The man standing before Felicity looked nothing like the chubby man in the morning. But she was sure that they were the same person because his stare was exactly the same.
“How?” Felicity stuttered in disbelief.
Kagen looked down at himself, amused. “Oh, this little magic. Just a little tweaking here and there did the trick. I can teach you if you want. Then you and I can be invisible together.”
If Kagen could switch his appearance flawlessly at will, didn’t that mean she was in trouble? How was she supposed to recognise and stay away from him?

“No, thanks,” Felicity said, her face contorting in disgust.
“If you insist,” Kagen shrugged before staring her down, his eyes skimming through her body, making her repulsed. “You are even more beautiful up close. I’m really excited to meet you.”
“I can’t say the same for you. I would have been perfectly fine without meeting you,” she spat, her words dripping with venom. “What did you do to my shadow guard? Did you kill him?” she demanded, her words quivering with fury as she assessed the clothes he was putting on.
Kagen’s response was a dismissive shake of his head. “No, but he is going to be unconscious for a long time, maybe a few weeks.”
“What do you want from me?” Felicity asked, clenching her fists by her side. That was the question that had been burning in her mind since the first day he approached her.
“You have nothing to offer me. I just want you,” Kagen shrugged lazily. He closed the distance between them, leaning in to meet her gaze with a brazen gaze of his own. “You could have done much better than Noah.”

b**d.” Felicity raised her hand to stab him in the eye with her pen.
“Is ***d the only insult you know? You’re an artist, be more creative.” Kagen dodged her attack and twisted her wrist until she dropped the pen. “I’m very much a legitimate child, just so you know,” He smirked, “Now get into the car. We have somewhere to go.” He said, brushing her aside roughly.
Seeing that her only source of defence was gone, Felicity turned and attempted to run to the elevator but she froze in place as the unmistakable sound of a gun c****g pierced the air, Kagen’s voice ringing out in a low, dangerous threat.
“You should behave while I’m asking nicely.” He aimed the gun at her forehead, his fingers poised on the trigger.
Felicity stood unperturbed. She would rather die than go anywhere with this ***o. “Come on. Shoot me.” “Don’t tempt me,” Kagen warned, his finger caressing the trigger,
“I dare you.” Felicity spat at him. “I’m not going anywhere with you.”
Kagen pulled the trigger.
Felicity flinched, bracing for the impact of the bullet, only to find Kagen still standing before her, a victorious smile on his face.
“Relax, it’s not loaded. I’ll never hurt you.” Kagen informed her with a smile which she returned with a scowl.

“You are not going anywhere with me?” Kagen asked with a snicker. “Then why did you come down here then? Wasn’t it to find answers? Drop the act, Felicity. You’re starting to look pathetic.” He remarked. “If you really despised me so much, you should have stayed in your office.”
Felicity stood her ground though she knew he was right. She did come down here for answers.
“I came here to tell you to leave Noah and me alone. I don’t care what truth you think you know, and I don’t want to hear it. Stop stalking me, and stop dragging Noah into this.”
Kagen’s derisive laughter filled the air. “Stalking you? That’s what he told you?”
Felicity’s lips pressed into a thin line, her features etched with fury. “Breaking into my home to scare me. Shooting Axel because he tried to help me. Spamming me with useless messages. If that isn’t stalking then I don’t know what is.”
Kagen tilted his head back as he laughed. He shook his head and his eyes flashed with amusement. “Is that what he made you believe? That I was after you from the start? It’s a pity. You’re even more oblivious than I thought.”
“What do
you mean?”
Kagen shrugged, putting his gun down. “I was going to tell you everything, but I’ve changed my mind. It’s more fun for you to uncover things yourself. Oh, this is going to be exciting.”
Felicity stood stunned by the outcome of things. She couldn’t comprehend a word Kagen was saying. Was he implying that she was never his target from the start? Then how was she dragged into the centre of the drama?
“Get one thing through that stubborn head of yours,” He moved closer, his voice low and menacing. “I’m nothing but a well- wisher. I only want what’s best for you. And your husband? He is a chronic liar. I know that because we’ve been playing this game for more than a decade. He dragged you into this, not the other way around.”
“You have a choice, and you’re currently on the wrong side. I’m the only one who truly cares about you,” Kagen said as he backed away, slowly leaving the garage. “Till we meet again, my love.”
Felicity watched as he disappeared into the darkness, her mind reeling from the information he gave.
A decade?
More than a decade!
How could Noah have known K for that long and not tell her about it? She had felt guilty for turning Noah’s quiet life into a mess, but now… now everything was a lie.
Kagen had to be messing with her. Noah couldn’t have deceived her like that.
