When Kelvin answered the call, he was in the middle of hosting a lavish welcome-back party for Adeline with his inner circle.

"Come on, man! Adeline can't drink in her condition, so you've got to take the hit for her!"

The loudest voice in the room belonged to Walton Xavier, Kelvin's oldest friend. Walton had always championed Kelvin's feelings for Adeline and harbored a deep disgust for Summer, viewing her as an opportunistic gold digger.

Over the phone, Wendy's frantic report clashed with Walton's obnoxious cheering.

Hearing that Summer had run away, Kelvin didn't even flinch.

"Let her go. Don't bother looking for her," he ordered coldly.

He ended the call, walked back to the table amidst the raucous applause, picked up Adeline's wine glass, and downed it in one smooth motion.

By the time Summer arrived at the Shorehaven University staff dorms, the sun had already set.

She unpacked her meager belongings and headed out to grab some dinner.

Campus was bustling with students rushing out of late classes, chatting and laughing, radiating youth and energy.

Summer found herself at a noodle shop she used to frequent during her undergrad years and ordered a bowl of beef soup.

Just as she sat down, two female students slid into the booth across from her, dumping their textbooks on the table.

"Did you hear? The university is bringing back all the legendary alumni for the centennial gala!"

Summer had no intention of eavesdropping, but then she heard Kelvin's name.

"I know! Kelvin Lawson is the ultimate dream guy. He stayed fiercely devoted to Adeline Ashcroft from the law department for years. They are literally the ultimate couple goals!"

Fiercely devoted? Ultimate couple goals?

Summer's grip on her fork tightened. If she had known he was already in love with someone else, she never would have humiliated herself by marrying him.

"Wasn't there some girl from the medical school who was obsessed with him too? I mean, compared to Adeline..."
