When morning came, the air between Noah and Felicity was heavy with unsaid words, Noah’s resolve clear as he quietly left the room. Felicity’s heart twisted with guilt.
She hadn’t expected his sudden confession, not now that she was trying to figure things out herself.
Dressed and ready for the day, she slipped into her car, the morning traffic a welcome distraction from the turmoil in her head. She was taking over from her dad for the second time since she was fully healed.
She decided to take the general entrance instead of her private elevator from the garage.
Her employees visibly lit up when they saw her coming into the building and greeted her eagerly. It was a big contrast to the way they behaved when she first took over. It seemed Felicity’s hard work was starting to pay off, their respect for her growing with each passing day.
As she entered the building, Beatrice was waiting for her by the elevator. “Good morning, ma’am.” Beatrice greeted with a reserved look.
“Good morning to you too, Beatrice. Did you miss me?” Felicity teased the old woman with a smile.
“The ambiance was better before you walked in.” Came Beatrice’s emotionless reply. The biting sarcasm of Beatrice’s statement hit like a blow.
Felicity’s smile fell and she scowled at Beatrice. “I’ll fire you one of these days.”
Beatrice remained unfazed, her expression unchanging. “Sure,” she replied, her tone making it clear she didn’t believe Felicity would ever go through with it.
Felicity gave up and got into the elevator with Beatrice following behind her. Today she was donning a red Chanel gown with Gucci shades and a Louis Vuitton bag. She knew that her arrival would be noted by the press, and she wanted to make sure they understood that she was back, and she meant business.
During the time of her absence, her father had told everyone she was ill and recuperating.
“How is your health?” Beatrice asked as the elevator ascended.
Felicity shrugged. “I’m fine. It wasn’t that serious.”
Beatrice’s words were as sharp as a knife, her smile a veneer that failed to disguise the malicious intent beneath. “Good, because you have a ton of work waiting for you.”
Felicity’s eyes narrowed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Here I thought you were asking because you were worried about me.”
“You thought wrong.”

Ian stood eagerly at the entrance, a smile already spreading across his face as he spotted Noah’s car approaching. He approached the car.
“Dude, the ”
F****k off.” Noah harshly cut off lan’s greeting, brushing past him to enter the building.
Ian blinked, dumbfounded by Noah’s unexpected behaviour. He hastily rushed behind him, wondering who had angered the big boss.

The employees cowered away from Noah, frantically like a prey fleeing from a predator. The aura he exuded
screamed danger and the tension in the air was thick, causing them to focus on their work to avoid his wrath.

In a matter of seconds, the news of Noah’s terrible mood had already spread around the building. Those unfortunate souls who had appointments with him that day felt their stomachs drop to their feet, a collective sense of dread washing over them. They might get fired with a single wrong move,
Only one figure remained undaunted, strolling behind Noah with a casual grin on his face, Ian. He was the only one brave enough to push Noah’s buttons when he was raving mad.
Getting to the office, Ian asked, “Noah, what’s wrong?” His
question was met with a yell.
“The project in City Z hasn’t been finished yet?” He bellowed, the veins in his neck bulging as he slammed his fist down on his desk. “It’s been five days! Fire them all!”
Ian gulped. “The stipulated time for that project was three weeks, of course, they aren’t done yet. They are humans, not robots,” He stated before probing Noah, “Why are you so mad? Did Felicity do something?” Just as he finished, a pen came hurtling towards his head which he swiftly dodged. The sly grin on his face showed that he’d hit the bullseye. “So, it is Felicity.”
Noah’s face darkened at the mention of her name. The paper in his hand crumpled into a ball as he clenched it.
“What happened? Did she reject you or something?” Ian asked and Noah’s eyes snapped to him immediately in a glare. Realisation flashed through Ian’s eyes, “Oh.” He said, and he gazed at Noah in sympathy.
Noah’s eyes dropped to the table as rage and hurt bubbled within him. The memory of last night’s conversation resurfaced in his mind and he couldn’t stop the sour feeling that crept in.
Felicity’s rejection had affected him more than he had let on. He took great restraint not to pin her down and demand why she was reluctant to reveal the obvious truth, that she had feelings for him too. He could see it in her eyes. He could feel it in
her touch.
Why was she trying to deny it? Was he that repulsive to love? Was he too calm with his approach? Should he release his more feral side?
D***n, he was so confused.
“Noah, I’m sure she loves you. You just have to give her some time.” Ian said softly.
“Time for what? It’s almost been a year. She’s adamant about leaving

on.
I don’t have time!” Noah snapped, feeling
The attachment he had with Felicity was something he had not expected. The thought of her leaving him, and falling in love with another man was annoying. He would rather die than lose her at this point. She was his. No one else’s.
“Then what are you going to do?” Ian asked. “You can’t force her to stay with you.”
Noah scoffed. He was starting to consider coercion. Would it be so bad if he locked her up and forced her to love him? He was confident she would learn.
“I can’t see that look on your face. Don’t even think about it!” Ian scolded him. “Felicity doesn’t look like a lady who would take coercion likely.”
Noah huffed before putting the paperwork on his desk aside. “I want to let off some steam. What do you have for me?” He changed the topic.
Jan instantly turned serious as he reported. “Wilfred turn out to be one of the top ranks in K’s organisation, but he’s refused to disclose anything no matter what Axel does. Though he did admit to following Felicity around.”

“I’m going to kill that f***r, Noah growled under his breath. K was starting to get on his last nerve and when he finally got his hand on him, he would bestow K the worst possible death ever. “Let’s go help Axel out, shall we?”
Noah got up preparing to leave but Ian stopped him. “Not yet. You just came to the office. You have important meetings to
attend.”
Noah halted, his jaw ticking. The last thing he wanted was to be stuck in a stuffy boardroom when his mind was still boiling with fury. “You attend them then,” he replied, his words dripping with frustration.
“I refuse. I don’t care what problems you have with Felicity, but you shouldn’t use that as an excuse to neglect your work.” Ian said adamantly, standing firm.
Noah’s gaze was like a dagger, his eyes flashing with irritation. But lan met his stare without flinching. Finally, Noah grunted in defeat. “This meeting better be worth my time, or else you’ll receive the consequences.” He spat before leaving.
