Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 185

Chapter 185
Sitting by the window, Felicity watched as the city gradually bustled with life, munching on a croissant with a steaming cup of coffee by her side.
She tried to forget about everything in her mind and enjoy like this.
Machine Brief moment of bliss. It wasn’t every day she got moments
But once again it was interrupted by a ping on her phone. A dark look suddenly flashed through her face as she already knew whose text it was.
She fought to ignore it, but when the phone vibrated again, she gave in.
“I’m guessing you’ve figured out who I am by now. Good morning, Felicity.” – Kagen texted.
The second message was another pinned location. Felicity clicked it, expecting to see another desolate area but to her surprise, this location was situated in the heart of the city.
This caught her attention, and as she saw the exact address, she froze in her seat and her eyes whipped up, frantically checking her surroundings.
This location was her location, the cafe. Felicity’s eyes darted around for anyone suspicious. It didn’t help that she did not know how Kagen looked, every face was a potential threat.
Her eyes searched the room, her heart racing as she scanned for anything out of place. And when she saw him-the chubby man whose gaze was fixed on her, unwavering and unnerving-she froze.
Felicity was putting on a face mask with glasses so no one would recognize her but there was something familiar about the way he stared at her and it made her hair rise.
The unfamiliar man stood up, paid for his coffee, and started leaving.
Felicity decided to test her theory and text Kagen’s number, her eyes trained on the man leaving.
The phone the man clenched in his hand lit up and he threw a knowing smirk at Felicity, muttering the words, “You caught me.” Before disappearing in the throng of people in the street.
Felicity didn’t let fear keep her rooted in her spot and ran after him as her life depended on it. The thought of catching and getting her answers only fuelled her.
Leaving the warmth of the cafe, Felicity brushed through the h****d of people in a desperate attempt to catch up with Kagen. She weaved through the crowd, her eyes trained on the fleeting figure of Kagen, his form slipping further from her grasp.
Felicity increased her pace, ignoring the angry yells thrown at her as she bumped into people. Her only goal was getting to Kagen and that’s what she planned to do.
Just then, Kagen branched into a secluded alleyway and Felicity followed behind him, but when she got there, he had disappeared. She spun around trying to get a glimpse of him but it was like he disappeared in thin air.
She was about to continue searching further when a man suddenly stood in front of her.
Felicity’s heart leaped into her throat, a cry of surprise escaping her lips as the man appeared suddenly, blocking her path. Her hand instinctively went to her chest, her breath catching in her throat.
Ma’am, you shouldn’t be here, especially not so early.” The man said, politely.
Felicity frowned, she couldn’t sense any malice from the unfamiliar man. But this wasn’t who she was searching for. “Who are you? Get out of my way.”

“I’m sorry but I can’t. Mister Elsworth wouldn’t be happy to know you are here.” The man replied.

Realisation flashed across Felicity’s eyes. He must be one of her shadow bodyguards judging from how casually he was dressed. His stance and words were also a subtle tip-off to his true identity. But she had no time to dwell on the revelation, her focus set on Kagen’s disappearance.
“A man just came in here. Tall and chubby. Did you see him?” she asked, her voice tinged with urgency.
The guard shook his head. “No. And you shouldn’t be looking for him. Leave that to us. You should go back to your office.”
Felicity bit her lips in hesitation but still nodded and turned to leave. She would let Noah’s men handle it for now, but if they failed, she would take matters into her own hands, regardless of what Noah thought.
For the rest of the day, she stayed in the office, attending to her business. She didn’t receive any text like she had anticipated.
At least up until her closing hours when Kagen decided to mess with her again.
“Nice try earlier. Why don’t we try that again? I’m in the garage.”
Felicity packed her bag and quickly bid Beatrice farewell before rushing to the garage. For the first time, she felt that the elevator moved very slowly. It almost took an eternity before it got to the garage.
The place was dark and bare of anyone. Felicity stepped out, her eyes scanning the shadows for any sign of Kagen. Her fingers tightened around the strap of her bag. She cautiously looked around, clutching a pen in her hand as a weapon to defend herself in case Kagen attacked.
“Hello,” she called out. “Show yourself, you b***rd!” She scanned around and she couldn’t hear a thing, not even a drop of pin. For a moment, she thought Kagen had lied.
Felicity’s shoulders relaxed slightly but she was still alert. She walked to her car and prepared to leave when gentle footsteps drew her attention.
As she spun around, her gaze caught sight of the same guard who had stopped her earlier, his face now obscured by a baseball cap and a mask. Something about his stance seemed different but she ignored it.
“What do you want now? I’m not chasing anybody this time. Go tell your boss that.” Felicity snapped at him, waving him away but he remained rooted to his spot.
When he didn’t leave, Felicity became annoyed. She approached the man, intending to push him away but paused when she caught sight of some strands of his hair peeking from his cap, a subtle detail that stopped her in her tracks. They were blond.
The man she had seen earlier, the one she had chased into the alleyway, had been a brunette.
“Blond hair and blue eyes. He was breathtakingly beautiful.” Wilfred’s words echoed in her head and she froze, a feeling of dread swimming in her stomach.
“Who are you?” She asked, taking a step backward.
A light laughter bubbled from the man, catching Felicity off guard. It sounded innocent but Felicity could sense danger underneath. It was followed by a soft almost feminine voice, “You are smart, Felicity. I think you already know the answer to that question.” He said, taking off his cap to reveal half of his face, a cascade of blond hair, and his striking blue eyes.
Felicity’s suspicion was confirmed.
“It’s very easy to infiltrate Noah’s men, you know. Just a few kicks and they are out, leaving me to steal their clothes.” Kagen added, his eyes squinting as he smiled. “It’s nice to finally et you, Felicity.”
