Mike thrashed around in his seat as Noah poured alcohol on his wounds. A grunt escaped his lips and he glared at Noah through his one good eye.
“I told you, I didn’t mean to harm her!” He yelled.
“You tried to kill my brother. That’s still am offence, Noah said, throwing the empty bottle away. “Tell me where K is and I might consider setting you free”
Mike shook his head, gritting his teeth. “I’d rather die
“And I’ll kill you, rest assured. But if you talk. I will make your death a painless one,” Noah brushed a stray hair from his face and smirked. “Or I might even decide to have mercy and release you. It’s your choice.”
“No, you don’t understand.” Mike’s eyes were filled with desperation and dread. “I’d rather die than return back to K. Just kill me now because I’m as good as dead anyway”
Surprised. Noah tried to school his expression, trying not to let his shock slip. Every one of K’s men he had encountered always idolised him. Why was this one different?
Noah threw a glance at lan and Axel who were watching the interrogation unfold. By the looks of it; they also appeared confused by the revelation.
“You’re afraid of K? Noah questioned. “I thought you guys worshipped the ground he walked in.”
Mike’s lips wobbled as he explained, “Yes, K is great until you provoke him. Everyone knows how much he cares for that Felicity chick. She’s the only one he probably genuinely cares about and we shot her. I shot her,
Tears formed along the rims of his eyes. “The reason you haven’t found my partner yet is because his body is probably dumped in a ditch somewhere with a bullet in his brain. If you release me, I’m going to end up dead anyway so just do the inevitable”
Clenching his fists, Noah gnawed down on his teeth. This changed everything. A man who was ready to die would not offer thern anything. It was better he killed him now than to waste time.
“Tell me where K is,” Noah pushed.
“I wish I knew,” Mike replied in exhaustion. “Everytime I’m oppurtuned to see him, he has a different kind of mask on. I’m just an errand boy for them, I’m not worthy enough to know where he lives. That’s classified information only the higher- ups would know”
“Where can I find these higher-ups?”
“Sucks that you caught me instead of my partner because he was one of the higher-ups. He was there to ensure I got the job done. If he isn’t dead, you should find him. He’s your best shot” Mike confessed, his shoulders sagging.
Noah contemplated if Mike was telling the truth. Noah hadn’t even threatened Mike yet and he already spilled so much willingly. It looked too good to true. But Noah had also met liars and Mike didn’t look like one.
“Why are you giving up so much information?” Noah questioned, skeptically. It was unlike him to ask a question like this but he had a feeling that he might like the answer he would receive
Mike looked physically startled by the question too. His eyes darkened as he seemed to recall something painful. “K’s underground gang is called the Angels of death. I joined a year ago after my bestfriend, Felix, convinced me to. I was about get evicted from my apartment and had nowhere to go, but the Angels welcomed me with open arms. It was heaven.”

Noah’s brow furrowed, “What do you think was wrong with them?”
“I don’t know. I have no idea. I wanted to leave but there was no place left for me to go. The higher-ups gave us free food and shelter as long as we did their biddings, so I decided to ignore everything. It wasn’t until errand boys like me started to go missing recently that I started to grow suspicious.”
“Felix told me that you guys killed them,” Mike gaze averted to Axel “K told everyone how you guys exploit lowlives like me and torture them for fun. Bigshots like you are who are sucking the life and money from this country. He said all sorts of terrible things about you, making everyone despise you guys.”
A voice sounded from the corner. “He could be right.
“Axel” lan warned Axel who only shrugged in response.
Mike shook his head. “No, those were lies.”
“How do you know that?” Noah asked.
“Because he killed Felix!” Mike yelled, tears streaming down his face. “You guys let Felix go but K still murdered him despite Felix’s loyalty to him. He was my bestfriend, the only person I had left in the world.”
“You tried to kill me.” Axel pointed out
“I had no choice. I didn’t want to to disappear too like the others for disobeying K. Mike answered. He hiccuped his face filled with nothing but raw pain, “And let me tell you, I know he killed those other men too. He does it for sport,” He spat in disgust before gazing intently at Noah.
“That man is mad. A word of advice, don’t let him get his hand on your pretty wife because when he does, God knows what he will do to her.”
Noah let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding as Mike leaned back in the seat he was strapped in. The look on his face
was grave.
Felix, Mike’s bestfriend, must be the man they sent to relay the message to K. The next day, his body was found with a note of their meeting taped to it. Axel had took the body and gave it a proper burial. It was something they always did to the people they killed.
Even after burning the bodies, they were still properly buried.
“Do you know where we can find this Angels?” Axel asked, stepping forward.
“They don’t have a particular hideout. They are always on the move but you should check places close to the sea and forests. We camped in a lot of forests.” Mike answered.
Axel nodded, taking note.
Noah decided to ask one last request. “We buried your friend Felix.”
Mike’s eyes widened. “You did?”
Noah nodded. “Yes, and we will allow see your friend again if you tell me the name of those higher-ups starting with that partner of yours.”
Mike answered without hesitation. “I’ll tell you the names I know and you bury me next to Felix.”
Noah’s lips rugged into a smile. “Deal”
