Chapter 131
Felicity’s hands slammed down on the table. “He said what?!” She exclaimed at Charles’ audacity.
“Yeah, he did.” Connor confirmed, his tone dead serious. “I want you to be careful for now. Stay away from him.” He warned Felicity.
“Sure.” Felicity replied, though she had other plans. It was the perfect opportunity to ask about their past ties with the Walker family. “I found out that we used to run a drug smuggling ring along with the Walkers.”
“What? How do you know about that?” Connor asked in surprise. His suspicion quickly settled on Noah and he glanced at him sharply. Noah was the only one who could possibly get access to that information.
Noah, sensing the tense atmosphere, spoke up. “I’ll just.. make a call.” He excused himself, leaving the father and daughter
alone.
Felicity focused back on Connor. “So, it’s true.” Her words hung in the air, a silent accusation.
Connor let out a long sigh, his frown deepening. “Yes, it is. But it’s in the past. Don’t worry about it.”
“In the past? Dad, this fight has been going on for decades. Charles just threatened our life because of it-we need to put an
end to it.”
Connor’s face hardened. “You think we haven’t tried to end the feud? Those bastards want blood, not peace.”
Felicity’s brows drew together. “What is the feud all about anyway?”
Connor sighed in contemplation before muttering. “Fine, it’s about time you know.”
Felicity crossed her arms and listened with rapt attention.
“Back in the day, Our families used to be very close,” Connor started, his voice distant. “Our family wasn’t always this well- off. Our ancestor who started all this, Larry Orion, started as a waiter in a restaurant owned by a notorious drug lord. This man was ruthless and proud, so Larry and his best friend, William, decided to cross him.”
“They led a coup, pocketed half the deals and cash, and tipped off the police. The drug lord died in the crossfire with the police and his men were taken to jail. No one knew what Larry and William had done.”
“William is a Walker?” Felicity asked.
“Yes,” Connor confirmed, nodding slowly. “William started the Walker family line. Larry and William got filthy rich selling drugs and expanded their chain. For a while, they were the biggest crime lords in the city. But then things changed. They got married, had children, and their interests diverged.”
“William’s wife, Tina, thought her husband was a puppet to Larry and was dissatisfied. Larry’s wife, Juliet, thought William was a manipulative shrew. Of course, nobody knows which of these rumours was correct, but everyone believed what they wanted to. Larry decided to go clean and leave the dirty business alone. He had the money to lead a good, honest life, so why not?”
“But William didn’t want him to?” Felicity asked.
“Nope: William was ecstatic Larry left the game. It gave him the entire drug business, who wouldn’t be happy?” Connor narrated. “It was Tina who was the problem. That woman was just terrible.”
After Larry left, his clean business did well. Larry had become so successful, so respected, that his family dined with elites, were invited to parties, and so on. Tina became jealous of their lavish life. Though her husband was wealthy, his wealth wasn’t recognized in the face of society. What was the purpose of money if she couldn’t flaunt it?”

“What did she do?”
“Jealousy led her to do something terrible. Connor’s voice was like a chill creeping through the room. “She killed Larry’s
only son.”
“What?!” Felicity gasped.
“Yes, Larry was devastated, thinking William was responsible since he was covering for his wife. Larry exposed the crimes to the police and war broke out, causing William to take his family into hiding.” Connor said solemnly, “It was a bloodbath. Larry was consumed with grief, hunting down William’s family for years. When he finally caught up with them, he killed William in front of his wife and son. But Larry didn’t live to see the aftermath. He died shortly after from a heart attack.”
“Larry died, leaving Juliet who was six months pregnant with twin boys, and she raised her children to despise the Walkers. Tina Walker was forced to step into the world of crime her husband had left behind just to survive, while Juliet raised Larry’s business into a legitimate enterprise. Those two widows shaped our families into what they are today.”
As silence reigned, Felicity’s face contorted into a frown. That’s the most s**d thing I’ve ever heard. So all this feud started. because of that? It sounds like something out of a kid’s story.”
“It’s kind of ridiculous, Connor shrugged. “The killing only stopped when my grandfather intervened: The two families called a truce after Charles’s father was killed. They suspected my father did it, but he was innocent. They just wouldn’t believe us.”
“So the Walkers have another enemy?”
L
“With their line of work, it’s inevitable they’ll make enemies. Connor sighed wearily. “Charles was raised by his grandfather. and he was adamant that we were responsible for his dad’s death. He isn’t interested in the truce anymore.”
“I knew they had an ulterior motive when Caster suddenly started dating you. That’s why I tried so hard to get you away from them. That family is no good. Charles is a blood-seeking jerk.”
“I know that now. Felicity sighed, leaning on her chair in thought.
Now that she had threatened to reveal Charles’ dirty business, it must have brought up old memories and opened old injuries, succeeding in putting a target on their backs.
If Charles was serious in his ‘revenge” it was better she killed him before he killed them. She still needed to pay him back for what he did for her in the past, and she needed to do it fast.
“Don’t worry, Dad, I’ll take care of this. She reassured him with a glint of determination.
Connor shook his head adamantly. “No, I don’t want you taking care of anything. Stay away from this. Charles can’t openly hurt us now, this isn’t like the 80s when he can start a war. The world has evolved.”
“Yeah right,” Felicity scoffed. Charles could openly hurt them if he wanted to. He had a whole arsenal of men under him to do his dirty deeds. “I will stay away.” She said to appease her dad.
Exhaling a sigh of relief, Connor nodded and smiled at her. Shortly after, Noah entered the room and they finished the rest of their dessert in peace, exchanging light talks as they went. The former lively ambiance returned to the room until the dinner was over, and they saw Connor to his car before they returned to theirs.
“Can you send some people to look after my dad for a few days Felicity asked him, knowing he heard their conversation earlier.
“I already did,” Noals responded.
Felicity gave him a smile of gratitude. “You’re always one step ahead.”
“What are you going to do now?” Noah asked her.

“Why do you always ask me that?” Felicity gave him a curious look.

“My dad used to ask me the same thing whenever someone had wronged me: ‘What are you gonna do about it, Noah?’ I thought he was taunting me until I grew older. Now I know, he wanted me to stand up for myself, to never let anyone walk
all over me.”
Felicity bobbed her head at his explanation before looking at the cityscape flashing past the window. “I’ll wait… I’ll wait for the right time. Can’t go after Charles unless he makes the first move, right?” A devious smirk tugged at her lips.
