyes before it was replaced by worry and then anger.
“Where have you been? I was almost about to go out searching for you. And weren’t you picking up your phone?” He asked.
Felicity sighed, avoiding eye contact with Noal. Without a word, she walked past him.
Felicity couldn’t face going home after meeting with Kagen. She spent the rest of the day at her office, trying to keep herself busy. She also cleared her schedule for the next day so she could have time to investigate.
She deliberately ignored all of Noah’s calls because she didn’t feel like talking to him. She only decided to come home when there was no more work to do.
“Didn’t one of the men you sent to tail me, report to you?” Felicity spat at him.
“That’s part of the reason I was worried. They weren’t responding too,” Noah said before grabbing her arm, turning her to face him. “What’s wrong with you? I was told you were tailing someone on the street, alone. Do you know how dangerous that is?”
Felicity slapped his hands away to Noah’s dismay. His jaw tensed, his eyes locked on hers with an implacable anger.
There was something different about Felicity tonight, he had noticed. She was hostile to him, for some reason he couldn’t understand. He was only looking out for her, trying to keep her safe. Why was she so angry?
Could it be because of their conversation last night? He hadn’t apologised yet for his drunken behaviour. Maybe an apology would satiate her anger.
“I-” Before he could form a sentence, Felicity interrupted him.
“What’s the connection between you and Kagen?” Felicity blurted, desperate for the truth from him.
Noah recoiled, shocked by her unexpected question. “What do you mean?” He asked, worry flashing through his eyes. “Did he approach you? Was he the one you were tailing? Felicity, are you insane? He is dangerous.”
The way he said Kagen’s name-it felt weighted, heavy with something unspoken.
Noah looked away from her face, his gaze burning into something behind her. He feared what K had told her when he approached her.
“What about you? Are you dangerous?” Felicity asked, eyes wide. “You keep hiding things from me. Tell me the truth.” Noah scoffed, his eyes darkening. There was his answer. Kagen definitely told her something. “Anything I hide is none of your business. You keep things from me too and I don’t pry. What gives you the right too?”
His voice was like ice, a dangerous chill seeping into the air around them. Noah regretted his words as soon as they slipped from his mouth but it was too late to retract them.
He watched as Felicity’s face fell, but he couldn’t do anything about it. He had planned to tell her everything as soon as she got back but her outburst after meeting K proved that she wouldn’t be able to handle it.
With a shaky inhale, Felicity blinked back tears, swallowing her retort.

“We are married,” Felicity said slowly.
“You’ve brushed off my feelings time and again, denied the bond that we share,” Noah fired back, his voice burning with accusation. “I don’t owe you anything, Felicity.”
“You’re right, I was out of line. I’m sorry.” Felicity’s laugh was bitter. Coldness slid over her eyes. “But if I find out you’re the reason I’ve been hunted,” she continued, her words sharpened to a fine point, “I won’t forgive you. We’ve both crossed lines in the past months, but it’s time to set the record straight.”
Noah bit down on his tongue, trying his best not to pin her down and kiss her mercilessly for the words that just came out of her mouth.
It had to be her anger talking. She couldn’t mean it, he tried to reason with himself. He knew he overreacted, but this wasn’t what he wanted.
Could he have been wrong about her feelings? Did she really feel nothing for him all this while?
But if that were the case, then she had no right to the truth about his family. She didn’t deserve it.
Felicity, on the other hand, was still seething. A few days ago, she had started to see herself living with Noah, imagining a better life than she had with Caster. Now she didn’t think that was possible.
She had let her fantasies and hope blind her from the truth, her desire to live life to its fullest. She wasn’t going to be blinded anymore. It was time to wake up.
“Is this really what you want?” Noah arched a brow, a silent challenge.
Felicity’s expression remained stoic, not letting her hesitation slip from her face as she responded, “Yes.” she answered with finality.
Noah responded with a curt nod, his body tensing with frustration. “Fine. You take the bed. I’ll sleep on the couch.” He said, brushing past her. And with that, he disappeared through the door, leaving Felicity alone in the dimly lit living room.
Felicity’s eyes trailed behind him as he disappeared in the doorway. She didn’t hear him start the car so she was sure he didn’t leave the estate-probably took a walk.
Trying her best not to let the tear slip, she made her way upstairs before letting the dam break.
