Chapter 124
Felicity did not bid for anything after the painting, and soon, the auction was over. She made her way to complete the payment for her winning bid. To the surprise of many, her card did not decline – much to the disappointment of those who were eagerly waiting for it to happen.
After receiving assurance that the painting would be delivered to her home, she left the auction room. Felicity contemplated leaving the party altogether but knew she still had one more crucial task at hand-confronting Charles Walker.
Delilah must have told him the news already. Felicity lingered around, greeting some business men who approached her. They were all staring at her with a bit of reverence and curiosity, and Felicity basked in it. She also met more people who wanted to work with Orion group and she gladly answered thei
When the crowd around her had finally dissipated, Felicity heard a familiar gruff voice behind her, “Miss Felicity, we have a
lot to talk about.”
Felicity’s lips tugged a little before turning to face hom, “I don’t think we do, Mr. Walker.” She answered Charles, her voice steady despite the unease she felt in his presence.
Their gaze locked and Felicity felt the chills swimming in Charles eyes. Standing before Felicity with an icy glare, Charles Walker clearly didn’t take her subtle threat lightly. His dark blue, calculating eyes, a stark contrast to Caster’s pale blue, seemed to bore into her soul. She had always found it difficult to stare into them
His pale blond hair streaked with white gave him an almost saintly appearance – If only his heart weren’t as dark as night.
On the contrary, I think we do,” Charles insisted. “Can I speak to you outside?” He gestured to the direction of the balcony at the side of the house.
Felicity hesitated before following him. She didn’t want to be alone with Charles, as he was dangerous and unpredictable. She wouldn’t be surprised if he planned to strangle her then and there.
Noah, you better be right she thought, recalling his earlier promise that his people were watching her in the gala.
The balcony overlooked a large, lush garden, and as the cold night air caressed Felicity’s skin, she couldn’t help but shiver. “What do you want?” Felicity asked, cutting straight to the point
“How did you know about my cargo?” Charles questioned without beating around the bush.
“My fairy godmother told me. Felicity shrugged, trying to act nonchalant.
Charles’s glare grew icy at her flippant response. He took a step closer, the menace in his voice unmistakable. “I don’t have time for games, dear Felicity. If this is Connor’s way of starting a fight, then I’ll gladly comply. And trust me, I have more brutal and swifter ways to end him than Orpi poison.”
Felicity’s eyes blazed with fury at the threat to her father. “Threaten my father again, and you’ll regret it, I promise. Her voice was low and intense, mirroring Charles’s dangerous gaze,
If Charles was taken aback by her sudden ferocity, he didn’t show it. Their eyes remained locked in a silent battle until the corners of Charles’s lips tugged into a hint of a smile.
“Vivian was right, you have grown bolder, He mused aloud before shaking his head in regret, “I should have listened to her and come to deal with you sooner, Probably then, her honour would have still been intact.”
What a pity,” Felicity taunted, her voice dripping with sarcasm. You failed as a parent.”
“Don’t think I’ll let you get away with that. You ruined my precious child, so it’s only right I return the favour, isn’t it? Caster might be gullible to believe you would return to him but I can’t see it in your eyes – you don’t plan to. A pity, since he

wasn’t quite done with you yet, our dear harvester. Since you are of no use to us now, I think it’s about time we dispose of you. Maybe that would put your father in his place.”
Felicity froze in her spot and she turned incredibly pale. Tears gathered along the rims of her eyes unconsciously as a sharp pain shot through her chest. She whispered to him, her voice trembling, “What did you just call me?”
Charles furrowed his brow, momentarily taken aback by her sudden shift in demeanour, “What?”
“I said, what did you just call me?!” Felicity repeated, grinding her teeth in rage as her fists balled at her sides. Her heart rate increased as a sudden realisation hit her, making her move to clench her chest.
Relishing her reaction, Charles laughed. “Are you offended that I called you our dear harvester? You wouldn’t understand. It’s an inside joke.”
A murderous glint flashed in Felicity’s eyes when he repeated that nickname. It was one she remembered so well, and one she would never forget. It was the name Charles had called her when she had donated her o**n to Caster at the hospital.
“Sleep well, our dear harvester. He had said with a smile as she dozed off, under the influence of the drug the doctor had administered.
At that time, she had been happy because it was the first time Charles had ever smiled at her. She had thought he was finally warming up to her, since she had paid the ultimate price to be with Caster-sacrificing a part of her own body. But no, that wasn’t the case at all.
God, how come she was only realising it now? She hadn’t understood then, but she knew what it meant all too well now. Charles had known of Caster’s intention for her from the very beginning.
She was like a crop that was grown for the purpose of being harvested. They cultivated her until she was ripe enough to deliver to them what they wanted.
Caster had tricked her into pursuing him for years, then pretended to date her out of pity. He had raped her and ruined her, reputation in order to manipulate her into marriage. When Caster was dying and couldn’t wait for the child to be born, Vivian had been tasked with getting rid of it by pushing her down the stairs.
A month after her miscarriage, Felicity had been persuaded into giving up a part of herself for his sake
She was a lab rat to them, a tool. Nothing but an o**n preservation bank.
She was just an inside joke to them.
Felicity was their dear harvester.
