wighed, nor from his seat, and approached the desk. “Let’s not dwell on the past. I’m more interested in this the financial report. The company hasn’t performed this well in decades.”
Posty danised his statement with a wave of her hand. ‘You’re exaggerating.”
Tm not. Our profits have quadrupled. At this rate, we’ll become the best company in the industry, maybe even surpass the Elsworths Connor smiled, though it was just wishful thinking. He had met Noah in person, and the man was undoubtedly brillan to be outsmarted. No wonder Elsworth group has been doing so well for years.

Felicity chuckled. Fun fact: Noah picked out most of the projects we’re currently working on.” She had sought Noah’s advice when selecting projects, especially those she had no future knowledge of.
After all, she hadn’t been involved actively in the business industry in her past life, and she wasn’t sure if all the projects she picked would be successful. She was only sure of those that were so successful that they became a big hit or ended up on TV.
So she found herself seeking insights from Noah, as their relationship had been going well. And fortunately, many of the projects he suggested went well, more than she expected.
You’ve really hit the jackpot, Felicity. My son-in-law is not only handsome but also wealthy and smart,” Connor said excitedly. “You picked the best and I couldn’t be more satisfied.”
“But you weren’t so happy with him when he tried to give you advice at the hospital,” Felicity muttered, reminding Connor of his behaviour.
Recalling how rudely he had treated Felicity and Noah, Connor felt remorseful. He had been foolish not to believe them; they were only looking out for him. Reflecting on it, there was no way their report about Patricia could have been wrong, given Noah’s involvement in the investigation.
It was not a secret that the Elsworths were well-informed about everything happening in the country, making them a reliable source of information. They had dirt on everyone which no one knew how they obtained. It was one of the reasons they were very much feared by everyone.
Connor took a seat beside Felicity. “I’m truly sorry for how I treated both of you. Please tell Noah we should have dinner together sometime as compensation.”
“Of course. I’ll let him know. And we’ve already forgiven you; you don’t need to apologise,” Felicity nodded.
Connor sighed again, staring at the ceiling. “You’ve done an exceptional job in my absence. Thank you.”
Anytime, Felicity laughed, joining Connor in gazing at the white ceiling.
A knock on the door interrupted their moment, and Beatrice entered, her face scrunched up in a frown. She held a tablet in
her hands.
What’s up?” Felicity asked, noticing Beatrice’s expression.
“I have news, Beatrice replied, handing the tablet to Connor. His face darkened as he examined the screen. Felicity peered at the tablet and instantly understood the reason for their forlorn expressions. She sighed, realising that her workload was about to increase. As expected, just when she had gotten rid of one problem, another one emerged-or in this case, two.
The screen displayed a picture of Charles and Delilah Walker walking out of the airport, followed by an entourage of

bodyguards that made them look like royalty. Their sweet smiles managed to deceive the public, masking the true devils
they were inside.
“The monkeys are back.” Connor chuckled.
“Daddy, that’s an insult to monkeys.” Felicity reprimanded him playfully and they both laughed.
Beatrice rolled her eyes before resuming her report, “They arrived just in time for the Princeton’s charity gala. Rumours have it that they will be in attendance,” Beatrice added.
The Princeton’s charity gala was an annual event where businessmen could flaunt their wealth in the name of charity. Felicity had never attended any of the previous ones as she found these events boring and stressful, but she had heard
stories.
The auction was typically a battleground for businessmen, particularly those who believed they had made it in the world, to display their superiority. Top executives like the Elsworths rarely participated, though.
Many companies always presented a representative to attend these things as new allies could be found as well as investors. The calibre of men that would be present was simply mind blowing.
“Right, when was that again?” Felicity asked.
Beatrice looked like she was holding back from pinching Felicity in the face, “Two days from now. I reminded you last week when the invitation came in.”
“Oh totally forgot about that.” Felicity let out a cheeky laugh before turning to her father and asking, “Since you’re fine now, do you need me to step down from my position? You should resume both your formal and social duties, don’t you
think?”
Connor let out a groan before shaking his head. “Now that I think about it, I believe I need a bit more rest. The doctor advised me not to strain myself too much. My stitches may come loose.” He touched the left side of his chest to prove his point.
Felicity gave him a knowing look before shifting his hand to the right where they performed surgery on his heart, shaking her head at his acting. “I guess I’ll have to deal with this on my own, then.”
“I guess you will,” Connor replied without shame.
Felicity exhaled, shifting her gaze back to the ceiling. She had a challenging task ahead of her.
“Well, let’s delve into more important matters,” Connor stood up, “Summon the shareholders and the board of directors. I believe some restructuring is in order to fully kick Patricia out.”
Felicity smirked, standing up. These were the type of things she liked to hear. “Let’s go.” She said before following her father to the boardroom to do the needful.
