Wicked Scheme Lost a problem Got a man novel Chapter 114

Chapter 114
When Felicity arrived home that night, she found the table already set for dinner, with Noah alady waiting for her. Wasting no time, she removed her coat and joined him at the table.
“You made all this?” Felicity asked, her eyes widening as she took in the variety of dishes before her. She glanced at Noah, noticing the stains on his white shirt and the oil burns on his arm.
Yeah, I spent the whole evening preparing everything. Dig in, Noah replied.
Febcity sighed, gently taking his arm to examine the burns. “This kind of work isn’t cut for you. Did it hurt?” she whispered with a twinge of sadness.
Noah shook his head, trying to hide his hand from her. He reached out to pat her head, “No, it didn’t. This is not enough to
hurt me.
“Liar. Pain is pain, Felicity scowled before suggesting, “Why don’t we hire a cook?”
I don’t like having people intruding on our personal space,” Noah explained.
Felicity smiled at the fact that he called it theirs instead of his despite the fact that he owned the Estate.
“Says the one who is surrounded by more than ten guards daily,” She scoffed. “Why don’t we get a cook who comes and goes like the maid?” They had a maid who cleaned everyday while no one was around. At first Felicity had been curious how the house seemed to be clean all the time until Noah informed her.
“First of all, the guards are for our safety, it’s different. And secondly, we’ve been managing fine on our own. I’ll get a Cook when it’s necessary.” Noah’s tone left no room for arguments. The real reason he didn’t have many maids or staff, unlike other wealthy households, was that he had many enemies and couldn’t afford to have a spy in his home.
“Remind me to apply some ointment on your burns later,” Felicity sighed before taking a bite of her food. “How was work?”
Noah shrugged, “Fine, as always. I don’t want to bore you with the details. How was yours? You asked me not to pick you up today
“It was because my dad came to the office,” Felicity announced.
“Really? Does that mean your plan worked?”
Felicity nodded with a smile. “Yes, Patricia is finally out of our lives. Dad kicked her out of the company, too.” She laughed.
“That’s great news,” Noah said.
“It is. Dad wants to have dinner with us to apologise for his behaviour at the hospital.”
“When? So I can clear
my
schedule.
“I don’t know, probably after the Princeton’s charity auction. Speaking of which, are you going?” Felicity peered at him curiously.
“A room filled with pretentious old men? I’ll pass. That gathering is beneath me,” He answered before glancing at her, “Why? Do you want me to come?”
Unable to hold his gaze, she looked away before shrugging, “No, I’ll be fine on my own. I was just asking.”
Noah smirked but didn’t say anything, focusing on his meal. After a moment, he spoke up, “I heard Charles and Delilah are back in the country after their one-year vacation. Did you know them personally?”

Chapter 114
“I met them once or twice when I was with Caster. They are a despicable pair,” Felicity muttered. “Charles is an a**le, and Delilah is a **Bh. I can’t wait to meet them.” Despite the lack of playfulness in her voice, she did genuinely want to meet them. However, she anticipated that they would try to approach her, as Delilah enjoyed taunting her at every opportunity.
Felicity wanted to meet them because she needed to find out something from Charles-the reason Caster was so docile towards him, as she had mentioned before.
From her past experience with the family, Felicity knew that Caster didn’t respect Charles that much, but he still did their bidding. That was the reason Vivian could sometimes boss him around. It was as if the Walkers held something over Caster, and her gut told her to find out what it was.
“Do the Walkers have any other illegal businesses?” She asked Noah.
Noah looked up from his plate, surprised, and arched his brows. “Why are you asking me?”
Felicity rolled her eyes with a smile. “Don’t play dumb. You don’t think I’d figure out that you exposed Caster’s illegal pipelines?”
Dropping his spoon, Noah gazed at her, amused, not attempting to cover up the truth. “I knew you would find out eventually. You’re just too smart. But I’m curious. How did you figure it out?”
“The timing was too perfect. He got exposed just after he tried to mess with us. By the way, no one but you could possibly attack the Walkers without them retaliating.”
He sighed in surrender before curiously asking, “Why are you asking about their dirty business?”
need something against them.”
“So, you’re asking for my help?” Noah leaned against the table with a smug look.
Felicity rolled her eyes again. “Yes, genius. I’m asking for your help. Now, help me.”
“This is wonderful,” He said. “To answer your question, yes, they have numerous illegal businesses. Most families in this country do.
“Really? My family doesn’t. We are honest people.” Felicity stated, proudly, making Noah tilt his head in amusement. “That’s what you think.” Noah scoffed.
“What do you mean by that? You think if my family dabbled in criminal activities, I wouldn’t know? I assure you that the Orion family has a clean slate.” Felicity stated, folding her hands, somewhat offended by his subtle accusation.
While growing up, her dad had told her a brief history of the family business so she knew her ancestors worked hard to get to where they were today. It was simply hard work.
“Your family had a drug smuggling ring.” He blurted out.
“You’re joking,” Felicity tried to convince herself otherwise, but the serious look in his eyes told her he was dead serious. Her jaw dropped. “What the hell? My family owns what now?”
