Chapter 144
The buzz around the Best Actress Award intensified significantly in the next few days as the event approached.
The Walker’s misfortune quickly became a thing of the past, replaced by the breathless anticipation over who the crown winner would be. Last everyone heard, Caster had borrowed money from another corporate company to save Walker Corporation from bankruptcy for the time being, but no one cared.
The event of the season was more interesting. The media, the fans, the industry
everyone was excited.
Felicity had worked hard for the past few days to clear her schedule in preparation for the event. Since she could guarantee her dad’s safety, and their lives weren’t in any immediate threat, she could finally relax.
Gazing at her phone which only had a few articles about Walker Corporation’s predicament, she dropped her phone with a satisfied look.
Caster wouldn’t survive not being in the golden limelight for long. He might be quiet now, but Felicity was confident he was going to show his face very soon. She would deal with Caster after the Actress Award once and for all.
“Are you excited about the awards?” Noah asked, sitting next to her on the couch. He had a glass of red wine on one hand which he swished gently, gazing at the TV. A bottle of wine was sitting on the centre table in front of him.
“Kind of Felicity shrugged gently.
Daunting Lullaby had gained quite a bit of popularity worldwide but Felicity was starting to doubt if it was enough to win.
In the entertainment industry, visibility was everything. But because of her father’s poisoning, she couldn’t attend interviews or promotional appearances like other actresses did as she immediately took over the company. So she wasn’t sure if many people would vote for her.
Despite knowing that the quality of her performance was top-notch, she was uncertain. Remembering her promise to Lilian, her eyes drooped. How was she supposed to win the award now?
“What’s wrong?” Noah averted his gaze from the TV and held her chin in his fingertips, bringing her head up to meet his eyes. His eyes softened in concern.
“Do you think I can win the award?” Felicity blurted out, her lips forming into a pout. “I’ve been so focused on the company that I neglected my image as an actress.”
Silence reigned for a moment as Noah gazed earnestly into her eyes. Tilting his head, he drew her face closer to his. “Of course, you will win the award. Without a doubt.”
“Really?”
“Would I lie to you? You’re the only one who deserves it.” He answered, his gaze unwavering as he leaned down to kiss her.
Felicity leaned into the kiss and as their lips connected, she could taste the lingering taste of wine on his lips, pulling her deeper.
They pulled apart and Noah took another sip of his drink before asking, “Are you ready? It’s a dangerous night. God knows what tricks people might try to use on you.”
“What can they possibly do? I’m prepared for anything.” Felicity replied, confident that no one could possibly harm her
anymore.
“Of course,” Noah smirked before pulling her into his lap until she was straddling him. “But before then I think I should build your alcohol tolerance. You get drunk easily and start spewing nonsense. I don’t want you blurting out our secrets.”

Felicity turned red. “What the hell are you talking about? My tolerance isn’t that had and I most definitely do not spew
nonsense.”
Noah chuckled. “You once told me that you died and came back in time, and then coerced me to bathe and kiss you. I can’t
you under the influence.”

Shock rippled across Felicity’s features, her eyes wide as saucers. I said that?” she stammered, her hands coming up to cover her mouth.
Mistaking her terror for embarrassment, Noah rushed to reassure her, “Don’t be embarrassed. That’s exactly why I need to build your alcohol tolerance. I don’t want you to lose face. You need to shine.”
Calming her racing heart, Felicity inwardly released a sigh of relief. She couldn’t believe her dumb drunk self almost gave away her most important secret. Thank God, Noah didn’t buy it, she would have had a lot of explaining to do.
Maybe alcohol training wouldn’t be that after all.
Just then, Felicity’s thoughts were interrupted as her lips were forcefully pried open by a tongue, and wine suddenly filled her mouth. Her eyes, shocked, darted down at Noah who was pulling away from the kiss, a playful glint in his eyes as he held a glass of wine
She sputtered slightly, her cheeks flushed as the wine mixed with his earlier kiss. “What do you think you’re doing?” she managed to say. She had been kissed before but none of them were ever this… sweet.
“Alcohol training. This way no one can take advantage of you anymore.” Noah answered bluntly, taking another sip of wine like nothing had happened. He leaned to kiss her, his mouth still filled with wine but before he could succeed, Felicity backed away from him.
“The Award is three days away. There’s no way you can build my tolerance in time. I’ll just avoid drinks at the party.” Felicity suggested, trying to leave his lap but he held her firmly.
Noah shook his head, before swallowing. “That won’t do. Half-bread is better than none. Let’s practice shall we?”
“Why do I feel like this is just an excuse for you to kiss me? I can practise without your tongue in my throat.” Felicity glared at him.
“Of course, it is an excuse,” Noah smiled. “Now be a good girl and stay still.” He instructed before downing a glass and kissing her before she could react. The next thing she knew, she was swallowing a mouthful of wine against her will.
This persisted for a few hours before Felicity became really drunk and fell asleep in his hands like a baby. Sadly for Noah, today’s training was over.
