Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 166

Chapter 166
The next day, Felicity was searching for a good TV show in the sitting room when she received a call from an unknown. number.
“Hello.” She answered, eyes still glued on the TV.
“Felicity,” A familiar voice came through the phone, making Felicity divert all her attention to the call. “It’s Beatrice.”
“Beatrice,” Felicity replied, shocked that Beatrice was calling her. The two hadn’t talked since Felicity got shot, and Felicity realised only now that she didn’t have the woman’s number.
Was Beatrice calling because of her disappearance from the office?
But she was sure her dad had given Beatrice a plausible explanation. So why was she calling?
“How are you doing? Is everything alright at the office?” Felicity’s brow furrowed as she asked.
“No,” Came Beatrice’s blunt reply. “Where is Connor?”
Felicity sat up straight. What did she mean by that? “What do you mean? Isn’t he at the office?” She asked, worry creeping into her tone.
“No, he isn’t and it’s so unlike him since we have a very important meeting to attend today. I’m afraid I tried calling him but he isn’t picking up my calls. Even the houseline isn’t reachable. I thought you might know what was going on.”
“Please, hold,” Felicity tried to conceal the fear in her voice as she tried to call her father but he was unreachable. She also tried the houseline, and alas, Beatrice was right. It was unavailable too. She proceeded to try the number of the head maid but even that wasn’t going through.
What the hell was going on?
“Beatrice, not to worry. My dad caught a cold today. That’s why he couldn’t make it. Can you please reschedule the meeting or attend on his behalf?” Felicity asked. She lied, not wanting Beatrice to be alarmed. For all they knew, Connor could be safe and sound, and they were panicking unnecessarily.
At least, that was what Felicity was trying to convince herself.
“Sure, but tell him to call next time. I was worried.” Beatrice sounded through the phone.
“I will,” Felicity replied and Beatrice hung up.
Instantly, Felicity called Noah. “I need your help. Come pick me up.”
“I’m on my way.” Came Noah’s swift reply.
Felicity went upstairs and changed into something more appropriate to wear outside. With a lot of hassle, she got dressed and waited for Noah outside.
Immediately his car came into sight, she jumped in and ordered, “Take me to the Orion mansion.”
As Noah drove from the estate, his brow furrowed. “You want to tell me what’s going on?”
“I think something has happened to my dad. He didn’t come to work today and nobody in the mansion is answering their phone. I think something bad might have happened.” Felicity’s eyes flashed in worry and dread. Her knees jerked as bad thoughts flooded into her brain.
Did Caster finally retaliate after weeks of radio silence, and get to her dad? Or was this Patricia’s doing? Even Kagen. She

didn’t know which one of her enemies she was up against now but she was certain one of them was behind this.
A hand rested on her knee causing it to stop jerking. Noah’s soothing voice followed, “Calm down, I’m sure your dad is alright. Everything will be fine.” He stroked her thigh gently.

Her eyes glistened with tears, Felicity looked up to him and her voice cracked. “But no one is answering their phone. Isn’t that fishy? What if something happened to him?”

“Nothing will happen, I promise,” Noah reassured her. He had people watching over the mansion so if something serious had indeed happened to Connor, he would have been informed about it. But either way, he stepped on the accelerator and tried to get to the Orion mansion as fast as he could.
In no time, Noah arrived. He barely had the time to hit the brakes before Felicity went flying out, racing to the entrance. Noah turned off the ignition before hastily following behind her.
“Where is my father?!” Felicity barged into the mansion, yelling.
A maid, in the middle of cleaning, shrieked in fright at the sudden intrusion, throwing her duster pathetically at them. She missed by a wide margin.
The maid only calmed down after recognizing Felicity. She immediately paled, wiping her hands on her dress quickly. “Miss, it’s you! I d-didn’t notice… I didn’t mean to…”
“Where is my father?” Felicity questioned again, this time her voice a little lower, not allowing the stuttering maid time to finish.
“In his room, Miss,” The maid answered before hitting her head. “I’m such a fool, I’ll go inform the handmaid of your arrival right away.”
Felicity ignored her last words as she raced upstairs to her father’s room. She tried to open it but found it locked. She resorted to pounding on it. “Dad! Daddy! Are you in there?!”
“Felicity-”
Turning the doorknob again, Felicity yelled in panic and frustration. “Why is it f***g locked? Noah, break the door down.” She told him.
Noah shook his head. “You have to calm down.”
“Don’t tell me to calm down! I have lost a mother, I’m not losing a father too.” She snapped at him.
Noah paused at her outburst before saying, “We are not losing him.”
“Then why isn’t he answering the-”
“Oh my God! What is the ruckus about? Can’t an old man get some sleep around here?!” The door opened and a groggy and shabby-looking Connor gazed at them with disapproval.
His eyes were puffy and his hair was a mess. And his clothes were wrinkled in several places.
Noah breathed. “See, he is fine.”
“Dad! Felicity exclaimed, hugging him. Connor stumbled back a little but still caught her. “I was so worried.”
“What are you doing here?” He asked in confusion as they pulled away. His words were a little slurred. “Shouldn’t you be at home resting? And shouldn’t you be looking after her?” He directed the last question to Noah.
Just then, Helen, the headmaid arrived at the scene along with the maid they met earlier.

“What happened to you? Beatrice called telling me you missed an important meeting today and you weren’t answering your phone. I tried calling but nobody was reachable.” Felicity informed them.
Helen took out her phone from her pocket. “That’s weird. We didn’t receive any missed calls from you, Ma’am.”
Felicity sputtered. “That’s impossible. I called several times but you were unreachable.”
Connor also brought out his phone. He dialled Felicity’s number and it went through instantly.
Felicity gazed at her phone in disbelief. “But it wasn’t working earlier.” She stared at them but they were staring at her in doubt. She averted her desperate gaze to Noah who grabbed her hand assuringly.
“I believe you.” He told her before turning to Connor. “Is something wrong? Why did you miss work today? You made us worried.”
Connor, who still looked unsteady on his feet, replied. “I must have overslept. I should get ready now.”
Felicity finally took in the state of the room. The bed was scattered, the room was stuffy and there was a half-empty wine bottle and a glass lying around. There were also some papers on the floor.
No wonder he looked terrible. Her dad was busy drinking.
“Get ready to go where? Have you looked at yourself in the mirror? You look like a homeless man. Aren’t you too old to be drinking?!” She berated him in anger before massaging her forehead. “And you,” she turned to the head maid. “How could this happen right under your nose? You’re supposed to look after him.”
The handmaid bowed her head in shame. “I’m sorry, Ma’am. It won’t happen again.”
“Don’t blame poor Helen. It wasn’t her fault. I can take care of myself.” As soon as Connor finished, he lost his footing and went tumbling to the floor. If not for Noah’s quick action, he would have surely kissed the floor.
