c Chapter 181
Felicity was angry with Noah even after eating her seafood boils and returning home. His outburst caught her off guard and hurt her more than she expected.
Why would he yell at her because she was being polite? His reaction was uncalled for. She knew he didn’t understand the depth of her connection with Wilfred, but that didn’t give him the right to lash out like that.
“Are
you still mad at me?” Noah cautiously crawled into bed beside her, preparing to sleep, as he asked.
“No shit, Sherlock.” Felicity spat at him, rolling over to face him.
Noah scooted closer to her. “I’m sorry,” He said. “. Co
in the wrong way.”
don’t trust Wilfred, okay? There’s something about him that rubs me
“But he is a good guy,” Felicity turned to face Noah with a flicker of defiance
Noah’s expression hardened. “How do you know that?”
“I just do.” Felicity shrugged. “And you shouldn’t have behaved like that in front of him. It was rude.”
Noah sighed. “Okay,” he finally conceded. “I’ll apologise next time I see him.”
Felicity raised a brow. “How do you know you’re going to see him again?”
“will,” Noah simply replied without elaborating. He suddenly pulled Felicity close to him. “Now let’s stop talking about another man before I lose my **n mind.” He said, leaning down for a kiss but Felicity evaded it.
Noah sighed, pulling back. “What’s the problem? Why are you avoiding me?” His tone carried a mix of frustration and confusion, as if he couldn’t fathom why she would reject him.
“I’m not avoiding you.” Felicity denied, refusing to meet his
gaze
“Yes, you are. You have been avoiding me since yesterday,” Noah retorted, his voice carrying a bit of hurt. “See, you can’t even look me in the eye. What’s wrong? Did Vicky say something?”.
Felicity darted her eyes to his for a brief second, her eyes darkening with emotion before she averted her gaze. She turned her back to him and answered, “Vicky didn’t say anything. I just need some space right now.”
Noah’s arms tightened around her, his thumb grazing her chin and forcing her eyes to meet his. “I know when you’re lying,” he whispered, his breath warm against her skin. “I know you, Felicity.”.
Felicity felt her breath hitch as she stared into those piercing, knowing eyes. It was as if he could see into the very depths of her soul, laying bare all her secrets and fears.
“You can’t hide from me.” Noah’s voice was low, and he bent down to perk her lips softly.
Felicity blurted out, her words tumbling from her lips in a breathless rush, “Why are you so nice to me?”
“Excuse me?” Noah furrowed his brows in confusion, his gaze searching hers for answers.
Taking a deep breath, Felicity rephrased her question, her voice quieter but no less urgent. “Why are you being so intimate with me all of a sudden?”
“Because you’re my wife.” Noah replied, a hint of confusion in his voice.
Felicity shook her head. “No, that’s not it. You weren’t this touchy until recently. Kissing wasn’t part of our contract.”

Chapter 181
Noah’s expression softened. The words slipped from his lips before he could stop them, “Maybe I’m in love with you”
Felicity flinched, as if Noah’s words had physically struck her. She stared down at him, her brows furrowed in a mixture of shock and frustration, not expecting his blatant answer.
How could he say that with a straight face? That was no way to confess to a lady..
“A-Are you serious?” She c*****ed a brow at him. Her lips pursed, half expecting him to burst out laughing and tell her it was all some cruel prank. But instead, he did the opposite.
Noah’s voice was quiet, but his words carried a sincerity that was hard to ignore. He held her gaze, confessing, “I do feel something.”
Felicity’s gaze darted away, as if trying to find some escape from the intimacy of his confession. She desperately tried to look away, to deny the raw vulnerability she saw in them. He was letting her in. “Do you feel something too?”
The question had landed like a bomb in Felicity’s mind, startling her into a nervous chuckle. Felicity was taken off guard by the question. She indeed felt something but she wasn’t going to admit that so freely. She deflected the question, “Let’s get some sleep.” She then swiftly slipped out of his embrace, her eyes downcast, and her heart pounding.
Noah let her go without a word, and didn’t stop her when she turned her back to him once again. He couldn’t believe he had just confessed and only to have it rebuffed.
Noah’s thought raced as he replayed every intimate moment he shared with Felicity over the last few months. He was so certain that she was starting to fall for him too, that the spark between them was real.
But now, her silence had thrown everything into question and he wondered if it had all been his imagination.
Had he read too much into her smiles, her touches, the way she looked at him? Had he only seen what he wanted to see, mistaking tenderness for something deeper?
He gazed at Felicity’s back with a longing expression on his face. No, there was no way he made a mistake. He was convinced that she did harbor feelings for him, that her silence was not rejection but a sign of something deeper.
But what was stopping her? Was it shyness that made her tongue-tied, or a fear of loving, perhaps? Hadn’t he been nothing but kind and patient? What was holding her back?
Tearing his gaze from her back, Noah roller to his side, facing the nightstand. His thought throughout the night that he couldn’t sleep.
As the night progressed, Noah’s gaze shifted away from Felicity, turning to face the nightstand. Sleep evaded him as his mind attempted to unravel the mystery of Felicity’s silence, the answers he sought refusing to reveal themselves.
